    You should upload that bios, it's older than what's out there, maybe someone will find it useful. I also see there's an unofficial Award bios for this, interesting. You might want to look at those cache chips.

      Yea bios update should then report that proc. correctly.

      Thank you for your comment, yes indeed I'll dig in to the BIOS stuff, I want to make benchmarks and compare them to other PCs I have. I have more videos incoming so thanks for the support. If you have the link for the unofficial BIOS that would be handy. Thanks again!

    Had a case VERY simular to that in my "Garage Sale special" 486/50 @66MHz circa 1998. Only thing new was the case and the sound card, lol. Had to figure out the turbo speed LED through trial an error to get it reading the correct speed readouts because i lost the manual.

      Hey thanks for your comment! I wonder what motherboard it had. Yes I did as well with the lights, have another cases to review as well, it's satisfying to match the readings.

    That PCChips motherboard tho. Those are notorious for their questionable quality and fake specs such as dummy cache chips to give the false impression of being more capable than it actually is.

    • @restoredwards
      @restoredwards  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, it is what it is, better than nothing! But I am pretty impressed with it for now, it is doing it's job pretty good and the cache expansion on it is for real. I know some motherboards had them installed but disconnected but not in this case. I will make another video with all the testing so stay tuned. Cheers!

    I like the music, but it gets pretty repetitive. Good video! I'm curious about this computer. Must fix floppy! That's the first thing that has to work if you want to troubleshoot it.

    I'm sure your supposed to remove that pink foam pad before mounting the motherboard

    • @RedStar-dz5tc
      @RedStar-dz5tc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This sounds logical but I have now acquired several old PCs with similar foam installed by the original PC builder under the motherboard and these apparently caused no problem on these old PCs. I leave them in if still in good condition when re-installing the motherboard. This may not be good in modern gaming PCs where motherboard temperatures can go much higher.

      Thanks for your comment! I was going to but then since it came like that, I left it because I had to take the spacers off that were passing through it and got lazy on it... Now that you tell me this I want to take it off hehe, cheers!

    The BIOS Id ties it down to being the M560TG "Top Gun", looks like elhvb might have a more recent and maybe correct BIOS - AH, hang on....
    The Top Gun is 3x ISA 5x PCI, this is 4 +4
    So this is a standard M560, and maybe has the Top Gun BIOS by mistake?
    If the BIOS settings mention PCI IRQ priority for slot 5, then it's definitely been misflashed at some point, you want the 51-0201 BIOS instead of the 51-0505, though it does appear they are "close enough" that mixing them is not fatal

      It is a very common mistake to call the whole Computer "CPU" here in Argentina, people have called it that since I can remember and they continue to do so, it became another term for PC colloquially.

    Don't trash that CD drive just yet. Very often they can be fixed just by lubricating the mechanism or replacing a belt for a few cents. Also, a solid light on a floppy is a sign that you have the cable installed upside down. That's a very nice case!

    • @restoredwards

      Hey thanks for you comment! I keep everything until it's real e-waste. I like to recycle this stuff and collaborate with an organization that when I am full of plastics, batteries, components, etc, they come and take it. So I'm doing my little contribution. I did change the belt on this one but the laser is out, so no luck. But I reuse the motors and maybe other parts. The floppy drive is gonna be repurposed on a new 386 project I'm preparing. Thank you again!
