    So... I misrepresented the title "developer" right at the beginning in this video when I said "only developer". I meant to say I'm the one on the team who is responsible for the *coding of TetherGeist. Noah and Rae are also developers, with their expertise founded in art, writing, narrative design and worldbuilding.

      @@LetsSmiley We won't, but I absolutely love Rusty! He's a fantastic musician and was super fun to work with on the jam version. As a musician myself though, I'll be writing the soundtrack. It has nothing to do with Rusty and everything to do with me wanting to create the soundtrack. I have a vision for how I want to game's music to sound/feel, and I've been passionate about writing music long before even my passion for creating video games.

    One thing I love about the intro (in addition to the axolotl) is allowing the player to discover how to use the spirit on their own without explanation. This makes intros a LOT more fun, since gamers enjoy discovery over being told what to do.

    Btw, a thing that i LOVE about devlogs is how the creators of the games communicate with us fans. I think you did a great job on that! Just a tip: try to focus more on the gameplay and design (the simplest of each part) instead of the story, so it'll get more people's attention without spoiling it! Also, try to showcase some of the music too, because some people love to hear these types of sneak peeks and can make people more interested about the game, specially as, if done right, the melody will keep bumping on your head!

      Yeah we’re laying a lot of groundwork right now. Future dev logs will be diving deeper into gameplay and mechanics. Also planning on music dev logs when the time comes.

    Looks great, I’m catching up on all of these videos. The farmers market play test was genius. I think in the first portion of the level provide more than enough nectars, so the player can get a feel for jumps in the beginning.

    This game feels like it'll be extremely innovative! I'm DYING for another hard platformer to beat and 100%, because I'm almost finished with Celeste goldens and super meat boy's platinum

    It looks like a huge amount of work will have to be put into this to finish the game. Keep in mind that you need to manage the gamemaking process in accordance with the size of your team or else it's gonna take you 10 years to finish this project, which by the way looks really promising. I hope we see some challanging parkour in future levels because that's really what draws me to these types of games :)

      We're actually still catching up on devlogs, so we're further along than this video showcases. We've got a 2-year plan (which on paper looks like year and a half, so hopefully 6 extra months is enough cushion... we'll see lol).

    I think that this game is gonna be like celeste.
    Hard,but not impossible.
    Beautiful and stunning.
    A really inspiring story.
    And mainly skill-based.
    And since celeste is one of my favorites games,i think that this game is gonna be super good and has so much potential!

    Looks great, but I feel the current environment city art, though great looking, is making it really hard to tell what platforms are walkable, have collision, vs just art decoration in the background. for a platformer like this to feel good, where you can jump and what you can interact with is crucial for a game to feel good.

    I already finished the playtest 3 times, even that is super fun to play. Though I got to say a few hours after my gameplay my arms hurt 😅The game is intense

      Sure thing. We use Miro for story-writing and brainstorming. We also use Trello for managing tasks each week. Both are cloud-based and both have a free version that totally accommodates our needs.

    Just the brief hints at your overall story organization is extremely impressive! The flow chart makes perfect sense for a level progression platformer and breaking it into general chapters is another super smart move.
    Does each chapter have a tldr; for your internal reference? Like, a way for you all to glance at it and immediately understand what you're working on narratively?

      Yes, we have high-level summaries of the main points for each chapter that we use as a guide.

    Just curious, how long do you plan on this game taking? And are your going to take a similar approach to level design as Celeste? As it seems like in some parts, especially in the town, the player is free to choose where they go and take multiple paths. Really interested to see where this goes!😊

      We are certainly taking inspiration from Celeste (e.g. frequent checkpoints, high difficulty). We’re hoping to be ready to launch the game in a year and a half to two years, but we’ll see. We’re designing each chapter to take between 1-3 hours of playtime the first time through.
