This is probably the coolest event I have ever had the privilege to arrange, with the exception of the Native American Heritage Celebration event featuring members of the Mattaponi Indian Tribe & Reservation.
Today, I hosted the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon from the Marine Barracks in Washington D.C. at my public library! This was an 8-man rifle platoon that performed a unique precision drill exhibition. This highly disciplined platoon exemplifies the professionalism associated with the United States Marine Corps. At least 57 people were in attendance and some of the Marines stayed behind to take photos and answer questions. We received several compliments from library members, including military veterans.
What a privilege it was to experience this unique military tradition.
