I worked on roll forming machines back in the 90's for the Samco Inc. and machined spacer parts and rolls for them. There is alot of things built with them in Industrial plants today. GM and Stanley door panels are just some of them.

Exactly. He's speaking a language that obviously isn't his native tongue, to teach us who speak English about a neat process. Seems like he's being pretty generous to me, and I understood almost every word...way better than I would be in his native language.

I somtimes meet people who speak my language as a secound language and they speaking it poorly, but even so i still can understand them. Steven Lilie You reminded me of my colleagues who were doing civil engineering back in the university some years ago, they went for a welding class. As usual they were warned but they thought they were wiser than the lecturer, so they watched the arcs (naked eyes) while they were practicing how to weld. Boy, let me tell you, for the next one week half of the class had red eyes, they were complaining of blindness and feelings of sand in their eyes as you said. It was so bad that they were hiding their faces with sweaters. Nowadays they see an arc anywhere and they run like a gazelle from a lion. I learned to respect this thing.

Would you be happy if you had a child or someone close to you working in that work shop. Remember these are guys that employ young kids that work for a bowl of rice. If you’re the professional why don’t you give him some safety advice instead of correcting me.

Oh and as a kid that was working running equipment at age five I can tell you that kids that have to work don’t put their fingers where they can loose them because they were told about the danger and they have better things to do than play with something that they can wreck and get a good beating for playing with it

thats how galvanized pipe is made, i wanted to make a telescopic tube 1 inch with a 3/4 insert pipe. problem is the inside of the pipe is screwed up. it has a weld tab running through it and you cant slide a 3/4 pipe inside a 1 inch pipe. i have tried everything to clean bore the id. basically impossible. yeah you can up the size to 1 1/4. then you have a wobble fit. im going to soak the galvanize in muriatic acid to remove it. then will have to either grind down the smaller pipe. or slice the 1 inch pipe length wise and spread it open and try to re weld it. i checked black steel, galvanized , etc. they all make the pipe from flat stock and run it through rollers like this video. you would think they would line bore and clean out the inside. looking at it i find it hard to believe its rated at 150 lbs pressure. for gas, etc, only way to make it to fit would be make seamless pipe. its easy for square pipe to deburr but round is not. its a joke.

I see a bunch of wrenches laying around...
Use some strong magnets to secure them vertically on the outside of the supports, draw a shape of the wrench in a contrasting color, so that a quick glance can affirm that it is in place and not left where it could cause any damage or problems.
If you can not use magnets get 3M hanging command strip holders ...
Be sure to keep area clean and solvent and coolant free where they are placed...
And no food on the shop floor area... a plate of food is a great hazard to quality workmanship... taking time to eat and clean up properly as well as break times facilitates good working conditions. A time and place for everything...
    And
    Everything in its place...
    And a place for everything...
Old school from my Dad a WWII Vet... it works great, practice is hard untill it becomes a habit.
Good luck and have a great day today.

Take the time to “Sharpen your Saw” strive to be a Subject matter expert in some areas, and know some one that is, if you are lacking in an area of experience! Make some mistakes along the way so that you might know some humility in life but hopefully never loose your fingers toes or sight and definitely treat your body with care. You only have one and it’s your responsibility to take care of it! It will always last Your Life time but don’t cut it short by being Careless or Reckless.
I have always had the idea that if I take care of my Fingers and Toes, Eyes, Mind and Soul when it comes to money I can always make more !
If a job is to dangerous and people are going to get hurt, and the management doesn’t care, then neither do I Care to work for them!
If I have my fingers and toes and I can breathe I will find something somewhere else to do that is productive to me and I know that it is worth doing right! And someone will probably pay me for it!
Be great if you are not then be a better person today than you were yesterday!
