Don't forget Paypal also has a history of shutting down people's accounts and pocketing the money themselves if they don't like you for whatever reason.
Why any SMART person at this point would ever even want to use Paypal now I'll never know.
Basically foreshadowing on why money should never be completely digital and controlled by one central bank.

People in USA seems to forget that Paypal also used in other countries. The fee is way too high for most people. Now there are a lot of better alternatives for receiving or sending money with less fee than Paypal. Also, their rules sometimes falsely flag honest users for just trying to get their money. Recovering frozen account also very troublesome for non English speaker. Paypal is the last resort for receiveing money now, more and more users will strop using it.

Federal Reserve may soon lose control of interest rates, claims Heresy Financial. This comes as a result of the United States government's intention to embark on a $1 trillion borrowing spree. This might cause the banking sector to lose so much liquidity that rates spiral out of control and are no longer in the control by the federal reserve. I'm sorry to say that despite investing, I lack the mental capacity to evaluate each company's performance and decide whether or not now is a good moment to acquire stocks. My reserve of $650K is being wiped out by inflation and the recession. Sincerely, I have no idea what to do.

As a developer I stopped accepting payfail years ago. I did thousands of transactions, sold lots of "digital goods" and did several hundred freelance dev projects, and in that time I had 3 charge back problems. Over the total number of transactions I think 3 isn't too bad. I mean one sucks but that is a pretty low fraud rate. Anyway, every time, except the one fraudulent transaction, a new client tried to pay the first invoice for dev work the transaction got held and usually the client had to call payfail to get to go through. The one time the first transaction went through without a hassle it ended up being the only fraud I had in the dev end of things. At first I thought I was going to lose business because of not accepting paypal but I didn't and people used the alternatives I ended up offering without many complaints. QuickBooks allows to invoice/ receive payments from customers directly, but you can do it thru most banks as well, they will have the option to pay via card (which most people prefer anyway) or ACH. Payfail - will fail soon, the way they treat their customers is terrible. I was introduced to them when I was selling on eBay, and when eBay moved away from them it got much better. But I still paid my contractors via PayPal, but then I had a run in with them. I accidentally transferred some funds from my business account to my personal and it gad business transaction preselected. So I paid a fee. I wanted to refund it back, but the fee is NON REFUNDABLE. I called them explained both accounts are in my name. A smug voice told me basically "well to bad we now got your 100 something bucks. Well tho was the day I drained all PayPal accounts and completely stoped using them. I may consider it for stanger to me, but usually people on FB marketplace have all kinds of crap e-pay services because they cant afford $100 for a used working dryer. When I graduated college in 2018 I had an "garage sale" in my apartment to raise money so I could afford the $500 security deposit in a new apartment in a different city for a real job and so I literally sold everything, save for a few essential items (bed, cell phone charger, half of my clothes, and desk). After that experience, thats where I got boomer grumpy and forevermore sale items as cash only, you pickup. If im selling my xbox, I dont care how many firiends you have that are going to subdivide the payment. When you pickup, you hand me the entire cash payment. I will not create a new account for whatever e-pay service you use just because you dont have a normal checking account or have a debit card to get cash from an ATM or bank. I closed/canceled all those accounts except for paypal, a regional bank account, and my bank of america accounts. It greatly simplifed life: less passwords, no forgotten untransfered money, less worries about accounts getting leaked, I dont have to remember what services have free transfers or how long money is held, and no more annoying notifications about "now accepting crypto". Heck I even canceled credit cards just so I wouldnt have to remember to paythem. Then I paid off my student loans so I also wouldnt have to remember to pay them aswell. Becoming boomer grumpy about millenial/ gen z finances was the best thing to ever happen to me. Now in 3-5 years I should be a millionaire simply by learning the meaning of no and investing money the old fashioned way into businesses

PayPal is incredibly unattractive to businesses and also consumers outside the US (US consumers seem to have a stronger connection with PayPal than the rest of the world - probably because of a lack of modern banking). High transaction fees and a ridiculous chargeback system makes it undesirable to businesses who inevitably go with an alternative such as Stripe, or in the case of eBay, Adyen.
Also, just a criticism on the video - Apple Pay is by no means an alternative to PayPal. PayPal is a payment processor (with additional features added on top) while Apple Pay (and similar systems) is just a method of collecting payment details. If a site wishes to use Apple Pay, they still need to use a payment processor, such as PayPal, to actually process the payment; though anyone with a brain would use Stripe instead, due to the lower transaction fees.

Companies have their highs and lows. But some companies will recover.
Personally I think PayPal will recover. Let’s not forget they also own Venmo.
They prob should have bought out Pinterest to diversify their business.
Visa or AE are probably better and safer investment choices atm.

PayPal is too intrusive they wanted to know EVERYTHING about my business : staff names/ rental agreements, supplier agreements, % of sales for each product category , sales margins, shipping agreements.
In the end we changed to stripe.
    PayPal loss is stripes gain

Yes and even though they know everything about you, they still lock you out of your account pretending it's not you. SO INCOMPETENT !!!

PayPal is available in 180+ countries but sadly it's still not launched in Pakistan🇵🇰 which is the 4th Biggest Freelance Country in the World. They're missing a big chunk of Revenue. Payoneer & Wise are dominating this huge market.

Not a complete alternative but in Europe, I see Wise is getting some of Paypal business as well as some local alternatives such as Bizum in Spain.

Paypal needs to make major changes to it's trading rules. They are losing sellers due to unfair and unreasonable rules and practices. Change or fail, either is a good outcome for everyone.

In the beginning Dan did great and the company went from $40 to $300. But as Dan turned more and more woke, the price went from $300 to $60. S&P 500 would have given better returns than PYPL during Dan's tenure. Politicizing a company is never a good idea and PYPL investors have certainly paid the price for having a political CEO!!!

Their big blunder was the breakup with EBay. They had a payment monopoly there - now when you buy something you can use Applepay etc

It's because they started taxing you after $600 or something. eBay did the same thing. People went to other places to sell and collect their money.

I never really need to use it but recently decided I will never use it again as I don’t support anyone thinking they will control my money. I made a purchase that ebay blocked and when I called they made me verify the card I just verified already and told me try purchase again. It was denied again and was told some nonsense where they tried to say it was my bank. I’ll pass on them for life now.

I will also say this for paypal. if there ever is an issue they will do more for you than your big bank by a long shot. I have never had any long standing issues with Paypal other than the fees of course. also there are two methods to get your cash one is to send it to a bank account or for a fee you get it instantly . now either be smarter and allow these fees to be added into whatever you sell its really not that hard

Used paypal for the first few years of our business, only fraud and chargeback was through paypal, treated us like garbage and second rate citizens as a business. Stripe and even bank side implementations were more palatable in the end. Stripe has been excellent though, good 3d secure implementation and very nice UI. PayPal UI needs the elon musk touch like the tesla OS.
Number 1 error they made was treating their business customers like garbage.

PayPal is killing PayPal's growth. They've been so comfy with the decades of e-transfer monopoly that now they have literally nothing to fall back since crypto.
