    This is brilliant. Since the upgrade to v3 of Mir, Red Giant seem to have given up putting out tutorials which is unhelpful as they’ve changed the setup and how textures are applied. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

    if you place other objects in this (let's say trees or whatever... 2D stuff...) will they be affected by the fog? (the more in the distance the more foggy) i wanna realize a 3D dolly shot through a forest with 2D trees and i am wondering wether this tutorial might be the way to go. (it has to be in after effects) if in addition there would be "automated volumetric fog" for the scene, that'd be even more awesome.

    • @Pirate454
      @Pirate454  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That could kinda work with a particle based system, like say Stardust. The fog wouldn't affect the trees though, but you could get around that by using the same gradient on top of the particle layer, most likely by using a map on the z axis.

    • @FraggyFresh
      @FraggyFresh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Pirate454 interesting... the showreel of this plugin looks pretty decent, too. it's not free though and i got to stick to the tools i have (AE itself and Red Giant Complete). i was fiddling around with trapcode particular a bit, but wasn't even able to pull of a moving camera shot through a simple particle field, so... (it was always 2D particles which looked 3D buit were flat). no expert though, so maybe i did something wrong.
