Formex has really started to make a name for themselves over the past five or six years… As an enthusiast they are presently number one on my must-have list!
Stunning watch, Rob. Those bezel swaps keep it so interesting. I'd certainly have a couple, if not three. Can't believe that some folk get all bothered by the name. Very similar to another brand that ends in ex, with just the addition of an extra character. The text printing on the dial is super on point, too.
How Formex can put all this tech, engineering and quality finish into their watches at this price is beyond me ......They'll definitely be on the short list for my next purchase
Thanks for this video. I'm really considering this watch. It looks stunning , well finished and unique with the replacement bezels. It would be replacing my Zelos Mako Ti
Love Formex! I’m kinda bummed that they abandoned their cool suspension system on this one though. I would of though that a rough abs tumble dive watch is where it would be the most use.
Like the watch and wouldn't mind owning one, but that pricetag for a brand with less name presence than alot of microbrands though.. This is one to pick up from the used market.
I have the current Essence 43 and its really a killer piece. And this white dial diver is high on the radar for the next watch. Awesome review as per usual :)
Really cool! And takes some of the pressure off in choosing a color initially. Formex should sell a nicely discounted package deal of (the watch and?) all the bezels together.
I just got mine ln October when they were released. They had an interesting promotion. If you got the bracelet model you'd get a rubber strap for a special promo price and a free second bezel of your choice. Ive since added the OD bezel, and the black one will be my last one. I love the watch.
I think Formex is in same range as Monta. How would u compare them? Like which do you think makes the better watch(es)? For me, I can't deny the variety of impressive tech and engineering they have integrated into their watches. For that alone, I'm feeling Formex is better for comparable money.
@@rpm8865 I can respect that opinion. No doubt they both make original, high quality watches with great finishing and bracelets. But, I don't think any of Monta watches are chronometer spec'd, where as I believe all of Formex so far are. And, I think Formex has another, maybe several, leg(s) up by having more innovations. The interchangeable bezels on the latest Reefs The adjustment system on the 2-pieces straps is quite cool. I think all the clasps on their bracelet are on the fly adjustable, as well. I think Monta has held back this feature for just the Ocean Kings. Formex can also use special materials like carbon forged cases and strap hardware. Formex case suspension system, really more of an automatic comfort adjustment system, is one of their first innovations. I'll note maybe not all the Formex innovations are necessarily completely original concepts. I've seen most before in other watches. But, they still are extra nice features which have all been executed very nicely in their respective models. And, Monta in that respect has kept things more basic and don't employ such "bells & whistles", for lack of better term. I'll give Monta currently has more variety of models where as I think Formex essentially only has 2 and they are all sports orientated. Monta you get diver, 2 GMTs, Field and an all arounder.. they have greater ability to be dressed up or down.
I've owned Monta's OK. That bracelet doesn't compare, literally, not the same league as Formex's bracelet. It (Reef) fits better in every way, every link is like a half link, 10mm adjjustment with 6 positions of adjustability, quick adjustment, easy on easy off, like ridiculously easy on off. and the clasp isn't soo long that you have to try to make it fit on your wrist, it fits.Better grade of movement, slimmer case, better tech, and incredibly 1790 vs 2140. Aesthetically its up to you. check list in almost every other way, no way. you're right Formex is better and more economical. I have unloaded most my watch collection because my Reefs, yes, two, are so amazing, the bracelet is so under recognized and under valued. 11.4mm thick, jeez, if you're a watch head, you gotta try one on. its game changing.
I think it's a good idea but it just screams "fashion watch" to me with the interchangeable bezels. I remember seeing some inexpensive watches with changeable bezel inserts. I'm sure the quality is way above that but we'll see how they hold up over time and a few changes.
Who hurt you man? lol. This is a great looking watch, looks different than all the other divers out there. I'm buying this watch over an Omega Seamaster 300 white dial. The bracelet is much more comfortable than the Seamaster, and finishing on the Reef is also better. I get brand recognition may not be there as of yet, but this is a high quality Swiss Made Watch. If this watch had another more established brand name attach to it as it is , it would go for at least $5k.

I can’t think of another brand engineering so much into a watch for us watch nerds… highly commendable!

Instead of thinking which watch to wear every day, you will be thinking wich bezel, strap, bracelet to wear with marvel of watch engineering.
Very cool feature for a really nice timepiece. I hope they make a 40mm version soon.
Dude U Have to be the THE HARDEST WORKING watch tuber EVER. thank u.
I'd definitely consider a Formex if they made one in a more traditional case. Until then I'll just be rooting for them.
Agree. I would buy one if it did not have the hump.
I thought that initially, but then I realized the reason I like this watch is because it looks like no other dive watch out there. It is unique.
Great watch, I understand that the case shape isn't for everyone, but the quality and specs of this watch are top tier 👌

Great looking Formex, man you really have that macro working great! Nice review Rob.

Just ordered the GMT… can’t wait
Love their watches. Own the Essence 39 - only question is- what’s next
I absolutely want this watch.
Something tells me the next Formex model is going to be a huge hit.
Love Formex! I’m kinda bummed that they abandoned their cool suspension system on this one though. I would of though that a rough abs tumble dive watch is where it would be the most use.
Not too sure if after sometime of wear and tear, would the bezel simply fall off the watch seems it doesn’t seems to be very secured

Nice review Rob. That’s a beauty. If I was still diving, I would have lusted after this one!
Can’t believe I’m just seeing tjis
The fact that the lume pip even lines up properly for each bezel is crazy!
Right. How can it be done here but not on a non swappable bezel?
If only this was a 40 mm diameter watch 🔥
Very very nice... Really love it.... But real pity they put a lowly power reserve on it. Most modern watches has bump up their power reserve.

@@salmatosjr5285 have you encountered any issues with the bezel at all?
Thank you Rob. Really nice watch.
i will wait for the 40mm version of this and 20mm lug width.. pls Formex.. tks RRob
I goone to buy that watch, the make the service to the watches ? With what other bezel color you can make match with de green dial?
Awesome! A Pepsi insert would suit it aswell.
Amazing. Thanks a lot Rob. Now I have to get one.
Like the watch, switchable bezel seems like a tacky gimmick tho.
Good luck to them , I do like their designs.
Cheers 👍👍
Are the bezels interchangeable between the GMT and COSC versions?
Impressive piece! 👌
Beautiful! Inspiring!

Monta my friend in my opinion is the better watch but I like Formex too

No excuse for Seiko not to offer a similar clasp.
Nice looking watch. Cool bezel options. Expensive.
But, for a dive watch being that expensive it better be ISO Certified?
..Is it?
Seems to me that these bezels pop off a bit too easily.
They don't
Amazing watch!
Trying to make a very difficult decision between black and white. 🤔
I’d love to see an orange bezel on a black or white dial
SEIKO; listen up!!!! Will cure all your problems! 😂
vostok is close to having an easily changeable bezel but this is better no doubt
Nice watch , it's definitely worth the price.
cool watch
I liked the watch till you said the price. 😮
Great peice but the extra bezels are expensive
I love the Foreskin Reef. It just reeks of quality and smegma.
I think it's a good idea but it just screams "fashion watch" to me with the interchangeable bezels. I remember seeing some inexpensive watches with changeable bezel inserts. I'm sure the quality is way above that but we'll see how they hold up over time and a few changes.
Alright alright alright
🌹👌
Maybe too easy to lose it
Their new logo and font still sucks and I hate the relief bezels. The stupid name "reef" makes me think of the flip-flops. Not for me.

Flip flopa but not the awesome 90s band?!
