  • Edit* BMX Stem rise is actually measured from the bottom of the stem to the center of clamping area.
BMX stem geometry appears quite simple at first glance, and for all practical applications of stem geometry, it is as simple as it seems.
However, there is more than meets the eye and a lot to talk about in regards to BMX stems and their geometry.
Hopefully this video can help you make an educated decision the next time you’re in the market for a new stem!
Thank you for choosing to spend your time watching one of my videos!

Dude you’re like a BMX scientist... and with a natural born teaching ability that’s miles ahead of the other youtubers who let their online personality get in the way of the information.

longer stem = more stability but slower barspins/whips. harder to get into nose mannies but easier to hold em, shorter stem = more twitchy but faster barspins/whips, easier to get into nose mannies but bit harder to hold

So ummm. Rise is measured from the bottom of the stem to a horizontal line through the middle of the bars. Not from the middle of the stem. Please put out a video or mention this as you're misinforming a lot of viewers here.

"bottom load" isn't really a thing, but HALF-LOAD is

Imagine that. The bike has to be one of the best inventions ever and look at how it has evolved. fantastic. Just the thought processing going into designing this stuff is amazing.

Also, I often hear that people would either change they bars for a 0.25" lower, or switch to a frond load. But they don't realise how lower a front load stem will keep their bars compare to a 0.25" lower bars. There might be more than 1" of difference. Anyway, I love frontload stem.
