    You should have just removed the jackshaft plate altogether. You could have sold it for $40 towards a torque converter. Your biggest obstacle is tire size and weight vs centrifugal clutch. If you add the biggest rear sprocket you can get, you will move but the engagement is too extreme for the clutch shoes. Your going to get a lot of excessive wear starting out and every time you let off the throttle you completely drop the load and it will then slip like son of a gun till it grips again. Your going to see bluing on the outside edges of your clutch shoes and will be etching the surface of the housing in a short time. It's a good theory, I tried it on a ct200u with the same results.

      I'll say this. This is my girlfriends bike and she is 64 years old and she only wants to go 15mph. The factory clutch is junk I replaced with a max torque clutch from gopowersports.com. We are not out there to do crazy trail riding just a couple old folks enjoying out time together.

    Just get a bigger (like 60 tooth) rear sprocket and you'll get more acceleration and still have way better than stock top speed

    make that piece into a chain guide and install a chain tensioner with a roller wheel and your chain is too tight, you can mount a thick peice of plastic there for the chain to slide on.

  • @ratoneJR
    @ratoneJR 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You did this, but why? In my 50+ years of mini bike fiddling, longer chains create more problems. Centrifugal weight causes chains to fly off more easily. Plus the jack shaft lowered your gear ratio. Eliminating it caused a loss of torque.
    Then you destroyed the jack shaft in the process. Removing 4 bolts would have saved your jack shaft.
    The jack shaft is worth useing, even if there is more maint.

    I just got a BT200X used from the Coleman dealership and it's acting all kinds of weird. I get engine vibrations and whining noises and total lack of power. I tore apart the centrifugal clutch and cleaned and sanded and greased it then put it back together. It was completely bone dry in there so I doubt it was operating correctly.
    I clipped the throttle stop tab and zip tied the governor spring. That helped but I still have a bit of vibration at a certain RPM and the bike still makes a whining noise like there's an engine brake on it. I was thinking of deleting the jack shaft and just running it straight chain. It's been 2 years since you've done this mod. Has it improved the riding or are you blowing through clutches?
    I am going to be checking the flywheel nut next to see if maybe it's loose and that could be what's causing the vibrations. I may just say TO HELL WITH IT and put a TC on it instead of straight chaining it. I just see these guys on these doodlebugs out on the streets and highways with straight chains doing 60 and 70 mph like maniacs and I'm like..." How are these bikes not blowing up?" And than follow that with... "How can I make my bike go that fast?!"

    Can any possible tell me why clutch heats up with a one chain setup

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      One reason is the gearing is no longer ideal. Another reason is how you ride. If you are on and off the clutch they will heat up even with the stock Coleman gearing. Even worse without the jackshaft. And if the engine could talk it would be begging you to put the jackshaft back on or to get a torque converter. Life is much easier for the engine and clutch with 10/1 gearing than it is with 5/1 gearing.

    • @Partnerthedog
      @Partnerthedog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You combine the 2 separate chains using one of the existing masterlinks. Then you mock it up and break it making sure its the right place and you leave yourself the most room for adjusting tightness, make it as long as you can because if you go too short you can't go back. I ended up putting my jackshaft back on and installing a 60t rear sprocket because I use mine for crazy offroading

    No one answered my question and I did this to my bike now it sucks ass won't accelerate its geared so wrong now.

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is that this gearing sucks ass. If you do not want to put the jackshaft back on you have 3 options.
      1. Change the rear sprocket. A 60 tooth would be better but still may not be enough. Or find a 70+ tooth sprocket. A 70+ tooth would be a better option than the 60.
      2. Install a torque converter. This will give you good low end and decent top speed. A torque converter changes a pretty fun bike into a very fun bike.
      3. Build a very powerful engine and get a very expensive clutch to go with it.

      @@Deucealive75 i ordered a 60 rear instead of the stock 50 and decided to put the jackshaft back on, it was already really fun with a 50, I have valve spring upgrade and intake and exhaust and racing spark plug upgraded lines and fuel filter and ebc brake pads I took the governor gear out correctly took the engine apart and all.

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Partnerthedog So you are back to the jackshaft and 50 tooth?
      So you removed the governor and are putting heavier valve springs in it? If ran this way you may end up spinning the engine faster than it was designed to handle. The connecting rod should wear out faster and possibly break while riding. When ever the governor is removed on these engines a billet rod and flywheel are needed for safer high RPM operation.

    • @Partnerthedog
      @Partnerthedog 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Deucealive75 i made it straight chain 12front 50 rear and it wasn't fun to ride anymore. So I ordered a 60t rear today and a longer chain and im going to put the jackshaft back on. Like I said I have alot of mods so it was already fun with a 50 rear and the jackshaft on so the 60 rear should make it accelerate faster and so I won't need high rpm as much. I'm not worried about blowing the engine I use mine on rough off road terrain so im lucky when I can go full throttle for 4 seconds before letting off. I just want acceleration not top speed for offroad adventures

    That's not a good ratio for a tall tire mini bike. Should get nice top speed but will take forever to get there.

      @Deucealive75 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Partnerthedog If the chain clearance is there a 60 tooth sprocket would help. It wouldn't be a dramatic change but would help. And if you decide to get a torque converter the 60 tooth works well with that. In my opinion every Coleman 200 with a torque converter needs a 60 tooth sprocket.
