I would suggest, however, to hold on to your long cd dives at least after the opener for when you need to get greedy with positioning or when you were caught with your pants down. I use even Star Diver in this way quite frequently. It's also worth noting that the Eden series of bosses have the largest number of shite that will kill you for using jumps. I know dragoon is a meme but after the buffs it’s factually the best dps in the game. It does less than 200 less dps than black mage and samurai but also brings raid buffs. If you guys are watching this and aren’t sure about dragoon, PICK IT UP
Don't forget since DRG is basically the skeleton in the closet to only run spooky content like doom train and the level 52 dungeon and that ghost pirate ship dungeon and die at til sea swallow us whole and high dravanian dungeon with the weird zombie general with the griffin at the end
Huh, and here everyone is telling me dragoon is easy and braindead. So, that was a mucking lie. Also that outro was glorious. Skyrim bugs never cease to amaze.
That Skyrim outtake is exactly what happened when i first tried Skyrim VR... now i finally know why. (even tho it doesn't matter anymore because I immediately refunded that piece of crap)
From allthe reasons to play this job, mine is: my static forced me to learn cause they meeded a melee and dragoon whas the easiest to learn, since we already had a samurai.
I love BLM because it's BLM and wizard, but I hate using the class because it's worse than trying to calculate the final velocity of a rocket going backwards in space towards the Sirius star system while balancing on a yoga ball and avoiding bullets from a veteran sniper. However, whenever I pick up DRG, I always get commendations. I'm a godly DRG.
Dragoon being a meme job didn't start in 2.0, it actually started in FFXI where DRG did shit damage if its pet died, since summoning its pet was its Two-Hour Ability. That, and it not having any actual 2 hour like every other job did. FFXIV only further cemented the meme in 2.0, where it not only had much longer input delay and animation lock, but DRG armor also had less magic defense than crafter gear (that's craftER gear not craftED gear) on top of Blood For Blood increasing the damage they took by 20% during their burst window meaning it died whenever the boss farted if it didn't get a personal shield. That's not an exaggeration either, you literally had to have your scholar cast an adloquium on the dragoon for Nael's megaflare because they'd drop dead if they only had a succor shield. Also, the best way to use Dragon Sight is to use a mouseover macro. /ac "Dragon Sight" Will make Dragon Sight automatically target whoever your mouse is hovering over (including if you're hovering over the party list). With this method if you somehow miss, it will still give you the buff as if you didn't target anyone, so it's as accurate and flexible as clicking on a party member without having to untarget the boss to use it. There's honestly no reason not to use an macro over clicking to target if you're using a mouse.
I learned DRG a while back, but every time I try to dust off the class in roulettes or weekly normal raids, I just get so confused lol. Honestly it feels like I'm fighting myself more than I'm fighting the boss, the awkward "hold for another 30s" with Life of the Dragon is so wacky, and it hurts knowing that DRG's own Nastrond burst phase + lance charge rarely lines up with raid buffs like TA or Divination since it's on a 90s rotation.
Yeah I got animation lock killed the other day. I did star dive the instant before an AOE came around the boss. I landed and hit my backflip to get out of it but it was too late, I got the backflip animation and then died. 😱
I only have one question only (i hope he reads this or someone who knows about the class) IT IS WORTH IT??? I mean the rotation looks hard AF to do it 100% optimal. It is worth the trouble or any other class can deal the same or more damage with less effort??
Hey m8, just FYI, drg aoe is not cone. It's all line. All of them. The combo and Geirskogul/Nastrond. A little bit worse to work around but not that much. Cheers!

I main as a DRG. I use a controller. I have 5 Macros for Dragon Sight, 1 each (3)DPS and 1 tank in an 8-man dungeon, and 1 for my darling chocobo when we go adventuring out in the field :3
I have a hard time targetting players, macros help me with that :3
i play dragoon cause i watched kings avatar on netflix before finding out about ff14 and the moves were fairly similar so i liked it
I know dragoon is a meme but after the buffs it’s factually the best dps in the game.
And knowing the fight is a huge help also with enough dedication and knowledge u can become a gr8 meme not just the dishonoring "good" meme 🥳💅💃
OR you wanted to start in Gridania as a melee DPS and therefore get all your gear crafting class req's pre 15!
Huh, and here everyone is telling me dragoon is easy and braindead. So, that was a mucking lie.
Also that outro was glorious. Skyrim bugs never cease to amaze.
I'll just stick to tanking as DRK/WAR/PLD or healing as SCH/WHM.
That Skyrim outtake is exactly what happened when i first tried Skyrim VR... now i finally know why. (even tho it doesn't matter anymore because I immediately refunded that piece of crap)
Bloodbath and Battle Litany when the tank gets big mobs and everyone's spamming AoEs is a LOT of fun!
Fun fact about my dragooning: i play dragoon for the simple reason of having cool dragoon friends
reason 4, I played dragoon in ffxi lol. although I don't main Drg anymore in xiv
I picked Dragoon as my DPS class because of FFT
As the "Melee Specialist" of my group, DRG is my least favorite melee job.
Also I hate myself so I main MNK
From allthe reasons to play this job, mine is: my static forced me to learn cause they meeded a melee and dragoon whas the easiest to learn, since we already had a samurai.
Started DRG because a friend showed me Stardiver. Litertally that is the only reason. Unga bunga thrusty boi am me now.
I thought the loldrg memes started in FFXI. Due to their Pet.
and if you miss the positional at the fifth combo you will not trigger raiden thrust
/ac "Dragon Sight"
Will make Dragon Sight automatically target whoever your mouse is hovering over (including if you're hovering over the party list). With this method if you somehow miss, it will still give you the buff as if you didn't target anyone, so it's as accurate and flexible as clicking on a party member without having to untarget the boss to use it. There's honestly no reason not to use an macro over clicking to target if you're using a mouse.
RIP Dragon Sight tether, I'll miss being able to make other DPS panic on command
I started leveling Dragoon recently
The Serotonin jumps release the good chemicals
I just recently picked up Dragoon after ignoring it for 3 expansions. I’m kicking myself for not picking it up sooner
I picked up DRG for Stardiver and Stardiver alone
Cheers!

I just choked on my drink
The amount of times Estinien gets to use Stardiver in the solo duty in the ShB patches gave me unrealistic expectations for Stardiver.
Dragoon noob: I... I just became level 70 and I died so... so much... wtf... is this normal?
Dragoon (80): Nah, you're doing exactly how it should be
Noob: ???
Dragoon (80): You're doing great :)
Pretty sure loldrg came from 11 where it was also a floor tank.
YEP estinein cool :)
Why not weave high jump between chaos thrust and wheeling thrust?
I guess he just follows the opener guide from the balance
Raid buffs usually come out around 4th gcd if people are doing their openers right and you want to land all your jumps into the opener buffs
i just played dragoon because i just think the armor is cool
Played dragoon/lancer in pre 1.x
post 1.x
Still only play dragoon till this day.
subbed
No there is one thing i wanted to know about Dragon sight that you didn't mention. When are they going to remove/change that awful skill? lol
F keys have always been too annoying a reach for me. I suggest mouse over macros :)
That outtake looks like they're halfway to Hammerfell, if the velocity of the everything is anything to go by.
