  • This is part 2 of Camp Peculiar's series on how to make an animated film using ai art from midjourney or your generator of choice and the Unity game engine. In this video we go from an empty scene to a built out urban set using 2d ai images. Topics covered are importing, textures/sprites vs. materials, settings to make your images look good, tips for generating the right kind of art work and lighting a unity scene.
    The Animated Film in Unity Series
    Part 1: Overview, Setup and Sprites vs. Meshes
    Part 2: Building a set and Making Textures Look Crisp. (This Video
    Part 3: Cameras, Cinemachine, Dolly Tracks and Recording
    If you've always wanted to make an animated comic, cutscene, short film or, dare I say, feature...this video series using MidJourney, Unity, Photoshop and Premiere will uncover and explain the process from idea to animated movie.

    Great series! When will the camera video come out? Do you know if scenes can be bounced between Unity and blender?

    • @camppeculiar
      @camppeculiar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Monday or Tuesday of this week. Unity can handle .blend files natively and should offer some level of “sync” between the two.

      @@camppeculiar AWESOME! I'd like to use what I learn from your video series on the next project I'm developing. THanks for speedy reply too.
      Your teaching manner is great, easy to understand.
      Appreciated the overview of all the steps you did in the first video of this series. Nice to get a birds-eye view of what we'll be learning --and also good for me, as I'm a notetaker 🙂

    Why did you choose unity instead of unreal engine? Just curious

    • @camppeculiar
      @camppeculiar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tool chain in Unity for our use case mainly the sprite rigging/skinning and cinemachine are very easy to setup compared to unreal. Unreal UI is just a tad more obscure, although it’s getting better. Mostly it was for ease of use for the absolute game engine beginner.

    CP, is there any advantage to doing this in unity versus doing it in Blender?

    • @camppeculiar
      @camppeculiar  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe Unity has several advantages over blender for this specific style of animation. The skinning and vertex weighting system feels more polished and beginner friendly, the camera control and camera blending via cinemachine and dolly tracking is, to me, the best implementation of this feature set, the dope sheet and curve editor are more straight forward, the animation state machine controller and clip blending is far easier to implement and blender while amazing and has come a really long way is still a little odd, I mean the delete key and x-axis constraint key are the same key ;) blender is more than capable and then some, I just find Unity faster and more intuitive especially as we get into particles and and more complex tasks like animating via scripting. Totally my opinion, blender is an amazing tool.

      @@camppeculiar I don't use Unity, so I'll take your word on the those features you mentioned, but it has an $185/month price tag.....is it really worth it?

    Hi, I tried emailing you regarding a similar method of creating 3D backgrounds, not sure if it maybe wound up in your spam folder? If you have the time, I'd appreciate if you had a quick look.

    Great series idea, Im looking forward to seeing more.
    Have you considered using a local install of stable diffusion, it is much more customizable than MJ4 and would be easier to get the flat images you describe. If you like the MJ4 style, you can take those images from SD to prompt a final draft from MJ4 using the flat composition generated in SD.
