basically WA took off globally but not in the US, so Meta don't know what to do with it. Originally the idea was to track FB users to include those routines within FB profiling to add a predictive spend tier to the ads, only that requires US FB users to universally adopt WA and twitter beat them to it. Unlike Insta, you can't pump WA full of ads without the focus of FB profiling and the lack of adoption in the US made the offline FB user tracking redundant, which is why WA remains in limbo.

Meta knows what to do with it. Grow it to the point where the whole world (beside China) uses it and then find ways to make money, like they are doing. They were the fasting growing company in history and focused a lot on FB and IG for the past years. WA their moat is insane outside of the US. We all use it every day. Even 90 year olds use it. They bought it because they knew it was gonna be big and they make already 10bn a year in using it as a click to message ads. I'm curious how big Mark will grow this app.

In Mexico even taco trucks serve customers on whatsap...... Taxi services could be contacted to ask to bring food to you (UBER eats kind) much cheaper than food services like Rappi or Uber, the taxi service would charge you for picking your food up at a place, pay for your food and bring it to your place, as if you were in the food stand and call a taxi to take you home.

It's just a trend that hasn't changed since the first human picked up the first stick to reach for some fruit on a high branch, or to hurl at a small animal he wanted to eat, and since humans invented language. Working your brain is becoming increasingly important, rendering low skills, low knowledge jobs such as taxi drivers less and less numerous, often eliminating entire professions, over a few short generations, but in turn increasing the number of high paying, highly difficult, intellectually challenging jobs, such as engineers and programmers.
