    My guest today takes a more nuanced view of things, but she agrees that what you put into your body is foundational to your well-being, and there is no happiness without health.
    Dr. Rhonda Patrick has a Ph.D. in biomedical science and has done extensive research on nutrition, aging, stress, and cancer. She trained as a postdoctoral fellow at Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute and has investigated the effects of micronutrient (vitamins and minerals) inadequacies on metabolism, inflammation, DNA damage, and aging and whether supplementation can reverse the damage. In addition, she also investigated the role of vitamin D in brain function, behavior, and other physiological functions.
    Dr. Patrick frequently engages the public on topics including the role micronutrient deficiencies play in diseases of aging and the benefits of exposing the body to hormetic stressors, such as through exercise, fasting, sauna use or heat stress, or various forms of cold exposure. It is Dr. Patrick’s goal to challenge the status quo and encourage the wider public to think about health and longevity using a proactive, preventative approach.
    I had the pleasure of finally sitting down with Dr. Rhonda Patrick, and she’s honestly one of the smartest people I have ever interviewed. We covered so much ground in our conversation, and she finds a relatable way to explain important science that can change your life. Knowledge is power, and I now feel much more well-equipped to make choices about what I eat and how I live.
    Join me on Episode 967 to learn how to live longer, be happier, and eat healthier with the incredible Dr. Rhonda Patrick

      I buy large tub of mixed organic greens at Sam’s or aldi mix in blender with ice )cold blending)
      And unsweetened almond milk.
      Make large batch and drink my salad with lunch and dinner. I keep wild blueberries in freezer as a staple. Sometimes I make an avocado blueberries smoothie with almond milk. Avocados are great. I make chocolate pudding in blender with cocoa/raw cacao, unsweetened almond milk, lakanto sweetener. Silky smooth and creamy.

    • @ollymounara605
      @ollymounara605 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a difference to beat yourself up for eating something unhealthy. That's causing stress too.
      So allowing yourself not to be perfect is about self-love. You need that as it is hard to change habits completely in one go.

    • @Badabinger
      @Badabinger 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ollymounara605 Naturally everything has to be done with sensible measure, including self-critique. However, on a societal level the biggest problem is not that people are too hard on themselves. Rather the vast majority of people suck at introspection and being real with themselves (because itøs harder). So naturally that's where the main focus should be. But completely agree that changing habits ia a long journey that must be done in small steps. Making too big changes at once is bound to fail because people can't adhere to it. One small change at a time every 2-3 months is what works.

      @@JnTmarie the only thing I am disappointed with when it comes to Dr Greger is his recommendation for DHA which I believe is not necessary for people on a proper diet and may be harmful over time.

    This is one of the most informative intelligent interviews that I have listened to in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed this. It can take anywhere from 21 to 66 days for a new "habit" to become automonous. If you are struggling keep going. Without health there is no wealth.

    What has stuck with me is the idea that various vegetables have varied colors because that plant has evolved that color because it wants to protect itself from something, hence the various colors. Also there is evidence that the plaque accumulation in the brain causing dementia is a defense against a leaky gut. Gut health is vital.

    If youPut pineapple or any kind of citrus with your Kale ....and then smash them together with your hands or you can use tongs or whatever... then just let it sit for a little while it makes the kale soft like it’s cooked. Also salt helps (which I love but some people try to avoid ur) it’s really good!
    You could use any kind of acid though you could use vinegar or anything like that also

    Clean air, clean fresh water, organic foods, sunshine, exercise, lack of fear and stress as well as the " herd immunity" as we had as children make for healthy human beings. I'm 66 and no more vaccinations for me. I'm returning to my child life frame of mind and have began again to plant my own veggies and playing in the dirt! Diversity in diet is key. Thank you for this information.
    Genesis 1:29
    “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”
    Genesis 9:3
    “Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.” ☺️
