    Great review Matrik. As for those stationary enemies, some of them are insane strong for early levels characters, but they are also incredibly useful for sparking new techs. You can, save, engage on a battle with that ogre, learn some cool abilities, flee and repeat. Triangularity at it's best on this game design.

    Purchased this because of your excellent review! I am an old school JRPG fan who grew up playing the SNES. If you like old school Final Fantasy 16 bit style games then this is perfect for you. Now I need a remake of Illusion of Gaia and my iOS JRPG collection will be near perfect.

    Man I love the aesthetic of this game but unfortunately the deal breakers here are too much for me. If this franchise ever gets a reboot with modern game design sensibilities I'll be all over it

    • @MatrikOnStage
      @MatrikOnStage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's definitely fair. Depending on what bothered you it might be worth checking out the SaGa Frontier remaster. It's been updated to include a quest log that gives you a decent idea of what to do next and also provides much more detailed information when selecting equipment. It is more futuristic with guns and robots so if your primary interest in RS3 was the aesthetic then SF might not appeal to you.

  • @PataHikari
    @PataHikari 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    To be honest, after seeing what they did to RS2 I expected more from it . At least they didnt made it worse as they did to other remasters. Now the pricing for their remasters being bad or good always felt overpriced. Hope they hit the point with Saga Frontier.

    • @MatrikOnStage
      @MatrikOnStage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't had a chance to play the RS2 remake yet, but if they added/fixed things from the original I could definitely see it being disappointing that RS3 didn't get the same treatment.
      I'm kinda with you on the pricing too. I feel like Square always prices their remakes just slightly above the point where it's an easy recommendation.
      The SaGa Frontier remake looks promising. I'm really psyched that Square is giving the franchise a lot more love in the west these days, even if it is mostly in the form of remakes/remasters.

    • @davdev793
      @davdev793 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MatrikOnStage They had more work to do on RS2 graphics and remade everything while original RS3 looks much better and they kind of just converted the spirtes to HD. Gameplay wise I've heared that they improved RS2 pacing.
      For Saga Frontier I was hoping for a Remake instead . The game had alot of potential but got rushed to the end and still made much more success than expected. I will buy it anyway if its price is reasonable, love it and they are adding some content.

    • @MatrikOnStage
      @MatrikOnStage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only upside to a remaster over a remake is that it gives them fewer chances to screw something up. I think I would have preferred a remaster, largely because I don't think the backgrounds/maps of the PS1 era hold up very well and that's not something that can be easily fixed in a remaster, aside from making it look nicer. Really hoping they don't mess up with pricing.
