AGI risks are extensively covered philosophical topic. The disaster it could bring is logically follows from a number of thought experiments. Calling it sci fi and mentioning terminators is as irresponsible as talking that nuclear war risks are just sci fi fantasy from fallout. Just learn the argumentation behind those risks, Nick Bostrom covered them very well. People who put all their focus on the engineering and coding often forget how life-changing their work could be, read more, learn outside of your sphere, don't delude yourself and others.
@@XOPOIIIO That is NOT true. There are tons of people who will benefit from the advances AI will bring, and who CERTAINLY aren't "living in post scarcity" right now.. Frankly, we aren't in "post scarcity", until "jobs" are no longer required for a comfortable survival. Also, kinda silly to say we don't need the immense benefits I'm referring too, when you don't seem to realize how life changing they will be. You won't say no, no one in their right might will.
@@GrumpDog Civilization brought tons of benefits to people, but didn't make them happier. People are addicted to comfortable life but the more comfortable they become the more miserable the become. You know why video games are so addictive? Because people are deprived of challenge and pain.
@@XOPOIIIO I'd argue civilization HAS made people happier. It's significantly reduced the survival stresses we'd otherwise all have to face on a daily basis. And people wouldn't be so miserable, if we still had the economy that our parents experienced over 3 decades ago. It's not society, it's our broken economic standards and corruption, which has made things so miserable. If we were living in true "post scarcity", people wouldn't be so miserable as you claim. lol And AI breaks those standards pretty much entirely, once it improves a little more. It will force us to alter our economic standards yet again. There's no other way.
I can only think of a universel basic income when i hear ai. Ai is going to put a lot of people out of jobs and everything is expensive WE NEED A universel BASIC INCOME
LOL no, he just talk about his company, he's not taken your data but rather using companies data with their permission to build a model. These models output specifically good for that one company, your personal data not useful to him as you are a consumer while he target better use cases for company
dzammmm Aidan went from 40 year old mathematics tenured professor to 30 year old EDM producer Dzaddy
That haircut was diabolical 💀 took bro a 2 billion dollar company to pay someone to get him right
The thumbnail and the interviewee looks like 2 completely different people, Thought John Lennon was the CEO for a second.😅
Really enjoyed this episode, Steve and Aidan!

Great interview. Thank you
Awesome interview. I hope the business takes off.
One person starts doing the work of 2-3 with AI and only gets a 20% raise.
It's pretty simple.

@@SerpkoBakotiinii yeah on themselves and other women
Great interview, very clarifing about the real possibilities of using AI
What papers does he read?
I first heard about Cohere on Gary Tan's page when they launched.
Nice ot hear someone in the know, talking sense without the hype.
I would say OpenAI gets the credit for the big bet on scale.
In other words water is wet.

Sure, the potential for risks exists.. But also, and more likely, it will bring a TON of immense benefits!
@@GrumpDog We don't need those benefits. We already live in post-scarcity society for the last 70 years.

I wish I could have gotten anything substantial from this. Did anyone actually decide to throw money at them, based on this interview?
This is great knowledge for future finance professionals!!
Google has a large enterprise offering, both in cloud and ads. What a weird argument.
You have to disclose it if your video is an add. You're violating several laws here.
No. They're not "violating" any laws.

Probably won’t happen until large corporations are pushing hard for it due to consumers needing money to buy their products
In the US, I mean. Probably some countries haven’t been completely captured by corporations
very smart guy and this reminds me of the Palantir CEO somehow
Screw Google. ZERO brand loyalty. 🗳
