- Hi everyone, glad to upload another video.
In this occasion I am restoring an HP Vectra model VEi8 from the 90s.
Made in Brazil, they have a ongoing big industry in South America so this is a nice computer.
Retrobright went really well, I am more that happy with the result.
In the following video there will be testing and benching.
Thanks for watching and if you want you can leave a like and subscribe.
Cheers!

Great Restoration and Cleaning Video, Looking forward for the Part 2 of it. By the way I have the Vectra VEi7 with the 400MHz Celeron and SiS Graphics
Thanks for your comment! Nice specs on your machine. I’ll be working on Part 2 soon. Cheers!
Very good video and very helpful to me, i just bought a HP Vectra VEi8, ready to refurbish is according to your method, Thank you very much !
Hey thanks for your comment! Thank you for sharing your experience and very happy that the video helped! Cheers!
Nice cleanup! That BenQ Cd drive that failed wasn't original, so no loss there. A nice upgrade might be to replace the DVD drive you installed with an HP branded aftermarket CD or DVD burner that's contemporary. They have the same color and same purplish logo so they match a bit better. I've been looking for one of these, preferably with a Pentium Pro or Socket 7 mainboard, but they've gone from e-waste prices to almost enough to build a new budget system.
Thank you for your comment! Glad you like the job on the PC. Great info you gave me with the CD drive, I'll try to find one if I can but yeah, it would be nice to have one of that time to match up. Cheers!
i found a quantum fireball ae i believe is the desigination.....it's a 20gb ide drive that's pretty valuable....still haven't tested it yet so fingers crossed! i do have a p2 slot 1 cpu and board but the board has no manufacturers name on it just a model number that links a megellan board. problem is i can't find any magellan boards and there is no front panel pin words to tell me what goes where......have you heard of magellan?
Hey Michael! Never heard Magellan before, but you should search in theretroweb.com , they have a lot of motherboards and you can search by using the chipset model. I suggest to look for that chipset in your motherboard and then after the search results, fine search manually looking at the images, there can be one like yours or similar.

what process did you use for your retrobright, it turned out fantastic? IE did you submerge it in H2O2 or did you do vapor? Or did you use a cream? Thanks!
Hey thanks for your comment! I used cream 30%, I used UV lamps and washed the parts and paint again with cream every couple of hours within a week.
OMG. That rag is filthy, i doubt it cleans properly those parts!
Thanks for your comment! Better than nothing. If it works properly, then I'll take her to the spa.
@@restoredwards 😁 Looking for the next video!
@@mark12358 Thanks, will use a new rag in the next one... 😅
