This video was just suggested to me and I loved it. I make junk journals and am having a creative block. This is perfect for me to break that. Just a good day playing with paper and ways to color it. TFS and giving me some great ideas to work with. Hugs from California * L
I am prepping my new alter book pages by spraying them with 2 colours in one spritzer I have coffee concentrate and in the other I have pink food colour with water. I love this combo on the pages and I did the cover also the same.
I have been doing experiments with both. Crinkling the paper makes a fabulous marble affect. Be careful with the coffee. It can make your paper weak. Add a little baking soda to protect the ph of the paper.
I was looking for new ways to collage, I found you! Thank you, thank you for the awesome ideas! You create like I do. I call mine "eclectic". :) Much appreciated!
This was so fun to watch you putting color on your pages! I also use the cheap washable tempera paint that you can get at walmart for like $2 in the kid's craft section, (the sargent art brand), it is translucent and provide a great first layer. Happy crafting!
Your style is so different from mine. I get so much inspiration from you! I love how free and experimental you are. I just need to get in there and not be scared of mixed media
I love your style, along with a few new ,old books I’ve acquired,I’m on my way,I’ve been a fan and been following you for a while,I enjoy your process videos,TY for sharing
Thanks inspiration for my next journal. I love chalk pastels. Breaking the blank pages with color makes your journal so much easier to use , it becomes even more yours, and gives you a starting point. You should try the smoosh and drag technique when you use the water solubles. Slap the pages down and drag them through the product.
I have a question for ya. One of the books I rescued. (When I started rescuing book from trash bins) did not have the same amount of signatures in it. Which threw me off. I lost track and ruined it. I kept it. But, it's very wonkified lol. My question is, usually most books have same amount of pages in each signature right? Please correct me if I'm wrong🤓🎨 Thank you🌷❣
Hi Jenn! That is a great question and I do not know the answer to it. I would assume that the signatures all have the same number of pages but perhaps really old, or lesser-quality ones do not. xoxo- gina

Thanks for the fun inspiration Gina. Really going to do this, I have those supplies and I’m probably a bit intimidated to use some of them.
You can do it!
Dont be afraid of black. Its hard to undo but easy to cover. It picks up pigment well. I use it as a base alot.

Great ideas, Gina! So, if the pastels are the background, I can't WAIT to see what you do next! Do you have a tip so the pages don't wrinkle?
some I've seen also use two pages glued together to make a pocket.
Learning from your videos. Thank u!! Please give the name of the tape that I have to cut with scissors in this video. Thanks!!
Thank you! I believe it is called Strapping Tape.

Do you have any videos on altered composition notebooks?
Hi Karen, no I don't but I'm sure there are some videos out there by artists on YT.

Look up Tangie Baxter. The videos are old, but a good tutorial!

Why not use gesso ? Doesnt that strengthen the page and give it grip?
Sure! Gesso is great to use.
