Celebrating 4 years of In An Instant with this special episode! Ever since I first smashed “publish,” pouring love into this channel and the whole film community in general have always been a warm fire away from the chaos of the world. I can’t count the amazing people I’ve met across to the planet thanks to this analog way of shooting and thinking that we’re all obsessed with. Much love and appreciation to all the folks who have supported anything I’ve done since launching this program of instant madness. I love you and I’m IN love with you!
People neeeeeed to shoot more Go! It’s a fun, little doinker of a camera that’s easy to take anywhere. Would LOVE to have Go B&W film. Let’s manifest that shizz 🙏🏽
I love the new Polaroid cameras. I just find that Polaroid film is what holds the cameras true potential back. I think Fuji’s cameras are far less superior but their film makes up for the shortfalls.
i get this so much. i’m currently torn up between buying this little polaroid go or the instax mini 40 (considered the gen 2 polaroid now before, but i prefer small film) and honestly i find the polaroid to have so much more charm but the thing is the cost of the film of instax makes it so much better and you get more reliable shots and they form themselves faster…. but look at this little guyyyy
Great video as usual. Great timing too! My wife had given me a red Polaroid Go for my birthday the morning that you uploaded this video so naturally we watched it that evening. Lotsa good information and inspiration. It's an adorable lil bugger that reminds me of a puffer fish!
The Polaroid Go is literally my favorite camera right now. Its pretty rare that i leave home without it, and i have spent an uncomfortable amount of money on Go film, lol.
Oh thank you for including the segment on neon art! I feel the same way about neon!! This is a super cute cam! I have three old Polaroids, and I love them! Maybe I should add this to my Polaroid collection!!
I thought it was such a funny coincidence at 5:30 to see Ben in the foreground with the tiny Polaroid Go and this guy in the background winding a massive Graflex RB 😁
Just what I was looking for, my brother gifted one to me, as I always loved the Polaroid but never had one, this is magical, this videos was exactly what I need it thank you so much 🎉❤ great content
Love the interview with the neon guy! I was in Austin recently and wonder if I saw some of his work. I love my Go gen 1, definitely interested in getting the gen 2 at some point. I wish there had been some comparison shots between the gen 1 and gen 2, especially in scenarios that would highlight the improvements made in low light.
Thank you so much for this review, as always, I love watching your videos! Learning about the neon sign culture was so interesting! I've had my little Go since the start of last year, and even though I struggle with getting good exposures, it's so much easier to carry around! I need to get myself one of those cases, because I find that the paint job makes it really easily susceptible to scratches and dirt marks 😅 There's only so much that the stickers can hide 😅😅😅
Got mine a couple of weeks ago and just got around to shooting a pack. Really digging it! The size and dream-like quality of the film is really reminiscent to the Polaroid Mio to me.
I just happened upon your channel after seeing a commercial for this camera. What a treat this video is! Great job. Definitely subscribing. It was interesting, thoughtful, and I learned a bunch!
@@InAnInstant I have a newbie, overthinker type of question. When you’re out and about taking pictures, what do you do with them after they’ve been taken? Is it okay to stack them together, or will they stick to one another? I saw a video suggesting putting the pictures face down, but I’m not sure how practical that is when you’re on the go.
By “face down” they likely mean just keep them out of light within the first few mins after development. As for storage, I just keep them in the original box or break open the flap of the plastic cartridge it comes in and use that!
Remember, since it's fixed focus, use your half-press to get the right exposure by pointing it to compensate for back-lighting, etc. Also, remember if you hold the shutter button down, it won't eject right away so you can be super stealthy.
Love the neon light place and the Rocking chair. Yes. Neon Lights can be fineart and glad to hear the artist went into that direction. I use fill flash outdoors and indoors but especially with instant film otherwise the photos look underexposed with muted colors. It adds punch to photos. Flash has a fall off so unless it is extremely bright I always use flash. Even if you had studio strobes at the distance you took the ladder photo it maybe a bit brighter but again fall off. So always get close to your subject if you are photographing people. Bring portable battery operated lights if you have them. .
I have loved the go from the start, but go gen 2 is so much better! I live in Ohio, where they have yet to invent color and contrast(for 3/4 of the year). The extra apertures and better flash make a huuuuge difference! Thanks for another lovely review, and I envy your sunlight!
Double tap the flash button to bring up double exposure mode! A blinking #1 will indicate you are on the first exposure of the double. Try to start with less bright areas as brighter the exposure, the less the overlapping exposures will come through!
@@InAnInstant even better update. I emailed Polaroid that I was a dumb a** and they said mail it back prepaid and they would send out a new one with a two pack of film. I just got it. Great customer service!
I don't know why but I can't manage to get a good photo indoors. When I use the Flash the Photo comes out waaay overexposed, when I dont use flash the photo comes out yellow and blurry due to the long exposure. I wonder if my camera may be actually broken because the exposure is always bad.
Loved the video. I also love my Go gen 2. It is the only one of my instant cameras that I really don't care so much about how 'great' the images come out. I just shoot with it with abandon and have tons of fun. It embodies what I like about shooting instant film. If I want 'perfection' I have several mirrorless and dslr bodies and multi-thousand dollar lenses I can use. But if I want a 'moment in life', then that is when I go instant. My only complaint about the Go is that it is impossible to clean the rollers. Polaroid get on that, okay.
I see a lot of people complaining about its photo quality which made me skeptical.. but it looks like they where doing something wrong 😂 bc these look great
And I will always hope that one day the film will become as good as it was before the original Polaroid died. Mushy photos are fun sometimes though lol
I've just ordered mine in blue. I've got the 1st gen but all the photos come out dark, even outdoor ones. Went through a few film packs and the same result so hoping the 2nd gen camera performs much better.
For the price of the film, I wish they would improve the emulsion to not be so low contrast and washed out. I get the charm of instant film is to have that nostalgic look but they could ease up a little on it
I bought a polaroid go gen 1in a impulse and got burned mine never exposed correctly with flash on unless it was crazy dark , turning the flash off gived a ok exposure but i expected something with realiable exposure than my older polaroid cameras ( which they do a fantastic job compared to the gen 1 go ) i mean it's something modern it should be better, i feel i got burned as this new release seams to fix my issues they should waited and release this gen2 model and never relese the first gen
I understand your frustration there! Go Gen 1 was the very first iteration of the product, and while it did have shortcomings, this is just the natural evolution I think. They're a relatively small company trying to pull off some ridiculous things with how small the camera is.
I'm done with Polaroid. The Go gen1 underexposes indoor with flash, outdoor is good. The Go gen2 exposes good indoor with or without flash, outdoor unusable, always overexposed. And the Polaroid Now+, gen1 and gen2, also overexpose. Vintage Polaroid cameras are a better choice instead of the newer I-Types.
Same problem here, I really want to like polaroid but the Exposure on Polaroid Go is always super random and it tends to overexpose everything. Also the film's quality has a huge variety. One pack exposures way darker, while the next one is really bright. 😅
Honestly I immediately stopped caring when I heard that there’s no flash off switch. I really don’t care about having to turn it off after each frame. Also still no B&W frame.
@@InAnInstant There’s a difference between a multi purpose button and a switch. I’m talking about a switch. Which yes, means I might lose a few shots in dim light before I start to remember to turn it on for that. But I also means the flash never fires when I don’t want it to without me having to think about it for every photo.
OHHH sorry I misinterpreted the switch thing. Yeah, it’s designed as flash auto on to make it easier for broader audiences to get clean pictures. Same reason Fuji does it with Instax. I personally would prefer if the camera remembered my last flash setting, don’t need a switch exactly. Seems like a firmware update that would make things way easier,
Photo quality is horrible. I would only suggest this camera if you want to keep it on a shelf, it looks really good. I own one, very disappointed 😢 My brother has a Fuji, the one that you can connect to your phone, that one is amazing.

Polaroids are absolute trash. All my shots are faded to oblivion and they weren’t that good when they developed. The ONLY advantage they had was the size & with the GO they f*kd that up too! Get any instax and avoid that disappointment & waste!!

Yeah, one of the best Fuji has released was the mini 90, and now 99
