Rob you do such a great job reviewing! Again I think Formex is really an awesome brand! New tech! luxury quality! Great design and engineering! And open to feedback from thier fans! Not much else you can ask for.
Wow, never had these on my radar before. Great value proposition, excellent engineering and design, all the features I look for in a GMT diver. Who needs a more expensive watch than this? And only 11 or so thick with 300 meters of water resistance. And COSC certified even! Other manufacturers of Swiss watches, you are on notice! I agree with you about the winding action of the Sellita 330-2 movement - I have these in three different watches, and much prefer them to the three-handed SW 200---1 which is quite a bit stiffer in winding.
I have a Reef on-wrist right now...and it gets more time than my SMP300, GS, etc...Formex is just so incredibly original, comfortable, extremely well done. And holy smokes the level of movement decoration for anywhere near the price-point...the Reef is just such a special watch, and am thinking of adding this GMT as well...
The permutations or "possibilities" on the combinations can be calculated. I did some calculations, and I've come to the conclusion that it's atleast 5 or more combinations. At LEAST. Disclaimer: I am not a mathematician. But I do plan on buying this watch.
On the website it says 47mm lug to lug. You mention 49mm here. That is a significant difference and can easily sway a buying decision. Can someone else highlight their measurement of the distance?
I own the Reef in white, and I got both the stainless and green bezels. I'm now waiting for my additional black and blue bezels to arrive. I love my Reef, but now I'm wondering if I "need" this new GMT version. It's just beautiful...
Rob, do you know if the new bezels fit the non-GMT Reef models? I bought one a few months ago and that Batman bezel rocks. I'd love to add it to my black dial Reef.
@@RandomRobReviews So I asked Formex Staff, and they say they do fit on the Regular Reef. In fact I preordered the Batman Bezel for mine. From their page: 'The new FORMEX REEF GMT features the patented tool-free interchangeable bezel system that first debuted on the REEF diver, and all bezels are interchangeable between the two models.'
@@RandomRobReviews I was looking at either the black gilt or green rose dial. You prefer one over the other now that you have them both in hand? Also is the green rose gradient like how the black and blue gmt dial is gradient? How does the green rose look with the Batman bezel? Thanks for the help.
I want one but at the same time, I'd rather put that 2K towards one of the watches on my short list but at the same time, I want one... And so on and so forth
@@danielstrack964 I actually reached out to Formex and this was their reply: "If you put the Dive bezel on the GMT, it will still have 60 clicks unidirectional. And if you put a GMT bezel on the diver, you'll have 48 clicks bidirectional. It has to do with the amount and shape of the teeth on the bottom of the bezel."
@@bassoonboy99 wow thanks for following up. I wonder if they will switch to a ball bearing system on the diver since the new gmt is a ball bearing system and the diver I have is a cheaper spring system. I'll see formex at this weekends chicago wind up and I will ask them and report back
@@danielstrack964 I had a friend stop by yesterday and just confirm it all in person...and he reported that at least on the GTM the action of both bezels was fab. I too wonder if they will update the case of the diver model to just replicated the GMT system...seems like it would streamline manufacturing.
Excellent review thanks! I could see from the unboxing video that the finish on these is to a very high standard. I like the green dial version but already have a green Christopher Ward so don't want 2 in my collection. The grey/black dial with the batman bezel would be my next pick. Not a fan of mesh bracelets and my wrist is small so that part is an easy pass for me. These guys are definitely throwing down the gauntlet to the likes of Oris.
I wish there was a true gmt caliber available to third parties. Still a solid movement but makes it tough to compete with some of the bargains from brands like longines. This is a handsome design though.
I have to dispute the notion that this is a straightforward 42mm case (as stated by Formex). I feel like the left side protrusion needs to be counted here - it’s significant.
it does not wear significant. Wears like other 42's I have maybe even smaller because the short lug to lug and its so thin. Don't judge till you actually try one
Some of these features are cool, but there's nothing about this brand or what they offer that justify the pricetag they have on their watches. Rather buy a Zelos.
That is one value packed, versatile, and fun watches I've ever seen. I love it!
White dial with Batman is such a good combo

Love those watches! And so many great choices. Like an upscale SKX!
Plain and simple, the sharpest looking diver in a while. Whats even more impressive is the bezel combos only add too that.

Love those applied indices, that black/rose gold combo looks awesome.
Super excited for this! I pre-ordered the white dial with black bezel. The quick change bezels are game changers!
as are the QD bracelets and bands!
Superb looking watch, bet it wears like a dream. 300mtrs of WR in an 11mm case, remarkable. The bracelet looks more flexible than an Olympic gymnast.
Great review Rob! That is just awesome! There is nothing I don’t love about that watch!
Great review! Gutted about the milanese bracelet - not going to work on my 17cm wrist if it's like that on yours....
That white one is beautiful. Love the clean look.
Great review Rob. Really want one of these! Very polpprofish to me in shape and on mesh.
Awesome job, definitely an impressive watch!
GREAT idea on the modular concept, just like an AR-15 :)
Incredible. I'm thinking of purchasing one.
Wow, nice watches, Formex. Thanks Rob🙂👍
Love it too. Super innovative!
Love the shape of the case. It looks like porthole from a submarine.
Formex is killing it, the bang for the buck is pretty hard to beat, especially considering the Reef and Essence lines are COSC.
Kermit look great. Wooo now I am almost tempted
The permutations or "possibilities" on the combinations can be calculated. I did some calculations, and I've come to the conclusion that it's atleast 5 or more combinations. At LEAST.
Disclaimer: I am not a mathematician. But I do plan on buying this watch.
The very real problem that Formex have created here is that not only do I want all the bezel options... I want all the dial options, too!
🤦🏻♂🤦🏻♂
amazing, but a tad too big, 39mm would be ideal
Formex is one of the most interesting brands out there. Style is always subjective, but their originality and innovation has little competition.
Formex fashion show 😆! I like the watches, Formex is hitting the sweet spot.
Does the rubber strap fits other watch w 22mm lugs? Cos u mention the rubber strap is fitted..
much thanx
So well done! 👌
thaks for your review Rob, is it me or does some of the finishing look at bit rough? love the watch, amazing specs
On the website it says 47mm lug to lug. You mention 49mm here. That is a significant difference and can easily sway a buying decision. Can someone else highlight their measurement of the distance?
maybe one measurement is from lug end to lug end and the other one from spring bar to spring bar? J
ust a thought ...
Hello quick question. Do know whether or not the gmt bezels would fit on the normal reef? I have my eyes on that batman bezel lol.
4:30....looks like that GMT hand is not correctly aligned. Note the position of the regular hour hand. Doesn't match up.
I own the Reef in white, and I got both the stainless and green bezels. I'm now waiting for my additional black and blue bezels to arrive. I love my Reef, but now I'm wondering if I "need" this new GMT version. It's just beautiful...
Nice! Would love to see a Seaholm on the channel.

They do NOT fit, completely different design for case - bezel attachment

To Add, from their staff: 'Yes they are compatible. However the bezel action is going to be bidirectional'
@@XantariaESO can you please let me know how it turns out and if it works good?

White face with Batman bezel is my choice!

White dial, then mix it up from there.

I’m curious, sorry just thought about this, do the GMT bezels fit the regular reef diver and vise versus?

I might have to order this if and when a Pepsi bezel is released that I can pair with the white dial.
I hope they offer an option to use the regular Reef bracelet as well. I'm not a fan of this mesh (just personal preference)
Yes, you can get the regular bracelet.

Very San Martin like!
Anyone know what the brand name stands for? Just my crazy brain…but the word ‘formex’ just sounds super cheesy to me.
From a french porte-manteau : forme extrême
It's a terrible, terrible name.
Very cool
awesome !!!
There is white numbers/black insert version
It looks like an office GMT, not a true GMT but it's fine.

damn, the mesh was super nice until i saw the flaw :/
It’s too bad “formex” sounds like an industrial chemical agent used to release plastic parts from injection molds
Yep. I'll never get past that name.

this comment is comical... They compete and beat watches costing twice as much as they ask.
