@@Dev.85 Old Smokey is not moonshine its a high proof liqueur marketed as moonshine and nobody buys the regular version. They make flavored versions that people use for mixing. Everclear is actual moonshine and its in every liquor store.

first off miller lite is awful, and its a typical American beer, just like bud light. Bud light, though, is the best selling beer, therefore most well known. Yuengling is only in the southeast/east, I'm from Illinois i didn't even hear of it until i was in Pennsylvania, because you cant get it in Illinois.Also, what kind of the 180 different kinds of Sam Adams? And cider is a newish thing, it kinda exploded after Angry Orchard came about , mikes hard has been around for 15+ years, everybody knows what it is. I agree there is hundreds of other American beer that would be better.. but they went with shit everyone knows.

American alcohol is measured by weight and not by volume like in every other country. So that weak 5 percent beer would read 6.25 percent alcohol if it was printed in Australia.
Very simple, if it's a beer bottled in America, and you're from other than America, take the alcohol percentage and divide by .80 to get the alcohol measurement by volume that would be printed on your cans.

The thing is they want to see a certain reaction because generaly australians have different opinion what beer SHOULD taste like etc. We all have different expactations because we are used to certain flavours. I'm from Finland and we don't have spicy foods, still I add hot sauce to everything... Because I'm already used to it!
And I think that's the thing why they didn't have f.ex. Samuel Adams. Because the taste is close to european beers so it's not too exotic or anything (most of them have propably tasted beer with similar taste). They could like the flavours but most of them won't because it's too different from the expectation (and the flavour they are used to).
Truth is that beer is always beer.. you can have the flavour u like anywhere in the world! f.ex. Walmart sells Stella Artois which is "standard" belgian beer :D or in Finland I can buy Budweiser or Samuel Adams from Citymarket (local Walmart) if I want. Ofc it might be hard to find THE beer from otherside of the world if it's not one of the regulars but you'll always find something similar!

+Neveri Amusing little side note, really not a lot of people in Belgium drink Stella, it's more our standard export beer. Here you'll find a lot more Jupiler, followed by Maes and maybe then stuff like Stella, Primus and the like, but the market is definitely dominated by Jupiler.
(Hell, I think Cara probably sells more than Stella here, and Cara is known for being pisswater, albeit cheaper than water)

The only American liquor I drink is this funky style moonshine with xxx on the bottle. Other countries just make better alcohol than we do.

Chris Garcia Absolutely, micro brews are the best. BJ's Restaurant and Brewery is the best in my area, I haven't even looked at another macro brewed beer since I discovered BJ's. You can even buy a 1 gallon glass jug of your favorite freshly brewed beer to take home.
I find that the U.S. makes some of the best IPA's and APA's in the world, you just need to get away from the cheap and plentiful stuff and do some digging in the micro breweries.

Ben Trismegistus I run a pub in Australia and I can tell you for a fact that us Aussies love your spirits, just no your beers. Jack Daniels is the number one seller hands down in the spirits department. Kind of my favorite too.

For me, Jim Beam is the way to go in the case of bourbons, that or Wild Turkey 101 or even Southern Comfort. I prefer to drink authentic bourbons made in Kentucky. Jack Daniels is a Tennessee copycat. Always has been. Kentucky is where bourbon originated, in case you didn't know. Moonshine got its roots from KY as well. But some would tell you different. TBH I like foreign beers over domestic. American beers usually have a watery taste and it takes a lot more to get you drunk. I'm not partial to beer anyway. Beer is for social drinking. Bourbon whiskey is for getting tore up from the floor up.

They've had some pretty good advertising campaigns here, which partly explains its popularity, but that said, it's still my personal favorite on taste alone.
I remember the time my aunt boiled moonshine thinking it was distilled water for her coffee lol. Idk how she couldn't tell moonshine has a strong smell but the face she made when she tasted her coffee was priceless.
Aussie here: American craft beer is excellent and has been since at least the mid-90s when almost all Aussie beer was sweet malty swill.

+Scott Breon The sad thing is I actually like PBR. It's the best of the brand-name "cheap beers" imo. You just have to be careful not getting caught drinking it unless you want to be judged. It's bad enough judging myself. lol
I still prefer almost any other type of drink over beer except wine though, and it's a shame they only limited themselves to some of the worst alcohol you can buy in America.

I drink New Moon or Shock Top every once in a while when it's hot and I need a more refreshing beer. I live in Colorado and love the selection of unique micro brews that are fun to try out, but sometimes a Blue Moon sounds nice. I love beer and I just drink whatever sounds good on the spot when the bartender asks.
