Contra III: The Alien Wars is the third Contra game made by Konami and an amazing cinematic shooting game.
This SA-1 Root removes all slowdown present on the original game and drastically reduces the loading times. It also saves the high scores and settings.
Special thanks to Erivando_BR for sending me the SA-1 Collection trace log files of Contra III, which made this optimization patch possible to happen.

Contra III: The Alien Wars, released in Japan as Contra Spirits (魂斗羅スピリッツ, 콘트라 스피리츠) and in PAL regions as Super Probotector: Alien Rebels, is a run-and-gun video game originally released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System developed and published by Konami in 1992. It is the third home console iteration of the Contra series, following the original Contra (1987) and Super C (1988) for the NES.
The game was later ported to the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance handheld systems, and on the Nintendo Super System, the Wii Virtual Console, and re-released by Nintendo in the United States in September 2017 as part of the company's Super NES Classic Edition.

This is a true teamwork.
There is some really good teamwork with these two players. Its amazing how one uses one especific set of weapons to defend the other from enemies while the other plays agressivelly. Added the knowlege both have of how the game works with their similar skill levels and this becomes a very cinematic longplay. Glad i watched it :)

Always love the start to Contra III, with Gava destroying that city, and the simple dialogue for Bill and Lance too of Bill going "It's time for revenge." and Lance retorting with "Let's attack aggressively.", fitting the duo in their work vs. both the Red Falcon army _AND_ the aliens coming for the artifact the Triumvirate took from the Moirai.
I believe those 2 aint bill and lance. They are completely different characters. They are still in the contra unit nonetheless.
@@halilshah9369 in the Japanese version, it is Bill and Lance. They just got renamed Jimbo and Sully respectively in English for some raisins before continuity in Contra among both countries became more consistent.

The true meaning of this video game is very very exciting to me because I tried it on the original Nintendo entertainment system.
This is how the game should and could have been back in the '90s on the original system in an alternative timeline where Nintendo actually used the faster processor it was intitially going to have in the stock console. Just imagine all the games that could have run even better on the original SNES if that had been the case . . . or even the other games it might have seen if it were. . . . But at least we have it now, and it's a glorious thing.

I always felt that this game gave Hard corps a run for it's money.
It is the best of the series. Contra Hard Corps takes 2nd place.
I really wish they would've made an installment that puts the two together.
Contra 3 is peak Contra. They couldn't top this game.
Especially Hard Mode, you need give it your 100% or else this game will kick your butt.

Kind of sucks that the two players here (named Jimbo and Sully in the US version of Contra lll) make their appearance in this game only. After this, Konami redcon them out of the main Contra time line 😭😭😭
I mean- they did appear in Contra 04 but only as unlockable characters... But yeah I wish they could appear in newer Contra games, and I hope it happens sooner or not

Why don't companies like Konami, Capcom, etc, get hackers like this to update these games to remove the slowdown from the original versions and then re-release them as new official physical SNES versions in modern times. Even just updating them to run on FastROM and optimizing the code a little removes the majority of the slowdown in most cases, which is another option and cheaper than going with the SA-1 chip. I would so do that if I ran these companies.
Note: I don't want the games to actually play faster but just run at a rock-solid 60fps as intended.
This game really didn't need a patch because the snes CPU runs on magic dust just sprinkle a little and wallah.
