@@Dan-TechAndMusic How much were sx70s back in the day and in comparison to 600 cameras? Genuinely curious, though I do recognize they are a business and businesses exist to make money, I just wonder how much of a hassle and how much more expensive it would actually be to make another sx70
I think my favourite thing about this camera is the portability, when I carry my SX-70 around I feel like I'm holding a baby and my 660 is just too bulky to shove in a pocket and forget about. This camera totally feels like a return to Edwin Lands vision of a true instant film camera, with film at a competitive price too. My only concern is that you can snag an Instax mini 11 for like half the price of the Polaroid Go and I think when it comes down to it a lot of people will pick the Fuji over the Polaroid.
Yeah very good point, though remains to be seen how the broader market will react. I think to this day the Polaroid brand still carries far more weight, so we'll see how it does in the wild!
Okay so at first I have to admit, I was really sceptic about it not even in a way that I would hate idea of such camera but more so of the reception of other polaroid users; i saw a lot of hate and anger poured on this thing even before it's release... I suppose it's because people expected a new spectra camera or film rework or something but not this... But now after seeing it in a review and thinking about it, I actually love the idea of it and can imagine owning one and using it to take pictures that I would put later in my journal, especially considering that classic polaroid pictures are really big and take too much space on paper and this looks like a perfect format for that. Thanks for the great review, forever in love with your channel thanks for keeping up great quality content about this niche yet super fun and beautiful art form that it instant photography 🥺✨❤️

Hey, I gave you a shout out in a recent video about a Polaroid SX-70 Tutorial & How To Remove A Stuck Cartridge. Your channel made me bring my camera back to life-thought you and the group might want to know about my gaff tape trick. I’m liking your vids! 😁
Mine arrives this weekend!! I'm so excited to play with it. I shoot digital professionally and I've been missing shooting film. I was looking into buying some polaroid film when I saw the advertisement for the Go. I can't wait to just have fun and not worrying about editing. Lol It will be a nice escape from the digital world.
I kinda feel like this is a gateway camera for Zoomers. You know, kids who've never seen a Polaroid before, and whose entire lifetime experience with cameras is using the one in their phone. So of course it comes with all the features you'd reasonably want like a selfie timer and dual exposure. I also can't help but notice the photos are the perfect size to put in the back of a transparent phone case or something. And I'm ALL for it. This thing is gonna introduce so many people to the wonderful world of instant photography.
Hey Ben, you should call your community the "focus group", because to use your own words I think we are way more powerful that we get credit for, plus its mandatory to be in focus to take a good pictures
Came back to comment, received my Polaroid Go today, and "BABY DOINKER" is a perfect choice of words. It has yet to meet its family members, the OneStep2 and the Polaroid Lab, and of course Great Grandpa Doinker the SX-70 Sonar. I hope they get along.
I have an old polaroid one step flash and I love it but Im sorry when I heard about this i instantly ordered one! I know theyre smaller but the fact you get 16 shots for $20 is so cool!
I couldn't resist and had to order mine..., so I have to let go of some other cameras! :) Looking forward to my little GO friend. :) Greetings from Germany! :)
It depends on what you want in a camera! For me I have the Now+ because of my previous experience with Digital cameras I know how the shutter speed and aperture work and it's what I wanted and worth it to me. If you're not looking for full manual then try some of the Instax cameras as the film is ALOT cheaper and easier to come by!
I've only really gotten into polaroids maybe over the last 3 months, and I think the most insane part to me is that on most 600 cameras the battery isn't in the camera, but rather the film packs. That must drive their prices up a bit, and possibly does given that i type is about $5 cheaper, at least on amazon
I'm hoping this can really buoy Polaroid's business the way that Instax keeps Fuji's overall film business afloat. My only gripe is that given they could clean sheet design the Go film pack, why not make it 10 shots to give Instax one less leg up? Like I get that production makes it impossible right now to get 10 shots in the legacy SX-70/600 size, but they had no constraints on this. Just seems weird to knowingly put yourself at a price and capacity disadvantage to the company you're competing against. I mean maybe they had a camera size in mind and that was as many shots as they could get in, but seems too convenient. But I genuinely hope Go is a big hit, which will make Fuji make better Mini camera, which will make the whole tiny instant photography scene better for consumers. Good stuff.
I think it's simply a matter of branding at this point? Or rather, brand consistency. I hear what you're saying, they definitely could have fit 10 sheets in a pack, but they're just rolling with 8 as the Polaroid standard at this point.
If this works, it will be a big deal and make Fuji actually wake up and try for once. If it fails though, it could really sour things. It would lose money, but also anger the die-hard fans who stuck with terrible inconsistent film for so long. I think having 8 shots is fine, because if they didn't it would be able to hit that sweet $19.99 price tag and also be awkward as the only film in polaroid that wasn't an 8 pack. good idea to release it right before summer too! perfect little vacation pack. $120, you get a cute little doinker and 2 packs of film to start. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. If this product fails, I think it is not just bad for polaroid, but probably bad in general for instant film.
im not entirely sure how youtube ended up recommending this to me but I'm so glad it did. love LOVE your content and production. visual goodness and great vibes. simply fantastic and high level. can't wait to see where you go.
I bought my first polaroid (an SX-70) a couple years ago, and now thinking about buying this for fun, light hearted travel photos. What a couple of 50 year bookends to own!
@@jonathancheddar6970 I did! I took it on a recent trip to Portland and it was really fun to use for low effort travel photos. I don't view the size of the film as a downside, I think they are cute and the size is extremely portable and able to stick into a mini book into your pocket on hikes or what have you while the film develops. However, it's hard to beat the price of instax film if cost is a big thing for you. I got the Go over an instax because I personally like how soft Polaroid film looks compared to instax. That said, I think for the future I am going to purchase an instax mini evo for travel because taking film on planes is a hassle. That, and even though the wrist strap/weight is comfortable it's a chonky camera that can't be easily slipped into pockets or anything. Long story short, I like the Go but only get it if 1. Polaroid film aesthetic is your preference over Instax 2. Portability and 'hassle-free' shooting is something you desire 3. You don't plan on doing anything too serious with it, the pictures are perfectly legible but they are *tiny*
Well I’m surprised ya didn’t show close ups of the back of the pictures.... they totally use the decommissioned spectra machines to make this film.... it looks like tiny spectra prints from the back.... But great review Ben!!! I pre ordered day one,,, so hopefully mine shows up today!!! I’m fucking stoked
So funny and fun, and you taught me how to use the timer and double exposure which was not explained with the camera. Agreed I like the quality of the pics and love tnat you can turn the flash off. (Generally a ruiner of photos)
I have to say, I wasn't too sold on this until you compared it to the Instax Square, now I need the Go in my life. Also, since the film goes into the bottom of the camera, how is the thing powered? Is there a battery pack in the film, or is it like i-Type, and you plug the camera into your wall or something?
Long time no see! Apologies for not visiting as usual, I've been...busy. Once again, my only pet peeve to this camera and the Now is the entire *rainbow-above-the-camera* thing. I can see this becoming the next big "my first instant camera", rivaling the monopoly that is Instax's Mini camera. Or at the very least, a bunch of hipsters like you and I and the rest of the newcomers creating a camera war, like the SNES vs Genesis, but...cameras.
You've summed up my thoughts completely, if this takes money away from instax sales then it will be huge for polaroid. If you've been used to shooting instax and then buy this you'll get hooked to the beautiful film and want to upgrade to 600/sx-70. It's absolutely toatie, so cute, the marketing is perfect. I'll definitely be picking one up as a bit of fun!
I can't help but experience deja-vu: the dying gasp of i-zone, or the desperate marketing of the swinger and type 20 film, both of which probably turned off a generation of potential photographers...
@@InAnInstant Also cause I'm a Polaroid hoarder but lets not talk about that now, leave my children out of this. They are good little polaroid cameras and printers and whatever category the Lab falls under.
My take is this: They probably retooled the spectra machines to make this film, which I could see people being mad about. However, this will probably make more money for them this year than spectra ever did, and this will probably be adaptable and will be a cheaper alternative to 600 film. (I'm gonna try and make an adapter for spectra cameras, so I guess I'll see how that turns out.) Overall, I think this is a good move for Polaroid. and I'm not sure why people are mad about it existing.
You can't see why people are mad? They killed big film that the OG nostalgia die-hards loved, in order to appeal to the masses who know nothing about photography let alone instant film. I think its pretty obvious don't you? That being said, I'm actually probably just going to sell my remaining spectra film, and wait for the next time(a long wait I'm sure) we get duochrome. But hey, if we see some easy to use adaptor for spectra cameras, it could allow for some more fun, as I love the spectra camera I have and it only cost me $35 and was in great shape. I'm sure there is some creativity to be had.
@@differentlyabledmuslimjewi4475 Don't worry, I'm annoyed about Spectra dying too. The cameras were great, and I preferred the large film size. However, at the end of the day Polaroid is a buisness, and spectra lost them a lot of money. Having them stay around is more important to me than spectra. And since the Go will most likely be adaptable to spectra cameras, I think that helps cover the wound a lot.
@@akin4536 I'd like to see where they said they lost money on spectra. They never mentioned it on their goodbye to spectra announcement. I'm actually personally not really all that bothered. I was just dipping my toes in the water of the idea of wide format and thought it would be fun to try. I did enjoy it but definitely didn't have fun because I had all the issues of spectra ejection. Still, I used a pack recently and it turned out way better than expected. Just one last rouse before selling the rest of the film to someone more passionate for spectra. I was fine shelving spectra personally until a later date when they had a hardware solution. Though I still like the spectra camera I have, so PLEASE work on making that adapter. I'd love to play with it and hopefully it actually ejects okay lol.
Ok, break out the magnifying glass! An image even smaller than the Instax mini! Hmmmm... need a little time to get warm to this small format. Give me some time, Ben! 🙏🏻 Great video first look 👍.
I live there and never been there. I believe its just an office with a factory attached. Dont believe they have a gift shop or allow visitors:p you might just be a spy from fuji hahaha
Dutch person here as well. It’s been a long time since they did the actual public tours, which only happened occasionally -like twice a year- during TIP days. Maybe a bit longer. Very much in the “we are back phase” and this is how we’re doing, is how I remember it. I must admit, kind of miss those! After that it was just local events or schools etc. Same goes for the store, there used to be a small factory store but it closed eventually, because it’s way east of the country so it personally took me 2.5h drives. It was open maybe three days a week. Good times though! Great people out there. But yeah, not anymore. You could stop by and take pictures of the signs and check google first to decide if that view is worth it haha ☺️ It’s ‘just’ a building (on the outside), some would say. Have fun around here though! Safe trip!
@@_doegewooniets thanks for the heads up, I really needed to know this stuff because I didn't want to go to the factory and be disappointed because I can't visit At least now I know that I can look about the grounds of the factory and maybe visit the town that's nearby and explore there if I have the time, Anyways thank you :D

My favourite compact guy with a new compact instant cam! Great Comprehensive Compact Cam Instant Review, as always! Made my day (sorry, I don't know if you're actually compact, but next to Matty Ice everybody seems to look compact?)
Always appreciate how excited you are for the instant film market as a whole. You're clearly looking at the big picture. While many of the Polaroid shooters will make a fuss and see the Go camera and film type as a step sideways and many of the Instax shooters...can't be bothered LOL you can see that this is a very smart move from Impossible and shows that they're willing to innovate. And who doesn't want to see Polaroid innovating?! It's a beautiful thing. I'd love to see Polaroid doing well enough that they can lower the price of all of their film and be dangerous enough to Instax that Fuji is be forced to get creative and make some new innovations of their own. This Is The Way! Get that market moving. Most definitely Big For Business! Thanks Ben
Glad we see eye to eye on this! That's totally where I'm coming from, this is totally a big picture move by the company and if it succeeds, we all benefit in the long run! Thank you and have an amazing day!
I was so excited I pre-ordered the first day. The camera design is amazing. But, the film size is too small for me (cracker jack card prize size) Also, the film is only available online, for now. Glad I tried it out though.
Hiya, nice video :) Something that may have been missed or just doesn't exist, does the Go have a strap? If so, does it come with a strap, or do you have to add something yourself? Cheers
Always wanted a Polaroid camera but is kind of intimidated. I've had an SQ6 for a while now and it requires a bag of its own so I'm heavily thinking of getting this 👀
Nah, sticking with my SQ6. I get 10 shots for about the same price and more features. Plus the hardware is cheap enough now to be competitive. This is just a money grab by Polaroid. Like why in the hell could they not make it a 10 shot pack? 8 shots is fine for the older cameras but for this? Nah.

Truly! The gateway drug Polaroid needed, and a fun treat in its own right. Thanks Mock!!
Also happy Birthday, Ben!!!
Finally your Go vid is here yey and I also pre ordered so I will be shooting my polaroid Go tomorrow.
Here we Go all the $$$ to polaroid haha
Haha it’s all aligning nicely
it's cool to see a new format!
I can't help but experience deja-vu: the dying gasp of i-zone, or the desperate marketing of the swinger and type 20 film, both of which probably turned off a generation of potential photographers...
I was thinking the same thing, hopefully that's not the case
Love the video bro, can’t wait to try this camera out.
I bought this just so I can support them and hopefully that keeps our 600 and SX films alive a lot bit longer.
Yessir!!
@@InAnInstant Also cause I'm a Polaroid hoarder but lets not talk about that now, leave my children out of this. They are good little polaroid cameras and printers and whatever category the Lab falls under.
My take is this:
They probably retooled the spectra machines to make this film, which I could see people being mad about. However, this will probably make more money for them this year than spectra ever did, and this will probably be adaptable and will be a cheaper alternative to 600 film. (I'm gonna try and make an adapter for spectra cameras, so I guess I'll see how that turns out.)
Overall, I think this is a good move for Polaroid. and I'm not sure why people are mad about it existing.
Waiting to see your Spectra adapter! Would love to try that out.

Don't worry, I'm annoyed about Spectra dying too.
I'm going to the Netherlands soon and I hope I can visit/tour the Polaroid HQ or visit the gift shop, I can't find much information on visiting ._.
Safe trip!
@@_doegewooniets thanks for the heads up, I really needed to know this stuff because I didn't want to go to the factory and be disappointed because I can't visit
At least now I know that I can look about the grounds of the factory and maybe visit the town that's nearby and explore there if I have the time, Anyways thank you :D
@@thl2217 i ain't no spy for Fuji xd
AWESOME NEW VIDEO!!! Have been waiting so long for this one!!!
Edit: HAPPY BIRTHDAY BENNY BAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you mate!
I will never buy this camera but I hope a lot of people will do.
Hope The best for Polaroid, always.
BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!!
This video has been waiting for YOU
I wonder if there's a similar material for the reflective surface on the rangefinder. I'd like to add that selfie mirror on my Now+!
Me: wants spectra film back in production
Polaroid: haha tiny camera go brr
I'm actually really excited for this product though. Will definitely be purchasing
but where did you get that edwin land sweatshirt thooooo
Designed and had it printed myself 😂
Hopefully a black-and-white film will be introduced soon.
you had me at the "call back." This is the first of your videos I've seen... but I think I love you. lmaooo Great work here *subbed
Dominic I welcome you warmly to this channel and I think if you like call backs you’ll be sorely rewarded
waiting for u soooo long,Ben
My favourite compact guy with a new compact instant cam! Great Comprehensive Compact Cam Instant Review, as always! Made my day (sorry, I don't know if you're actually compact, but next to Matty Ice everybody seems to look compact?)
Haha this is an incredible comment. Yeah Matty Ice is towering in the best way possible!!
The baby doinker I didn't know I needed.
Hiya, nice video :)
Something that may have been missed or just doesn't exist, does the Go have a strap? If so, does it come with a strap, or do you have to add something yourself?
Cheers
It does come with a strap! And has a little strap mount in the back.
@@InAnInstant excellent, thank you!
Love the camera but after a bit shooting, I REALLY wish it had exposure compensation for bright sunny daylight shooting...
Always wanted a Polaroid camera but is kind of intimidated. I've had an SQ6 for a while now and it requires a bag of its own so I'm heavily thinking of getting this 👀
Your pocket is calling. Will you answer??
Me too!!!
Great video! (Btw, where did you get the Edwin Land sweater?)
Thank you!! Regarding the sweater, I designed and had it printed myself! Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
i can literally SEE middle schoolers buying this and shooting it like crazy
I know that I will inevitability buy this for my collection because it’s adorable but I don’t really see myself using it more than instax square tho
What's the distance you shoot to get the best photo with this polaroid Go. Like the photo you did on kid playground for example.... 🙏
The minimum distance is around 23 inches! The closer the better with this camera.
Great video! How do the settings of the camera work (eg. Self timer/flash override/double exposure)?
Hi Kim! That is explained and demonstrated at 5:00 in
@@InAnInstant thank you!!
Nah.
Also instax photo's are a better quality and develop faster.

Hi, Ben! --- Well, it may not be as trendy as a stalwart GameBoy camera, but it's definitely cool! 💖
You’re the man Allen!!
Which one do you recommend between these two instax Mini 11 or polaroid go
