After one month with my DJI Mini 3 pro sitting in the box, I finally got the confidence for the first flight. Thank you very much, Sir, much appreciated.
New "pilot to be". Ordering the DJI mini 3 and have never flown. This video is exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate that you don't come across as a superior intellectual or as a hyped-up sales pitching tik tok er. Very helpful. I'll be looking to learn more from you. Thanks!
I took my drone to the Spring Mountains and launched it from a 10000 ft above sea level trail. It didn’t set the home point and I didn’t realise and flew it into the valley. Then I didn’t know where it was. I was looking on the screen and it was impossible to work out where I was stood due to the sheer scale of the majestic environment and all the mountain faces looked the same. I began panicking thinking I couldn’t get it back as I had no idea where to fly to back to me. Then I remembered I could set the home point as the controller. Phew I could follow the red line back. So wait for enough satellites and also learn how to set your home point as the controller- also if you move in flight you need to do this. Also to hand catch know you don’t use the land button but just continue pressing down.
At the fifteen minute marker you have a reflection on the right side of the RC controller obscuring the screen making the excellent verbal instruction indiscernible. Otherwise a well narrated instructional video with a nice tempo and clear calm voice. Liked it and bookmarked it!
Thank you very much for the kind words and for the feedback. I noticed that glare during the editing I’ll have to be more cautious of that in the future
Just bought this today - I'm a first time drone user - and I must say this is the best tutorial I found🫡. So thank you very much 😊! Mabuhay!! (that's "more power to you") - from Mnaila, Philippines 🇵🇭
Just took my first flight today, granted it was more going backwards and forwards and landing/takeoff stuff, but figured its better to get the basics down tight first, rather than just taking off and praying for the best. The stuff mentioned in this video is fantastic, thank you. You explained everything clearly and not condescending at all.
Thank you for having the patience to explain the basics - this was terrific for someone who has never flown a drone before - have subscribed and will watch more of your stuff. Excellent!
You might want to consider adjusting your overhead lighting to eliminate glare from the controller screen. Most of the important parts of the screen were blasted out.
I just purchased a Mini 3 Pro that got delivered today. Your video is the first one I watched as I haven’t been home to open the contents yet. What a great video! You have an excellent handle on explaining simply and slowly through all the pertinent information specific to your video. Thanks very much. I’m excited to go through all the steps you noted and get to the first careful flight.
At this time the video is 6 months old, but will still find it very helpful for when I get my mini 3 pro in about a month or two. Thank you. Well done!!!
Just got my Mini 3 Pro and I am loving it. I am not new to drones but wanted to discover features I may not know right off the bat. Great beginners guide, slow paced but very well thought out and presented. Honestly the best guide I have seen for a beginner. I am not familiar with your channel but subscribed because of your contribution to the drone community. Great work and have fun flying.
Just got my DJI mini Pro (first drone I’ve ever owned). I was nervous to launch but this video was just what I needed to feel confident to give it a shot. Thank you!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to actually make a good concept/ structure for this guide😄. I've seen many guides for different topics and usually people leave out important steps because for them they seem trivial. Very clear and well described! Keep it up.
Watched 7 more videos before i land to this video , i would say this tutorial was the one which gave me confidence, i took my mini 3 right after watching your video and went to my local park ground, i felt like i know how to fly just because of your smooth way to explaining. Thank You.
I've had my Mini 3 Pro for a few months and have watched many TH-cam videos, but in all cases (except yours) they skip over details that are important and they presume that we amateurs know more than we really do. This video is the best by far for its attention to that essential detail. Your explanations of simple things, like the role played by the memory cards, and even how they are inserted, is not covered by any of the DJI tutorials, nor have I found it in their 75 page manual. So keep up the detail...the more we know the more confident we will be.
I would also recommend that a first time drone pilot start from a large open field to avoid hitting or crashing your drone. It also serves to visually see how your drone moves with the joysticks - its best to start in cinema mode to slow everything down.
Great video! I learned a lot. I just got this as a gift from my son and I am excited to fly it. I am sure as a 72 year old man it is not going to be as easy as it is for the younger generation!
@@scottb010 Doing good. Thanks for asking. I must confess that I have not flown the drone as much as I would have liked. I am still "afraid" that I might crash the drone but I keep reminding myself that this is a smart drone and will take evasive actions. I really enjoy the latest technology that is available. Love my new Tesla MS and the acceleration it provides! Would love to buy the new Cybertruck even if I have to pay a good premium. One should enjoy life when they can, that is my motto.
You have got no idea how happy I was when i heard you say you dont need a phone to use this, or smoething around that, I have a motorola and it made me so incredibely happy you dont even know.
Excellent. A lot to learn as a first timer. Just got mine a few days ago. Fly more kit coming today. Looking forward to flying it out in the desert here in California.
You are absolutely right. The Mini 3 is a great drone and I will still upgrade from my original mini, but DJI should be more forthcoming about the real range. I never hit RTH with my mini, and probably won’t with the 3. Thanks for the share.
I can't believe how long it took me to figure out where all the shims and stickers were that locked the gimbal for shipment. That might make a good add to a video like this for us rookies.
I don't click "Like" buttons very often. But, I'd say this video is worth the click. Done. Well done, sir. Out of the 4 "Mini 3 Pro Beginner's Guides", this video is video #: 1 [Most logically ordered, most complete, best overall presentation] Side-note: It's surprising how many near hour-long "Beginner Guide" videos never covered how to actually launch the drone.
This video prepared me so well for first flight with new M3Pro. I video/edit for our channel - my wife is the gardener. I will be a lot more confident because of your extensive review of features. I will circle back (drone pilot term. HA HA) to review more M3Pro tutorials etc. I do struggle with flying without being able to see my drone--I avoid that scenario when possible. Any thoughts on that?I'll look to see if you have a video for help on that, as well. Great assembly of content, video, audio and clarity. Thank you. CameraGuy
Great tutorial thanks. As a complete newbie, I'm feeling less apprehensive about getting out and flying the drone now. If only the high winds and rain would move on!!
10 mph or less is good to start. You don't neccessarily need "no wind", which is pretty rare almost everywhere in the world ;) Early in the morning, early evening, the wind is usually lighter.
Turn control on before drone. Turn it off after the drone. The battery hub can chage (a single battery) at 40w, while the drone is limited to 30w (with current firmware). It is worth noting that the controller mode (cinema, normal, sport) via the switch only changes after the initial change. In other words, it always starts in normal mode regardless of the switch position. So, don't expect slower speeds/response if you flip the switch to cinematic mode prior to flight rather than after takeoff.

Hi, thanks for this very in depth guide to the Mini 3 Pro. I ordered one off Amazon about an hour ago to add some different angles and shots to my TH-cam channel. I've never flown a drone before, but now I have a good idea of what I will be doing. Thank you
Enjoyed your tutorial on the Mini 3 pro. I received my drone with the fly more kit yesterday and haven’t had the opportunity to fly just yet. Got everything charged, updated and checked it over for anything not safe or broken. So far so good.
I found this video very helpful. I just bought a Mini 3 Pro, which I have yet to set up. The instructions for installing memory cards were far clearer than those on DJI’s website. I’ve had bad experience with micro SD cards in the past on other equipment, so I was very please to get clear and explicit guidance on the orientation of the cards. DJI should have people Ike you doing their technical communication. I look forward to seeing my drone fly in the next few days.
Great overview! I just received my mini 3 pro and am loving all the great features in such a small drone. I’m not new to drone flying, but I still found this video to be helpful - reminders are a good thing 👍. And I see that the latest firmware added advanced flight modes for vertical video 🎉
Oh thank you very much and so is greatly appreciated. And yeah I’m pretty excited to get out and test vertical mode with some of the Smart features. I have to wait for my new unit to arrive I set my old one in for replacement
Very helpful video, getting my drone next week! Something to say though, if you're going to be showing a controller or item that has a reflective surface please tilt the device a bit so we can fully see the screen. Thanks for the video!
I really, really appreciated this introduction. But there is one thing I wished you had mentioned a bit clearer ... you did say to remove stickers etc, but when you first get this drone there is a little foam bit just behind the gimbal that is actually hard to see as it blends in with the colour of the drone. I accidentally left this in and I kept getting a "gimbal stuck" message when I first went to fly my drone. It was a bit stressful as I had no idea what was going on, until I landed it and inspected the gimbal and found it stuck behind it. So, for newcomers, make sure you remove this little piece of foam before your first flight! Thanks.
Thank you for your video. I always wanted to fly one but was afraid that I am to stupid to be able to. But your video gave the confidence. I will go ahead and get one. Thank you

Full watch buddy.. Lol..I loved it . I would love to see you do more at that park. Seems like a nice Save area to fly and with you being in Canada the rules are very lax when it comes to SUB 250G Drones.. Well done as Always....🤙🤙 Mikey
Great video advice but your light is covering part of your screen can you please redo this part of your video so we can see what you are pointing to please. Keep up the great work
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing! when "returning to home" it looked like you could choose that OR land. Does this mean when you return to home it does not land until you choose that option, or when it returns to home, does it automatically land? I will be filming from ships during sea-trials for various equipment. As the ship may drift a bit, I'd like to be able to return-to-home but NOT land. Once near home, I want to have control to make sure the drone comes safely over a deck area, and THEN lands. I don't want the drone returning to where home WAS and automatically landing in the water. Alternatively, maybe this can be accomplished by redefining the home position... ?
Your screen seemed dark outside. Is that just due to being in the shade or the angle of your camera focusing on the remote screen. Trying to decide if my iPhone would be better for the price difference. The screen looked good on the rest of your video.
After one month with my DJI Mini 3 pro sitting in the box, I finally got the confidence for the first flight. Thank you very much, Sir, much appreciated.
Same, it’s been in the box unopened for three months. I charged the battery and the controller. .. wish me luck

I got mini 3 pro 1 month early. You might get yours soon! I just did the first flight before sunset today and it was incredible. Didn’t get to try the tracking feature yet tho
Thank you very much
Full watch buddy.. Lol..I loved it . I would love to see you do more at that park. Seems like a nice Save area to fly and with you being in Canada the rules are very lax when it comes to SUB 250G Drones.. Well done as Always....🤙🤙
Mikey
Thanks Mikey
Another good instructional video. What is even better, I did not have to tilt my head to see the controller screen. Good Job.
Lol thank you
Great video advice but your light is covering part of your screen can you please redo this part of your video so we can see what you are pointing to please. Keep up the great work
Thanks for a great video, just got my MP3 and your videos are very useful. Cheers
Thank you very much
Excellent video!
You are a very good teacher!
Thank you! 😃
Wow, most helpful video yet for me as a new drone operator. Thank you so much!
Thank you I am glad you enjoyed it
Excellent Tutorial Video! Thank You.
Great Video thanks, the DJU has a lot of features to learn about.
Recording to the controller sd card may be useful if you lose the drone. May help you locate it from the recording.
Very well explained. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. I learned a lot from it. Keep up the great work. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Thanks! Suggestion... you 'tap' on a touch screen, not click. Mouse is a click ;)
