I dunno why the revamp of the episode just felt so unserious. I understand why they wanted to replace Lace with a fictional character considering how the real Lance failed to be a good role model, but replacing him with Uncle Slam just felt...unnecessary at the very least. Even tho Lance Armstrong was a fraud, he actually did have Cancer. I think that's what made the original episode feel special. As scary as cancer is there are people who over come it. So hearing from a real life cancer survivor meant a lot to the kids watching. I myself felt a tad bit relieved. That as serious as this disorder is, there is a possibility that you can get better and go on and do other things. Before I thought of it as a death guarantee, but threw this episode I learned otherwise. So the new episode doesn't really have the same impact imo. They could have just replaced him with his parody version, or just replaced his character with another real life cancer survivor, instead of replacing his character 20 years later with one no one really cared about.
Lance Armstrong’s doping scandal showed that deep down he was a abusive bully that tired to run the lives of anyone who stood up or tired to expose his doping operation. He used his status as a cancer survivor to cover up his cheating It makes his Arthur cameo age even worse
