all in all the mods are pretty good and maybe i was overly harsh in this video, but in my mind these mods aren't any higher quality than what you can find online for free so they don't _really_ justify the price... thoughts? musings?
edit: Bethesda has now changed the prices of the creation club points so the minimum you have to spend for one mod is now $5.

I was around for the first paid mods fiasco in 2014. You need to be harsher about this bull Bethesda is pushing. The only reason we have paid mods now is because Microsoft needs to recoup the $7 billion they over spent on Zenimax.

No, you were dead on. Paid mods (horse armor 🤣) never work because one they're never really that useful or fun and they aren't quality checked well by Bethesda. One has the reward weapon bugged and one they didn't even proofread AND there are way better mods out there that are similar. Plus the fact that Bethesda is making it harder and harder for modders to produce mods for Skyrim. First, every time you turn around they had an update that broke everything. Now, they made an update that changes the game in subtle but mod breaking ways that are really hard for modders to make or update mods. I am NEVER updating Skyrim Anniversary. I'll buy it again on GOG before I do that.
Bethesda keeps singing that "we're modder friendly" song but seems, in the background, they're humming "we're PAID mod friendly".

The only thing Bethesda is doing is giving modders a store to sell in, and offering some quality control so folks actually get something that works. It's like etsy or alot of the digital art sites. Legacy of the Dragonborn has something not too dissimilar to that 'East Empire Expansion'.
You get deposit boxes (and a spell I believe) to dump your items, and it gets automatically transferred to the museum, and sorted between the various stores.
And there's a 'caravan' you can deposit items to have the museum itself sell them for you; I don't remember if it sells a random subset at a time, or all of them at once.
It doesn't have any 'harvest the dungeon for you' functions though.

Legacy offered up to 30% of the income of sold items to you if I remember correctly.
The EEC gives you 10%. I had upgraded 8 outposts all over Skyrim to level 2 by clearing 5 locations in each hold (and 10 in Whiterun hold just to see if this made a difference) and although this unlocked new services, such as indeed loot delivery, my income remained at 10%.
This may sound low until you realise that the EEC sells everything you give them, even those overpriced homecrafted potions no Merchant has enough coin for to buy them.
That means 10% of a 18.000 Septim potion times 500 of these potions for example, which I easily grow its ingredients for at Goldenhills.

I think for 5 bucks it would be barely “worth it” and a lot of it would just be because with paid mods the developers will all get paid some from it, but even then again each $5 would have to be split between all of them & bethesda. Would prolly be so fractional
Theres hella alternatives mods for most of these, so youd mostly be hinging on the arquebus quest portion & the east empire loot feature being worth it. But yea looting actually becomes useless mid-late game usually when ur rolling in money. Paid mods are just dumb its not even bethesda personally making them. They dont patch the mods either so wtf? For the price (considering what the official DLC costs like Dragonborn and Dawnguard) I think I would expect a bit more than that - the armor mod though, sorry that is absurd. The issue I think is the mod makers get to set the price if I understand properly? There is bound to be a disconnect in value for content there at some point. But seriously, Legacy of the Dragonborn has a safehouse with a sell your junk feature and displays your stuff in a museum for free; the only thing it doesn't have is a lug your junk back feature but you have shipping crates outside every inn which is close.... but the fact that Bethesda broke far better FREE mods to do this update is really aggravating (I say as I finish downgrade to 1.5.97). Consider the following.
You make a game, with a plan to update it with a cool magic system.
A modder comes along and makes a cool magic system within weeks because millions of people working for free and fun can make a product infinitely faster than you can pay your workers to do so.
How are you going to update your game with a cool magic system now? They used the exact idea you wanted and it fits perfectly with the game. So many people refuse to play the game without that mod.
How do you update your game and continue to profit from YOUR OWN WORK when you can't use any of those ideas without taking donations away from the modders and creating backlash?
The single only reasonable method is to buy out the mod from the modder.

It also fosters a sense of wanting to keep your mod yours and not let anyone else make derivatives or attachments or patches, etc. There are many reasons this can go poorly, but what it all boils down to is "we don't trust the big company that just cratered our saves and other mods to not screw us if we just go along with this." They didn't learn their lesson the last time, so they are trying again.

@@TraktorTarzan I won't sugar coat this. There's not an issue with them getting paid, it's ignorant to think that's the problem. No one has a problem donating to the Modders they like if they have donations set up.
Likewise, we don't have a problem with modders getting paid to make these creations, and they already got paid for doing it. But as consumers, if we have the option to pay or get a mod that's just as good or better for free, we're gonna take the free option.
It's not the fault of the Modders being contracted to do this, it's Bethesda's fault. They can do better than hire them for Creation Club add-ons. They proved it with Eleanora as they hired her to do some stuff for Starfield's development.
Think of it like this. Why do people pirate? Do they just want it for free? Statistically, this is true for a small handful of those who sail the seas, but for most, it's because of poor service. If there was a better service being made that's paid, people would happily buy it instead of pirating it.
