The Ruger AR 556 MPR and the S&W M&P15 Sport 2 can and will do the job for home and personal protection for a lot less than the others. Both rifles are totally reliable, very accurate, and easy to handle. A few accessories make them "bad to the bone"!

FACTS: Most civilians DO NOT need advanced modern high end AR-15 platforms.
Furthermore, what is called "entry-level" is actually a good duty, patrol, home defense and personal protection or security rifle, as long as it comes from a reputable manufacturer company.
Most civilians will do PERFECTLY FINE with a Smith & Wesson MP 15 Sport 2, a Ruger AR 556 MPR, a Diamondback DB 15, and even a PSA AR 15.
Most civilians do not take advantage of the advanced features of a high end "special operations emergency response" rifle, because they don't have the skills for it, except they end up paying more money and feel better "protected" because it is a "bad ass" looking rifle. Unfortunately, too many "TH-camrs experts" out there keep promoting advanced high end rifles (for a variety of reasons), pushing people into believing that if don't own a big name full of features rifle, you ain't a "tactical guy," or worth 💩! 😁 That's actually a bunch of buuull💩!

I'm watching this for a bit of escapism as in the UK, a Weeble and a stretch Armstrong is about the limit of defensive weaponry allowed. My le creuset pan is a bit weighty though.

When the time comes when you need to defend yourself, your government is extremely unlikely to be there for you. When the times comes that your entire nation is under attack, your worthless POS waste of skin tyrant 'leaders' will run off to their bunkers where they have plenty of food, electricity, armed guards, hookers and swimming pools, while you are left alone to deal with whatever is there on your own. I strongly recommend that when that day comes, if you survive, you work with other survivors to pile mountains of debris at the exits of those bunkers, and then cement the air vents shut.

Yea no doubt. Pistol caliber carbines/sub guns are the best home defense weapon imo. Compact, maneuverable, hi capacity, minimal recoil, more controllable than pistols, fast mag swaps, little less penetration than rifle rounds, quieter than rifles, etc. 5.56, 7.62x39, .308 are gonna cause way more ear damage indoors than pistol calibers. UDP-9 is my go to gun for close quarters. Collapsed it's only 19 inches. Waiting on suppressor
@@jackmemphis777 PCCs have more recoil, a less effective round, will still go through several walls if they don’t hit the target, and are basically pointless everywhere else. They are all miserably loud inside even with a can. Why not just get the same thing in a more effective and versatile caliber, or go 300 AAC hollow point subs with a can. You can just throw supers in for excellent rifle performance outside. Basically, PCCs are neat and economical for training. Otherwise, they are inferior in every way to a 300 Blackout solution for home defense.
@@RaymondTusk74 yeah I might get a 300 blackout at some point. My dead air wolfman is rated for 300 blk as well. As of now tho it's primary purpose will be on my UDP-9 with subsonic 147 grain 9mm and to put on my M15 for coyote hunting

Yikes! The first two seem to be in the $3500 + range. I would be interested in a rifle that is well suited to hunting and defense, and in the $1000 or less range. I get it that you pay for quality, but also, I don't want to pay for more quality than I really need. S&W seems like a good compromise between quality and price.
Some of those rifle are pricey, that a lot for a first time rifle for home defense.
M&p sport 2, holosun 510c, streamlight or other good weapon light. Lancer tactical magazines, get at least 4. Any ammo that isnt shit will serve you well, hollow points for home defence.
Agreed. HK guns are mostly for collectors. HK MR556 and the SP5 are hard to find and cost $3K+ when you DO find them.

Sig and hk are companies, the AK is a pattern of rifle, and the m4a1 cant be bought by civilians. Sure the fn fal is pretty cool, but i wouldnt use a 7 62x51 in my house, leaving the scar as the only good choice of the bunch

Rifles are better at every range longer than a shoebox. The stock and front handguard gives you a level of control a pistol dont, and shotguns are just bad for any kind of defence, since it recoils a lot, and requires massive skill to keep on target, and it doesent actually spread the shot more than an inch or two inside your house. The rifle is just the better tool, be that in a pistol caliber or intermediate rifle caliber i dont care, but 223 is the king in the recoil vs efectiveness category.

Rifles cartridges are great but in 8 inch barrels, not full length. Also 300 blackout in 5.5 inch barrel with subsonic rounds is the play if money isn't a worry

Any reputable ar15 will serve you fine. M&p sport 2 runs you under 800. Throw on a weapon light and a holosun red dot, say thats another 500 combined. Leaves you 200 to buy magazines and some ammo.

Larger calibers will also go through walls and hit people you don’t want to hit. Rifles aren’t meant for home defense. Thats what shotguns are for.

A rifle is good defense for outside the house but nothing tops a shotgun for actual in home defense

A sawed off or bullpup would be great, however a longer gun would be a little more difficult to maneuver around corners. Also any manual action shotgun could be less forging if you miss or require follow up shots due to additional targets. Also the spread may not spread as much as you think. If you want to get an idea of how much it spreads, the best thing to do is to test it out on a paper target with a variety of loads suitable for home defense. If you are unimpressed with the results, there are plenty of other good options out there like short rifles, ar pistols, or even a different shotgun.
@@edgeofthesouth mine is a mossburg 500 with a 18 inch barrel, 8+1 pump action. Double aught ammo. Where I live no one is getting close with two big dogs that will alert to anyone coming up the driveway.
Wrong. Shotguns are just worse in every way. You get more recoil, less capacity and it has no aprechiable spread, so its just as hard to aim. Get a proper self loading rifle if you want a long gun, and in a good intermediate caliber like 223.

Not all the time, if you have a larger house with larger rooms or a big yard then its still defense. For example you see 2 guys in black with guns coming towards your house when you have a large yard, a shotgun wont help much
