Me and a mate did the whole sandstone way route starting at Hexham in a day, 16hours in the saddle. Was a painful experience towards the end of the day and I couldn’t wait to finish.
Thank you for posting the video. me and the wife have just finished biking from Berwick to Beal. We,r planing to do the hole sandstone way in bits. The next bit for us is beal to Wooler. 🚵
Thanks Patrick we always welcome feedback, how did you find the route so far? I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the route, there is a bit of climbing to come, and some great scenery. Steve
Did you use a courier to transport your luggage between accomodations? Update: after watching parts 2 to 4 I can see you had a support driver and vehicle.
very informative...riding it over two days in may for charity... when do you plan to upload the other 3 sections? also what was your average speed over the sections... keep up the great work
+iain charlesworth Thanks for the comments and good luck with your ride Iain, thanks to Strava I can pull that info off, I was pretty consistent, Day 1 Berwick to Wooler, 7mph average moving speed. Day 2 Wooler to Rothbury, 6mph.. Day 3 Rothbury to West Woodburn 6mph.. and Day 4 West Woodburn to Hexham 6.3mph. John was just a little slower on each day. I'd guess hitting 8-10mph wouldn't be far wrong if the ground is firm, you’ve trained and your riding against the clock :) I usually release a video every 2 weeks, it would be unlikely I'd get the third and fourth video out before your ride in May. But I will at least get the Wooler to Rothbury one done.
Thanks for the comments +steve mate, we use a couple of Sony action cams strapped to the handle bars, I am on my second HDR-AS100v, as the first one didnt hold up well, even with the protective case, to me going over the handle bars and it hitting the floor :) we also have a Sony HDR-AS30V, the 30's are usually much cheaper in a sale or on offer but have a nasty habit of steaming up. Hope this helps.. Steve
