I drive 1200 GS since 2004 and I've got my third 1200 GS since October 2014. I ordered a 1200 Tiger GT Explorer. Delivery somewhere in June if all goes well ... .
@@DieTabbi , because after 18 years, I wanted a different engine but still a shaft-driven big cubic inches. A 3 cilinder was the best choise then for me. Prices are equal. @Travelin'Ben : for sure the BMW holds it 's value better, but pleasure comes first for me. And after all, the shape and the fairings of the newest Tiger really do please me. The looks are very dynamic as well !
Just picked up my GT Explorer, rode the GS on a Toro Adventure Tour but love the balance of the Triumph. Being a lazy S*d I can also walk it without hitting my shins on the cylinder heads of the BMW. Also there's no back light instruments on the BMW unlike the Triumph.
Rally Pro and wired wheels are sorted. Brings it up to roughly the same price as the GS, however it has a number of extras as standard that would need to be added on the GS so actually cheaper
Like most things in life, it’ll be down to what you like the look of , even if it doesn’t have all the ticks in the box . Can’t deny the triumph is a very good machine. 👍
@@gsd32i Oh I forgot you don't like the 21" hoop. That blue with the mags looks great and I usually don't like the mags. Can't go wrong with a GS though.
Rented the 1200 GS and rode for a week in Utah. Very nice bike .. My only complaint is the heat that comes off the heads. After returning home needed up going with the 2023 Rally Pro 1200 and I love it. Was so the right choice for me.
I’m through 3 generations of tiger, and after a 350km day long test drive of a rally explorer…I can’t wait to get my 4th generation triumph explorer! What a ride! Low end rumble and torque of a twin and the upper of that classic triple! Shout out to Inglis cycle in London Ontario for the loaner. I rented a bmw gs1200 in BC a few years ago and thought I would maybe get swayed, but nope…definitely not worth the extra money…..and even if they were the same price….meh.
From other comparisons, the 1250 has more low down grunt and lower C of G also the new crank setup on the Triumph is more vibey at motorway speeds ,triumph screen also looks smaller🤔not forgetting the telelever front end on the BMW,I have the 1250 and prefer the TFT as well ,very clear and easy to use, However if anyone bought the Triumph in sure they'd be happy .
There is a little bit of doubt lurking 👀 especially with the new 1300 possibly around the corner ! I am sure when I see the new bike under the lights in the showroom those doubts will disappear…. I hope so or else the wife will kill me ! 😂
@@gsd32i 😁I for one would not want to be a beta tester for the 1300 ,the best time to buy a model is the last update before change ,all the issues have been ironed out 👍
True, but it has become the Mondeo of bikes for a reason. I ordered a T1200 Rally Pro but Triumph couldn’t deliver the bike in time, so I cancelled it and bought a 2022 1250GS. I hate the GS but I love it…..
If you want a GS and a bike which has its low speed balance, massive low down torque and low c of g then BUY as GS… nothing beats being a GS but a GS. If you want a bike which isn’t a GS but is probably faster, better handling and as capable off road then buy the Triumph but don’t expect it to be a GS. It will roast your gonads in summer, be more top heavy but will be more nimble and more surgical on and off road. I have ridden both and owned a late model GSA as well as a tiger 1200 I think that the new bikes are vastly over priced. You can’t compare them. You can only compare how each does what you want from a bike and puck the one that suits. BMW have an elephant in the room no one wants to admit to and that’s engine internals made of chocolate on some which have exhibited terminal wear at very low mileages. Triumph have not regained their reliability rep yet due to top end issues with early tigers but more with ongoing QC issues with unreliable electronics snd electrics. A check on the forums reveals the horror stories which is why I would not pass my hard earned at new prices for these toys.
No idea what BMW charges for their service but considering how simple it is to check/adjust the valves compared to any other bike (except HD), I'll keep the GSA on the top of my list. Looks like the Tiger is a tick easier than the parallel twins but not by much. Exhaust note from the Tiger is very cool.
I went with the tiger GT explorer, I just know too many BMW owners that have had way too many issues, also hate spoke wheels I just don't like the wobble you get if you loosen your grip on the bars at motorway speeds. So far 1100 miles no issues at all
I have the GS 1250 now and I’m super happy with it after 1000 mile break in. I almost bought a Honda Africa Twin… but went with the BMW and glad I did.
I’d opt for the Rally Pro with the spoke as all reviewers mention there’s not really any noticable difference feel wise on road which speaks lots for the bike Triumph have built. I’m test riding this weekend so may tempt me to trade my 2020 GS
I have the 2020 desert edition - which is the off-road slightly biased one with spoke wheels. I'm 95% on road, and bought the one with spoke wheels for the occasional need. As far as I can tell, no capabilities are deleted for the rally ones, just some are added for off-road and off-road plus. I hoon and lean with mine and don't want for more power. You might get more suspension travel - maybe.
The 21 inch wheel and tires should make a difference. To say there is minimal difference is misleading. Try aggressive road riding especially and in poor wet conditions and the road oriented tires and smaller wheel size will make a considerable difference.
For info, the geometry is different between the Rally and GT. Head angle is slightly sharpened up on the Rally to help counteract the effect of the larger wheel. This is why riders report little difference in steering.
I was just going through the same choice, I am buying the Tiger. For the record. I had already made that decision before I met a former BMW owner who showed me the scars on his shins from the cylinder jugs when some idiot pulled out in front of him.
I ride a 2015 BMW r1200r and I'm find it very very hard to let go of it. I think the Tiger it's over the BMW on the gear box and horsepower. The center of gravity for one or the other might play a role on your decision.
Get the Triumph then you won't have to worry about shaft maintenance. The 21" spoked wheeled version of this bike has received very positive reviews in terms of road handling.
@@nikoscosmos As evidenced by your question, the BMW spline issue has been very well documented. The BMW's spline enclosure is rubber and admits moisture causing rust which unchecked will lead to failure. As far as I'm aware, this is not the case on other shaft-driven bikes because they do not employ a rubber housing. I used to run an old 650 Katana and the shaft maintenance consisted of a 5-10 minute oil change every 10k although it was probably unnecessary because the oil never looked old. I cannot imagine for a second that my old Katana's shaft is a better design than the new Triumph's.
@@keyboarddancers7751 most recent BMW riders perform zero maintenance on the splines without issue. Some read forums and religously grease the splines with the wrong grease breaking the rubber seal and not assembling it properly with waterproof grease. Some have corrosion issues either due to extreme use or jet washing. Most failures are due to u/j issues. I would be surprised if Triumph don't incorporate a flexible seal somewhere in their design. I don't think shaft drive design has changed much since the Katana....but I would have thought that the shaft had a sliding joint to allow for geometry changes with suspension movement? Obviously the more modern designs have fancy linkages to maintain constant shaft length and to tune the anti squat and jacking characteristics.
@@nikoscosmos I guess BMW have addressed the shortcomings of their previous rubber seal design. There is some debate as to whether they ever acknowledged the shortcomings even so far as to not actually provide any maintenance schedule recommendations. The impression I have is that other shaft designs (whether an oil bath, sealed rubber or exposed differential - e.g. the R18) were/are just better at dealing with moisture/water by effectively keeping it out entirely regardless of severity of use/exposure or being wholly impervious to its effects. The Triumph's fascinating new shaft/swingarm design certainly appears to account for the dynamic characteristics you highlight. I am not a mechanic or engineer but I'm very interested in your observations on this matter.
@@keyboarddancers7751 I am very interested to see the new Triumph design. If the T1200 had a telelever anti dive front end my name would be on the order book immediately!
Test rode the Tiger 1200 GT Pro last week and although lovely ride there was a niggling vibration in the foot pegs which played havoc with my ankles(got old man ankles). Must be the T Plane firing as I tried the 650 Tiger after and no vibration at all just not big enough :) I could only manage around 40 mins before returning it to the dealer. Really disappointing. The dealer was surprised and said he would get it checked out and get back to me if they found anything. Will see how the GS test ride goes tomorrow! Just wondered if you noticed it?
@@awesomeagnihotrisvlog Awesome, so good I bought one! Unfortunately left waiting for retrofit of adaptive light, which is a bit of a blow as no date indicated on when I can expect to receive it. BMW are happy to take the money though!
Personally I would go for the tiger.....the bmwr1250gs will be out of date when the new 1300 appears by the end of the year, or have they offered a special deal? I had a 1250gs and now a very happy owner of a tiger 900.......wish I'd done it sooner 😊
Loved my Africa Twin, had loads of character , but sometimes you've just gotta bite that bullet and give other things a go. Tiger was a great machine, but can't resist the BMW , even IF the new 1300 is around the corner with a new engine.
@@paulbridge6063 it is a little vibey at around 70 but not an issue. I'm enjoying this bike more and it's so light to throw it into corners. I've owned the 1200 previously to the 1250 and not missing them at all. It has a good fuel range too. I'm in my late 60s so at just 50kg lighter than the beemer it suits me.👍
Never buy a GS until the last years production! Every new GS has new bugs and problems. I switched from KTM990R, a beast of bike, to GS1200 Pepsi. The Triumph will be the first competitor on nearly same level. If you don‘t miss the awesome Telelever go for the Triumph. I think you can‘t compare bikes like cars. Every bike itself is outstanding and awesome. How much dies it cost with 21“ wheel and complete stuff?
Thanks for the input. Aware of that, but as I didn't want the longer range or the bigger front wheel I didn't reference that model, just like I didn't speak about the GSA. I still maintain that Triumph have missed a trick here by not including spoked wheels with the non rally version. Personally I think the 900 Rally rode better than the 1200 IMHO. I enjoyed the Triumph 900 more than the 1200 when I rode that one . Doesn't matter what you are on so long as it makes you smile. Trouble is, these days we would all need a huge garage to accommodate the bikes we like 🙈ride safe. 👍
I have just over 1,000 miles on my 2020 tiger 1200 - my ONLY complaint is the faffy knob. Press mode until the desired mode shows, and then press the faffy switch straight in to select it, then roll off throttle to finalize. Pressing it straight in is the challenge, because it also presses up, down, and to both sides, and it's tucked in below the turn signal. Today I rode to where I needed road mode for some gravel/dirt tracks, and I focused and made it happen without a hitch for the first time. And the 2022 is down 50 pounds in weight and up in power? Yes please.
Interesting - these new bikes are just crazily expensive. I bought a 2012 Moto Guzzi Stelvio; it’s the adv bike with soul, very under rated. And it cost £5k! Happy days
Totally agree . I loved my Africa Twin and got that used . Trouble is that sometimes you can’t help yourself and you need a new bike ! At least it keeps the used bike market going . Ride safe and enjoy the Guzzi 👍
I would recommend riding both bikes and see which bike is for you. Both bikes are excellent machines. I think it comes down to personal preference. Good Luck
Your saying that you don't want the big fuel tank on your bike of choice, but the photos of the GSA that you put up at the beginning of video, that model, the GSA comes with a 30 litre fuel tank...
Hi Gren , all photos are of the GS . I did video the BMW’s in the dealer , and that was a mixture of both . Hopefully the 20 litre tank is the right choice for me 🤞should have been built in Berlin this week by now 😊
The triumph was really nice but it did lack that low down torque . I tried the xr but found it too vibey even the new one . Lovely QS though . 1300? I may upgrade in a few years time once it’s had any issues ironed out ! Ride safe 👍 2 weeks off now so more videos to come ……
Not sure if you‘ve noticed but there seems to be something wrong with your camera. It keeps going all fuzzy in the middle of the screen, coincidentally just above the speedo. Nice video, by the way.
The problem with the BM is, it's like a VW T5 Van, everyone has got one! Therefore, I don't want one.... The Triumph looks great, but I think I would go for the KTM 1290s. Not yet though, next year 'if' I'm lucky.
Gt Pro any day of the week! More importantly, at 3.28 is that a sea eagle flying in at the top right? Looks like it might be, do you have them in Jersey?
Depends what you want from your bike. If you're happy with the small tank then why go for the BM. If you go touring two up fully loaded then the BM it is.
Martin to be honest i am kind of obsessed with bikes , always have been . Now, I’m just a fair weather rider who panics at the thought of them getting dirty . Yes I know dumb and stupid some may say , but whatever anyones reason is for mounting up and going for a ride , as long as it makes you smile , that’s good enough for me . The boss doesn’t do too much pillion these days and I can’t be bothered with 300miles in one stint . To me the GS and GSA are the RangeRover of the motorcycling world if you know what I mean . Some people love them and …. and some people hate them . Hopefully I’ll be pleased with the 20 litre version . Enjoy 😊
I sold my gs and got an africa twin, and very glad I did. Now looking to change bike and not much that betters it for but the triumphs and very tempting, will have ago on one before i decide. One point to note with gs, the demo bike had solid wheels, my gs had spoked wheels, the road handling of the solid wheels was noticeable better. As with my GS, there are still problems with paint and corrosion. And lets face it, at low speed the gs sounds like a bag of spanners. IMHO and experience. Hope you make the right choice for you, I realy do. :-)
I’m sure it’ll all be fine with the GS 🤞my AT was ridden by me on the road at the limit , great fun even with those spokes . Just need to try the GS thing 😊
The service intervals don't effect most riders as they rarely do 6k a year and as both need servicing once a year anyway it's a bit of a red herring. Unless you desperately want to change now, I'd wait until the Autumn when the 1300GS is due to be released and if history repeats itself that'll be an improvement over the 1250.
@@gsd32i you won't be dissapointed, it's a great bike. I can see the advantage of the longer service intervals for those who dobhigh annual milages, though I'd guess they're in the minority looking at typical used GS milages on sale at the dealers, but each to their own.
Hi Andrew, it may be that the pull of the BMW is just too much for me to ignore, a little like a fly towards the blue light if you know what I mean.I really liked my Honda Africa Twin but when giving it the beans around corners the limit of that tyre is, well, the limit. A 19" is a better compromise for someone that likes the idea of going off road, but in reality riding on dirty tarmac is about as off roady as it gets. Brilliant bike the Triumph.
Nice ride - where was it ? I did test drive on both and really could not understand what all the fuss was about with the BMW - it really did not have the feel of the road the Tiger has - I bought the Tiger and very happy. Love the running in mode that shows you when you are exceeding revs for running in miles - and so good now its run in
Having had the BMW for several weeks now and riding it in dynamic aka spirited riding mode , the Triumph simply doesn’t have that low down grunt that the BM is synonymous for . However , when riding hard the BM can begin to flex and move a bit and that’s where I think the Triumph and obviously the MS V4 will win if that’s your thing . For me I am totally over the moon with the 1250 , especially how easy it is to take panels off without snapping plastic lugs etc like my Africa twin . Really impressed with the BM .
I have the Tiger 900 and the wind pro and the vibiness isn’t good enough so selling it snd going with the GS 1250 for touring and moderate off-road and Toureg for technical stuff.
Hi, just watched your take on the Triumph 1200.. nice.. I've recently sold my GS1200.. and still regretting it.. 😏 Got my eye on the same as your impending purchase.. they're such a versatile machine.. 😀 Just wondering what gear you're wearing on that ride - jacket/backpack etc? Looked pretty nice and comfortable.. Cheers, Brian
Hi Brian . I’ve done some reviews on the kit I wear , but not on my helmet the Arai Tour x4. They’re on the channel . I have succumbed to already buying “stuff” for the bike which is penned in for being built on 9th May 😀 and it’s sat in my garage . I’ve thrown the kitchen sink at it with some bling which is the 719 valve covers and front engine cover together with a black bmw belly pan to replace the original . After 2 years of , excuse my French … of shit that has been Covid and getting to the age where I am seeing loved ones and friends passing away I thought sod it and pulled the pin on what will be an expensive purchase . I intend to do videos covering the pick up of the bike and installing the bits I have purchased, horn, luggage racks, ez can, mudguard extenders , gps power supply for my garmin zumo xt … to list but a few . So stay tuned as I also want to do things on the tft menus etc and suspension for dummies like me 😂. Ride safe
Very nice review. Thank you. I'm opposite as you on the wheels. I'm a solid wheel fan and not spoked wheel fan. And you have convinced me to go w/ the Tiger over the GS if I"m able to buy one at. Anyways thanks again for the great review. You will have a smile on your face no matter which of these you get. Just thought of this....one thing I'm realizing as a BMW lover. I have a K1600. That the intervals in service are an important consideration. The BMW servicing is REALLY expensive. And for me being a long distant rider only, the service intervals will come quickly. ;( Thank you :)
Hi Mark glad you liked the video . I’ve never been in the club so to say ,so need to give it a go . I did do 4 years many years ago on the Police R80 with “solid” wheels but that was a different career left long ago. So been there and done that in all weathers thing so am just a happy 56 year young airline pilot now enjoying motorcycling for the thing that it provides many of us , fun and friendship . Ride safe and enjoy tiger 👍
The Tiger 1200 will probably be my next bike in 2 years, although I'll test ride the 1300GS beforehand just to be sure. For comparison, it seems relevant here to tell you what I just paid here in Florida in servicing for my Yamaha FJ-09 (1st generation Tracer 9) for valve check/adjustment and plugs replaced. The first valve check was supposed to be at 27k miles (43,450 kms), but unforeseen circumstances forced me to wait until 29k miles (46,670 kms).... $500 US 475 Euros $647 Canadian $715 Aus 8111 SA Rand (Note- This was at my private mechanic, not a stealership).

I'm 20 miles north of Daytona Beach, 40 miles south of St. Augustine. Vero Beach is further south of me enough to have noticeably less friendly, more materialistic attitudes. The riding is great where I am - so much ocean and intracoastal waterway, lots of nice parks, not too quiet, not too busy, mild winters and comfortable summers. What's the catch? Now everyone wants to move here. Florida is indeed very flat, you'd have to go inland at it's 'middle belt' to find some contours to the land. Sorry, but mine was stolen and I won’t buy another BMW. Like the cars, overrated. The GS is too crude, noisy (engine) and has too many flaws- clutch/slow shift for example. Without wishing to be rude to anyone, the GS is for old men of every age.
Thanks for your review. New sub. From your video you don’t seem to be going for major off road acrobatics (or are you?). If it’s mainly tarmac and broken/rough roads the normal alloys would be more than sufficient. Why go for the spoke wheels on the BMW? Please explain your rationale. This is a really good review, especially as you are buying the GS and have a keen eye on the comparison. I'm considering changing my wonderful but range compromised MT10 for something more tour oriented but still sporty, think this might be the bike. Don't particularly want to join the BMW GS club, mainly because there are so many out there. Probably safer bet buying the proven GS, although the 1300 GS is on the horizon.
Hi . The BMW is as some say, annoyingly good. It should have enough power to generate a few smiles . The 1300 may be on the horizon but that’ll be a new engine I guess ? So yup I’ll stick with the 1250 . Got the KTM 890r duke for that extra giggle factor as and when required . Everyone is different , biking is fun and so long as when you open the garage you go “oh yeah baby , looking good and your mine” ( you get the idea) the everyone is a winner and if you want an ADV bike to set your hair on fire then you have the Ducati v4 ( fuel range ?) and the bonkers KTM 1290. @@gsd32i That fuel range is a real achilles tendon for that bike. I won't have a touring bike that cannot get an indicated 250 miles out of a full tank. @@kyleotoole I have a 765 and Tracer 09 so no biased opinion. The Tracer outperforms the Triumph, the engine is fantastic, more bite and more exciting. The rear shock was rubbish for my weight, replaced with a Nitron, it now handles as well as the Triumph. I prefer the Triumph around tight twisty lanes, lower and better ergos for that riding. The Tracer is better for more open sweeping roads and longer distances, and your legs aren’t as tucked up as much. But heh, if you can’t handle the Tracer, then get the more refined Triumph.
Having gone from the original explorer, great engine but awful dash and switchgear, to a K1600, supreme comfort but sooo heavy, to the 1250 GS I must say the low centre of gravity is something I would miss if I changed again.

Die Tiger ist bestimmt sehr gut, Du machst mit beiden nichts verkeht. Einfach mit beiden eine Testfahrt machen und dann entscheiden. Natürlich für den Boxer... ;-)
So what you reckon? must be hard down there at Mansell's being dealership to both BMW and Triumph, as Triumph are wanting BMW's adventure title, from all the reviews around, Triumph are close, but still not there, prefer the look of the GS, and the spoked wheels are the game changer if you ever want to do some good off-roading.
It is pretty close, that engine is very good but lacks the low down grunt of the gs. Either bike is a great bike, but the BMW is just so annoyingly good. Me, well I've done all the track day stuff and am now happy with sub 150 hp! Ducati MS/KTM etc just too bonkers. But well done Triumph it really is that good. Not everyone wants the 21 " front wheel, I do think Triumph have possibly dropped the ball with the no spoked option.
@@gsd32i in the same thinking, I still have my GSXR K1 1000, but traded in my street Triple for my GS, as I would have lost my licence on that asbo machine. Love my little GS, already spoke to James at Mansells, my next future purchase is spoke wheels for my GS, prefer the 750 over the 850 as it fits me well, 850 was too tall for me and I didn't want to have a bike lowered changing all the geometry of the bike. Came very very close in buying a tiger not too long ago, but was turned to the darkside and bought a GS
@@gsd32i Don't worry, it's an oft repeated internet myth, not helped by the fact that the engine has a characteristic rattle, especially on the left cylinder (hence lots of YT vids on a non-issue). Had GSs for six years and been around the gs forums for a similar time. I've seen a few mentions of engine rebuilds on a handful of occasions (under unexplained circumstances), as well as some experience paint finish issues on the shaft drive (possibly down to upkeep). Also there's some suspicion that the tracker that used to come as standard is a parasitic drain on the battery, But other than that, given the shed load of bikes sold, there are very few issues.
Really disagree with this. I did 4000 miles on the GS including the Pyrenees. Competent definitely. But the opposition is way more interesting without any downside except the perception of reliability. I have owned 13 Ducati’s and have never been stranded. I have been stranded with two of my 5 KTMs. I have never been stranded with any of my 11 Triumphs. I keep 4 bikes at a time and have been riding for 35 years. The reliability issues are always electrical.
Habt ihr schon gemerkt das der Tiger kastriert ist und nur schlappe 200 km/h läuft. KTM 12190 , GS 1250, Dukati Multistrada fahren locker davon. Ist das Fahrwerk zu schlecht? Einfach enttäuschend.
Bruce I’m with you on that one. Good job we all have different tastes . Hopefully I won’t be too gutted if and when the new one comes out but I don’t fancy having a mk1 model …..
I have to say that the Tiger was very comfortable , I wouldn't like to say if it was a better road bike, but its really close. The suspension was good with little front end dive . Would have to ride them back to back to be honest . I wouldn't buy the GS with solid wheels if that was the only option. Fortunately it is an option, so more money thrown at the BM. The Tiger really is a great bike.
I’m thinking the BMW is going to hold its value better than the Triumph if that’s of concern to you. That being said,I’m sure the Triumph is a fine machine.
I'll stick to the GS, much more low down torque and lean angle, the Tiger bottoms out in fast corners. Suspension of the GS is substantially better, no diving at all when breaking hard. And finally, the GS is financially a much better investment then the Triumph.
There have been a number of reviews where Reviewers have said that the Triumph is just trying to be the GS, so stay with your order and have the real thing
Yup will do . The triumph I suspect will have a bit more go up at the top of the rev range …. The triumph was a very good bike But it’s the gs for me 👍
It’s only “the real thing” if you want a flat twin BMW. Not all of us want that and I’d suggest that it’d be a very lazy reviewer that makes that kind of comment. As someone that wouldn’t buy either, I thought this review was fair.
I like the Triumph over the BMWgs. nicer looking bike too IMO
I drive 1200 GS since 2004 and I've got my third 1200 GS since October 2014. I ordered a 1200 Tiger GT Explorer. Delivery somewhere in June if all goes well ... .
enjoy 👍
May explain why? And is it cheaper?
@@DieTabbi , because after 18 years, I wanted a different engine but still a shaft-driven big cubic inches. A 3 cilinder was the best choise then for me. Prices are equal. @Travelin'Ben : for sure the BMW holds it 's value better, but pleasure comes first for me. And after all, the shape and the fairings of the newest Tiger really do please me. The looks are very dynamic as well !
I'd buy the 🐅 because it's not a GS!!
That’s the exact same reason I’d have the Triumph…the GS is just so common!
well said ,agree 100%
Just picked up my GT Explorer, rode the GS on a Toro Adventure Tour but love the balance of the Triumph.
Being a lazy S*d I can also walk it without hitting my shins on the cylinder heads of the BMW. Also there's no back light instruments on the BMW unlike the Triumph.
Enjoy 😊
Rally Pro and wired wheels are sorted. Brings it up to roughly the same price as the GS, however it has a number of extras as standard that would need to be added on the GS so actually cheaper
Like most things in life, it’ll be down to what you like the look of , even if it doesn’t have all the ticks in the box . Can’t deny the triumph is a very good machine. 👍
Being tall I found my knees up against the cowls that send the heat from the radiators out to the sides.
The model with spokes is called the Rally Pro and you can get it in green.
Hi . Thanks . I sat in that in the showroom and it’s huge , maybe too tall for me . Great colour scheme.
Enjoy . It’s a very good machine 👍
Enjoy. All these bikes are so good it’s down to what feels right for you 👍
From other comparisons, the 1250 has more low down grunt and lower C of G also the new crank setup on the Triumph is more vibey at motorway speeds ,triumph screen also looks smaller🤔not forgetting the telelever front end on the BMW,I have the 1250 and prefer the TFT as well ,very clear and easy to use, However if anyone bought the Triumph in sure they'd be happy .
There is a little bit of doubt lurking 👀 especially with the new 1300 possibly around the corner ! I am sure when I see the new bike under the lights in the showroom those doubts will disappear…. I hope so or else the wife will kill me ! 😂
@@gsd32i 😁I for one would not want to be a beta tester for the 1300 ,the best time to buy a model is the last update before change ,all the issues have been ironed out 👍
Wouldn’t be rushing to buy any 1st generation bike
If it was my money I would go with the Triumph. More up to date and modern. The GS is a great bike but has become the Mondeo of bikes .
I think at 56 I need to try the Mondeo lol 🤪
True, but it has become the Mondeo of bikes for a reason. I ordered a T1200 Rally Pro but Triumph couldn’t deliver the bike in time, so I cancelled it and bought a 2022 1250GS. I hate the GS but I love it…..
I think you are right about the colour options ... the green works.
yup works very well.👍
Absolutely get the triumph, the boxer engine is the most stupid configuration for a motorcycle which intended for off road use.
Time will tell . Ride safe 👍
If I have to get one tiger 1200rally pro or explorer will be the choice.
GS is good but that tiger will be damm good in off road.
So far 1100 miles no issues at all
Enjoy the new bike . Great machine . 👍
GREAT VID LOVE THE VIEWERS WHAT PART OF THE COUNTRY LOVE TO GO THERE THANKS AGAIN
Jersey 😎👍
I have the GS 1250 now and I’m super happy with it after 1000 mile break in.
I almost bought a Honda Africa Twin… but went with the BMW and glad I did.
All great bikes. I’m going through the have I made the right decision stage 🙈 GS should be here in a few weeks . Enjoy 😊
I’d opt for the Rally Pro with the spoke as all reviewers mention there’s not really any noticable difference feel wise on road which speaks lots for the bike Triumph have built. I’m test riding this weekend so may tempt me to trade my 2020 GS
interested in your feedback after the test ride , enjoy 👍
So… GT = rake 24.1° trail 120mm. While Rally Rake = 23.7° and trail 112mm
I was just going through the same choice, I am buying the Tiger. For the record. I had already made that decision before I met a former BMW owner who showed me the scars on his shins from the cylinder jugs when some idiot pulled out in front of him.
Enjoy the Triumph . It is a great bike . 👍
If you think the splines need regular greasing on a GS why do you think the Triumph is different?
Yup, you've gotta try the machines out!👍

Thanks! 👍
Any American from the northeast US would laugh at that. Drivers from "Jersey" (=New Jersey) drive like they're blindfolded.
I have a GS , but do like the Tiger big time .. hmmm dilema ..
Ihave heard the 900, is pretty vibey, how is it for you?
1300 + a ton of weight.
They do spoked wheels on the rally pro and rally explorer so very miss leading, would be nice to see a caption putting that right
Thanks for the input.
I am with you mate well too much money. I am looking at a tidm or even an old tranalp
Agree with the spoked wheels 👍
I would recommend riding both bikes and see which bike is for you. Both bikes are excellent machines. I think it comes down to personal preference. Good Luck
I drove both in the last weeks, my vote goes to the GS.
The triumph is a great bike . Time will tell . My new GS should be at dealership soon 🤞
Hopefully the 20 litre tank is the right choice for me 🤞should have been built in Berlin this week by now 😊
Thinking of GSA, or GS or Truimph. Not sure yet. Presently on the BWW S1000XR. Might wait to see the GS1300.
The triumph was really nice but it did lack that low down torque . I tried the xr but found it too vibey even the new one . Lovely QS though . 1300? I may upgrade in a few years time once it’s had any issues ironed out ! Ride safe 👍 2 weeks off now so more videos to come ……
Great vid, might be getting the 1200. Currently have the 1050 sport.

No Eagles but Kestrels here . Triumph was a fine machine .

As with my GS, there are still
problems with paint and corrosion.
Got a few trips planned, so the 1250 it'll be. The 6k a year is fine for me but other hardcore riders may appreciate the extra service interval miles.
@@gsd32i you won't be dissapointed, it's a great bike. I can see the advantage of the longer service intervals for those who dobhigh annual milages, though I'd guess they're in the minority looking at typical used GS milages on sale at the dealers, but each to their own.
@@Bazza47 If I'm disappointed then there will be the video of tears to follow 😂

gs1250 . just running it in.😜
Switch gear is no problem, I have the 900GT Pro, why don't you try the Rally with spokes, I bet the handling doesn't suffer?
Love the running in mode that shows you when you are exceeding revs for running in miles - and so good now its run in
The island of Jersey . Enjoy the Triumph , great bike 👍
The GS is a very well sorted barge in comparison to the Triumph [or the KTM, Ducati etc].
ummm...they Rally has spoked wheels, the GT has alloy. I have a 2015 Tiger XC, it's a great bike - even better now.
Love my 900 GT Pro. Sold my RT to get it.
I rode the 900 and really enjoyed it . Preferred it to the 1200 Triumph .
BMW will always have that edge over other adv bikes but that new triumph sure looks great!
@@gsd32i 1250 is simply the best bike made on this planet that can do anything when it comes to adv!

Ride safe
The rally pro or rally explorer are more comparable to the gs gsa
I'm 20 miles north of Daytona Beach, 40 miles south of St. Augustine. Vero Beach is further south of me enough to have noticeably less friendly, more materialistic attitudes. Now everyone wants to move here. Florida is indeed very flat, you'd have to go inland at it's 'middle belt' to find some contours to the land.
I'm glad to know some peace-loving motorcycle types from overseas get flight training in Florida, not just the 9/11 terrorists!
@@craigfinnegan8534 there is also that tiny issue of wanting it now ! Just like a little kid! Anyway the new bike is getting built this week in Berlin 🤞safe riding 😊
Why do you not want the Rally Pro? I seems to have the paint and the spoked wheels that you want.
Hi Alan , I’ve just sold my Honda Africa Twin , which as you know has a 21 inch front wheel . So I didn’t want to go that route again . Is a shame triumph didn’t do the gt with spokes and green/white paint then my decision would have been harder . It’s a great bike but I’ll stick with the GS. If I’ve made a mistake then my wife will suitably remind me as to how costly that mistake is . So many good bikes on the market . 🙈👍
@@gsd32i Apparently the 21 on the Rally Pro feels a lot different. You should go and give it a ride. I'd love to know what you think . We have none in Australia yet as far as I know.
great review mate. looks good bike right enough. I am sticking with my bmw, i think the resell value will be better.
Thanks . Looking forward to taking delivery of it soon 😊
@@gsd32i I bet you are, fingers crossed comes soon. i was lucky and dealer had triple black gold wheels in standard and reduced height in stock when i looked end of last year, so got the reduced height. look forward to a review once you get it, cheers.
@@johnpaterson4163 have an increasing pile of things accumulating in the garage for me to put on the bike when I get it . Just hiding it from the wife lol 😂
Triumph offer spoked wheels on their new 1200s but for some reason you have chosen the GTPro which doesn’t have them. Why keep on bleating about it?
hi David, just giving my humble opinion. I wouldn't buy the gs with solid wheels either and I don't want another 21 inch front wheeled bike. I wouldn't buy the ducati v2 either with solid wheels , sensibly Ducati also have a spoked option. ride safe.
how would you compare it with the africa twin. I have an africa twin 1100 and i really like it but you know how it is we are always on the look out for the next bike and i have had my eye on the 1200 gt. i really liked your review and those roads were lethal
To be honest , I loved my AT and if the boss (aka the wife) would have allowed me to have kept then I would have! But 3 bikes is a bit of a squeeze in the garage. I rode the AT 1100 off road and on road when I did the Dave Thorpe AT 2 day course and that was a great bike. Too many buttons on the bars and tubed tyres not for me. But was a good bike. I always say "that's my last bike" and like most of us riders we are never satisfied with what we have. The Triumph was a great machine , but I am sadly,y drawn into the light that is bmw.............oh no help lol🤪
This not a GT Pro. It's a GT Explorer.
I have ordered GT Explorer and waiting for it.
Have never been a GS fan and was looking for a strong rival to it. 👍
Enjoy . All these bikes are brilliant 🤩
I’ve got a GS but I’m loving the sound of the Tiger 😎
Yup it sounds great. No doubt even better when gunning it higher up the rev range . Great bike.
You may be disappointed to find your current BMW 1250 GS order will soon be superceeded by the new 1400 GS model or the 1300 M sport which is already being shown on the net with pictures check it out !!! current 1250 GS model soon to be on run out maybe price attractive then?
Hopefully not, at some point you've got to bite the bullet!
I don't think thee are actually any spyshots of the new bikes yet - those that came out last year were mules. The 1300GS gets released in May 23.
@@samsara3694 my dealer reckons end of next year ! I’ll stick with the 1250 and wait for the gen 2 1300/1400 😊
@@gsd32i Oct/Nov for the GSA, May for the GS unless the scheduled's slipped for some reason. But that's still 12 months away, and probably more like late July to hit UK shores if not dealer spec. So, yes, still quite some time away not to be enjoying yourself now!
BMW in my country is like 3-4 times more expensive to maintain. so Triumph make more sense as big bike who don't burn hole in pocket.
Enjoy whichever bike you ride 👍👍
I’m not sure you can do a thorough review if you never go above 40 mph on a small island.
Certainly not on camera 👍
The Bmw gs1250 does everything with ease,it is the do all package.once you have one you wont go to any other bike ....😀🏍
Sorry, but mine was stolen and I won’t buy another BMW. Like the cars, overrated. The GS is too crude, noisy (engine) and has too many flaws- clutch/slow shift for example.
Without wishing to be rude to anyone, the GS is for old men of every age.
@@vicomtedelomagne OK then 👌 😐
@@vicomtedelomagne so the majority of bikers then😆
You need a good warranty also??
Thanks for your review. New sub. From your video you don’t seem to be going for major off road acrobatics (or are you?).
If it’s mainly tarmac and broken/rough roads the normal alloys would be more than sufficient. Why go for the spoke wheels on the BMW? Please explain your rationale.
Cheers and all the best with the GS!
P.S. - The M button on the left side switchgear allows you to change riding modes on the fly by just closing the throttle and selecting the mode. The same may also be done when the bike the stationary. You don’t need to use the menu button for that.
The joystick you get used to pretty soon. It’s not an issue at all even though it’s below the indicator switch. Street Triple RS owner here, all the switchgear position is the same on my bike too and common to Triumph.
Hi 👋 yes mostly tarmac . Alloys look awful on the GS . So much so that I wouldn’t buy one if there was no option to have the bike with spokes . Just personal taste . Hopefully the new GS has now been built in Berlin and will be on the way to the dealer soon 👍👍
@@gsd32i Awesome! Look forward to your views/review on the GS. If I were in the market for this sort of bike I would also go for the GS over the Triumph.
I would also prefer this, the last iteration of the GS which has been perfected over time than buy a brand new 1300 when it comes out.
Cheers
@@kurushunwalla looking forward to the new bike with lots of information to new gs owners , suspension , tft use , what the riding modes do and accessories 👍
Yes I thought that , think 🤔 I put a comment on the screen . Problem is especially with the new Africa twin , for us part time motorcyclists , too many buttons etc after 2 weeks , my brain has forgotten what to find in what menu !! Lol 😂 fortunately the Airbus I fly is not as complicated as some of these menu systems and sub systems we find on modern machines .. fortunately 😊
You poor lad..what a dilemma to be in not knowing which to buy!! Its not what we think..it's what you think..if u think that specs make a difference then u are being somewhat optimistic as u won't use ²/³ of its performance on the road ever..I just can't get my head around the clutch replacement on a GS..splitting a bike in half to change the clutch is not normal and if u have a clutch issue on your Desert crossing ur in trouble!!. Good luck with your awful dilemma 🙈🙈🙈🙈
Hi Stevie. Appreciate comments . Looked at “clutch”change after what you said . Didn’t seem too bad to be honest. The aim is to use more than 2/3rds of its performance 👍ride safe .
Good review thanks.
Thanks for watching!
Me , well I’ll just settle for being one more boring BMW rider joining the club 😂.
@@gsd32i Had a Multistrada 1200 a decade ago and not got over what an unreliable warranty nightmare it was.
I would really like basic suspension and only the necessary electronics but those bikes aren't being made. Perhaps I'm getting old but with a powerful bike the throttle was treated with care and respect. Now you can wack it open in 1st and it takes care of you.🤔
@@gsd32i That fuel range is a real achilles tendon for that bike. I won't have a touring bike that cannot get an indicated 250 miles out of a full tank. Every touring bike I have owned will typically say 240-250 when I top up; assuming I have been gentle on the throttle. I need to know what my theoretical max is should a long day depend on it. I cannot believe you cannot reliably get 40mpg out of the MTSV4 is you baby it. That would put me right at that 250 mile range.
@@gregmatty6393 yes all the bike magazines do mention the fuel range ! I suppose with more fuel stops there’s less chance of getting a speeding ticket with all that power. In the short period of time with my new gs, I’m pleased to report that this ex track day chap is more than happy with a measly 136 hp and the bikes still being run in .
Beautiful, but suspension is not efficient like bmw, more safety e reliable.
No. Buy a Tracer GT. Great tourer but light and fun when you get to your destination. Also a brilliant sports bike feel when your not touring. The Tiger and GS feel like a bus in comparison. Still, if that’s what you like..
my touring buddy has the Tracer. Yes a good bike, but........I've been drawn to the light that is bmw 🙄
@@gsd32i Hey, whatever floats your boat, it’s what you like that counts, have fun with your new bike. Although, you’ll have to go around denying there are any problems with it and repeatedly say ‘ it’s the best bike in the world’ Well, that’s what my mate does haha. The tracer isn’t as good for hours of riding, but it’s a whole lot more fun and cheaper on fuel.
The Tracer has a very low max weight payload. The rear subframe and rear mono shock suck. Triumph are also the king of tripples
Yes
KTM 1290 Adv S! Simply the best🧡
Sadly my KTM dealer didn’t have one in stock . So I’ll keep my KTM 890R Duke and have the GS as a way of keeping my licence ! Enjoy 😉
@@gsd32i ı just swapped my 890 Duke R with 1290 Adv S. I've never used GS, I'll never use it ı think😃 Have a safe ride.
Having gone from the original explorer, great engine but awful dash and switchgear, to a K1600, supreme comfort but sooo heavy, to the 1250 GS I must say the low centre of gravity is something I would miss if I changed again.
I think its all down to personal choice , can't think of anyone that makes a bad bike! The bike should now be in the UK and being dispatched to the showroom in a few weeks , hopefully.

@@samsara3694 thanks . I may video the bike on day one and give the engine a base line rattle value for future reference ! Lol 😂

Go with the BMW, if you do offroad every now and then then maybe consider the Tiger 1200 Rally but Onroad the BMW is definately the way to go...
I couldn't live with that 10 pence brake reservoir.
Sell BMW 1250, buy Triumph 1200😊
It’s a tough one , hope I don’t regret the BMW route ! 😬
The Triumph is great but the 1250GS is a better bike for a lot of reasons.
No, I would keep the GS. MY OPINION
If I were you, I keep both BMW 1250GS and TRIUMP 1200 TIGER GT
Please can you tell my wife that ! 😂
I’m sorry but the BMW R 1250 GS and GSA are the best adventure touring bikes on the market and have been for years.
Bruce I’m with you on that one. Good job we all have different tastes . Hopefully I won’t be too gutted if and when the new one comes out but I don’t fancy having a mk1 model …..
@@gsd32i I agree we all have different tastes but the 1250 GSA performance and handling is simply unmatched.
What about the suspension ride comfort compared to the gs
I have to say that the Tiger was very comfortable , I wouldn't like to say if it was a better road bike, but its really close. The suspension was good with little front end dive . Would have to ride them back to back to be honest . I wouldn't buy the GS with solid wheels if that was the only option. Fortunately it is an option, so more money thrown at the BM. The Tiger really is a great bike.
It hast to look good too, make the rider brag on it, add bitts n pieces. I like it.🇺🇸🙋♂️

Yes yes

My GS Should be at the dealers this week 👍
Felicitaciones, disfrútala y cuídate mucho
