@vanitarattan I have tried over-the-counter individual products recommended by you and your kit for the recommended amount of time according to the instructions. Neither strategy has worked to reduce my melasma (mainly under the eye area). I stay out of the sun and do a decent job of wearing sunscreen while indoors. If the next step is to see a clinician, can you recommend doctors or clinics in the USA? Thanks.

Hello dr v, we didn't know much about using sunscreen before this year and my mom suffered from extreme hyper pigmentation as a result. She has to cook and stand next to a stove with the blazing sunlight coming from the window right in front of the table top. She has been consistent with her skin care, and uses a good vit c serum in the morning along with a silicone based water resistant mineral sunscreen (her face sweats a lot, she has oily skin but i think the excessive sweating can also be a result of menopause and obviously the humid bombay weather). She usually gets very tired to wash her face the second time at night but i try my best to motivate her. I gave her a kojic acid and other ingredients that fight pigmentation cream(a pharmacy based product) and retinol serum along with a ceramide and peptide based moisturizer. Her skin makes great progress in winter but all is lost as soon as the weather changes. She also gets puffy eyes. She has become very pessimistic about the whole skin care game and thinks that her skin will only improve if we move to a colder region of india or abroad which is sadly not possible (her skin improved a lot in just 5 days when we visited a snowy region). Could you please recommend something? She has been pretty much consistent since 2 years. She has worked so hard to provide for us and it just sad to see her feel bad about her skin.

Do something with the window... find a sun glare or uv-filter the glass of the window. Make sure to not use any actives before cooking... just the sunscreen alone thickly. And wash off her face with cold water after cooking, then start her morning skincare all over again after cooking. Just my thoughts dear... hope it helps 😊

I recently started to use retinal and it was improving by skin texture soo much I didn’t want to stop. Hi Dr V. After one injury my scar turns in Keloid. I lost so much money in dermabrasion, Laser. Now I stopped because it went with a high pigmentation and its still almost the same if not worse. At this point I will be happy if he just can have my normal skin color.

Hello Dr. Thank you for all your hard work for people of colour. I wanted to ask if your recommendations will work on the neck area as well? I am fine medically, so I am thinking that the darkening of the sides of my neck, where a chain would rest, is due to hormones, pregnancy and menopause (I am 48). It looks really strange, so I hope that you can answer this, and I will have some idea what to do.
    Love and blessings.

Hi Dr.V, just found your channel. Love it. Bought yr Skin Revolution book too. In the E-book, its stated that Skin of Color should avoid steaming. Besides Melasma, I have blackheads too. That's why I steam (10 mins) so that the blackheads can be removed more easily. May I know your thoughts on steaming. Could you do a video on how to treat blackheads/whiteheads and prevent /minimise them? Thanks.
