Basic items with variations and character is key. I will forever be changed by the lugsole trend, I found they shape my body so well and I've purchased all of my favorite shoes with platforms now. It makes them special because they're simple but elevated to my personal style
@ fav lugsole loafers and such: the Steve Madden ones (I still love them they’re classics to me now). Surprisingly Dr Scholls has some good ones, and I’ve replaced my regular converse with chuck 70s
torso length is key for denim. If you have a short torso do not I repeat do not try to make high rise work. You'll look like peter from family guy when he's all head and legs. Short torso ladies should stick to mid or low rise whether skinny, straight, wide whatever else. UNLESS you don't gaf and don't mind the peter griffin look. That's completely ur choice.
for short torso girlies, i'd recommend replacing the high waisted jean for a low/mid-raise jean. makes your body look more proportionate and in my case it makes me feel a lot hotter >:)
YES...but it's not listed on your wardrobe links. Would you be willing to share where it's from? I did a Google image search and also checked all possible shops i could think of😢
I am QUITE old, but this was my experience: growing up (aka in junior high and high school) I could never find jeans that I thought fit me. Everyone was crazy about Levi's but whenever I'd try on a pair, the gap in the back was just too much. I did have one pair that were a sailor style that actually looked good. Gloria Vanderbilt pinwale corduroy or velveteen jeans were also a huge thing at my high school, but those didn't fit me either. Fast forward, once I started thrifting a lot I realized that guys' jeans looked WAY better, and if your jeans gap in the back, just tug them down until they fit. Now there are so many different styles that you can find something, but back in the 80s choices were severely limited.
Great video! ❤ I’m not a trend-driven person but I have only ONE of the items you listed: an “elevating” t-shirt. It’s so entertaining to see how different we all feel about essentials. Mine are sleeveless dress, stretchy pencil skirt, well-made nylons, ankle boots, corduroy/jean jacket.
Traditionally if you had a long coat, your skirt or dress was NOT to supposed to peek out from underneath. This may be one of those rules that is silly and no longer applies, but having a coat that is longer than the hem of your skirt or dress will never NOT look good. Of course having a short sporty jacket with a sporty outfit is completely different--I'm imagining Princess Diana....
Great video, per usual, but also exactly what I have been needing! I’ve been wanting to invest in some new clothes and kind of update my wardrobe before I leave for college but I have been so stressed about making the right purchases. Thank you so much!
Yes, a trench coat has the style influence of the military coats (long) that soldiers wore in "trench" warfare in WW 1. Think double-breasted, two rows of buttons, a belt to tighten in cold weather, collar that can be folded up to keep the cold out, and more.
i’ve been a regular viewer of your channel for a few months now and i dress pretty basic. i want to be more fashionable but i’m a little bit bigger and i just am so scared to buy things that i might not like because of my body type. :(
I agree with you on the cotton turtle neck t-shirt look but a more fitted and thin cashmere turtleneck looks amazing! So I think you will change your mind on this :) I don't think it needs to be thick and oversized as long as it is cashmere or similar
This is a great list! The way I have 5 different polka dot *skirts* but not a single dress! I thrifted a vintage one a couple months back but it doesn’t fit😭 currently holding onto it out of spite but eventually gotta pass it along
Can someone recommend me some loafers that are suitable for narrow feet? Ive been wanting a pair of loafers for some years now but every time I order a pair I need to send it back because its too wide and my heel literally jumps out of the shoe when walking.
If you’ve tried different brands and nothing fits you probably need a shoe made in a narrow width rather than a shoe that runs slightly narrow. Human feet are getting longer and wider over time (especially in the US) so even if there was a brand you could wear a decade ago in a regular width you might find it to be too wide now because they have made the standard width wider (similar to vanity sizing in clothing making everything larger). I would go onto a shoe retailer’s website like Zappos and search the loafers they have in a narrow width. They won’t be very trendy as brands tend to only make them in more classic styles, but that way they won’t look dated quickly. They also tend to be made by higher quality brands that use actual leather which is nice because you’ll get more longterm wear out of them. I checked Zappos really quick and it looks like they have about 100 options in women’s and they start at about $50
@@SS-yq9ku yeah i tried inserts and those little leather patches that go behind your heel as well but it only makes my toes hurt additionally hahah but thank you!
@@Kimmie9553 thank you for your answer! unfortunately i don’t live in the US so zappos wont work for me, and i honestly haven’t seen any shoe retailer making a separate series of loafers for narrow feet in Europe 😭

For some reason this is like my fav video of yours that I've watched! Tysm, please talk about details forever
You have a *yutulu* stunning collection!! Truly inspirational-found your channel recently, lots of love
Laini, I could listen to you speak on the minutiae of clothing cuts and styles for an hour lmao. Loved this!

“Clomper stomper loafer” lolol
Where did you get your Cardigan?!? It's so pretty and chic
it’s from Fabrique, she linked it in her last video
I thrifted GH BASS weejuns at the goodwill bins and I can’t stop wearing
Laini i love your content ! Such great work. Thankyouuuuu
I just discovered Paige recently and I’m addicted to her vids!
If traditional loafers like the Weejuns destroy your feet but you still want simple, leather, extremely high quality I'd look at Maguire Shoes!!
i’ve been a regular viewer of your channel for a few months now and i dress pretty basic. i want to be more fashionable but i’m a little bit bigger and i just am so scared to buy things that i might not like because of my body type. :(
What about fashionable accessoires first :)? Maybe you can start experimenting with that.

Agreed I personally look so frumpy in an oversized turtleneck, it needs to be fitted but in a nice texture

Love this video!!! May I ask what lip colour this is??? so cute
6:33 😂 I think it's called a peacoat/overcoat
A peacoat is usually double-breasted and short, like a sailor would wear. I used to have a naval peacoat and the buttons were imprinted with anchors.
Yeah, overcoat is what she was looking for. Peacoats are double breasted and hit at the natural hip.
laini i definitely used a gigantic portion of my paycheck on that brown suede jacket from fabrique
The amount of people I have seen wearing puffer jackets at weddings and funerals😫
yes for 100% cotton denim jeans EXCEPT when I’m on my period 😂
I know what you mean with the t-shirt thing, but psa, regular t-shirts are always knitted :)
I love your glasses where are they from?
Nice video.Thanks
Where are your glasses from ? Ive been looking for something like that
dont wear jeans, coats, scarfs or turtle necks. hate loafers and polka dots but i enjoyed anyways
Yay I’m early!!!
