You bring up several good points, and things I've thought about. I'm approaching that phase of my life where I'll have everything I want, no debt (own my house outright),work that I truly enjoy, plenty of money. etc. I've wondered, once I get there, what then? And I believe that answer comes down to: people/relationships. I don't want to wake up one day having everything I could ever possibly have wanted, only to be alone. So, in my process of "getting there" I'm trying to be intentional about cultivating the relationships I want to carry with me into the future. I've also taken a minimalist approach to family/friends and walked away from unhealthy or toxic people, which has freed me up to focus on the ones where the relationship is enjoyable, and mutually beneficial.

Great video. I love the simplicity of your retirement math. Yes, a house and kids are expensive, but if that's what makes you happy, its worth it even if it means that you won't retire early. The problem I see is that we have been sold on a lie that makes sure you take on as much debt and pay as many taxes as possible. " Get a good education (i.e post secondary), get a good paying job (i.e. employee with no tax benefits), get married, buy a house and have kids.".....means that you will start your career with student debt, pay the hightest marginal tax rates, take on more debt to buy a house, more debt to buy cars to schuffle the kids to sports etc., take on more debt to fund their education, and push the Western dream of consuming more than you need, etc. There is a reason the middle class is in debt and broke .
I have been working a second job, reducing my expenses and living simplier in order to fund my retirement. It feels better to get rid of "stuff" than it does buying more. I really feel for the younger people today caught in the rat race. While salaries are stagnant, education, housing, cars, utilities and the cost of living in general has gone up substantially, reducing purchasing power. The folks buying homes over asking right now that are up 40%+ from 2 years ago scare me.

There are blue collar jobs that have a six figure starting pay in certain states, because plumbing and electrician companies can't find workers.
