As mauga sometimes you feel like an unstoppable force and other times it just feels like you're playing the squishiest character.

I am currently hanging out in mid-masters. So far my experience is that no one seems to be fully capable of using Mauga well...yet. He gets burned down extremely easily in many matchups EXCEPT when someone plays him aggressively. We'll really start feeling the changes in about another week or so I suspect.
I don't mind a brand new hero being overtuned for a bit though. Adds some spice to the game and brings in players who may not otherwise be interested.
Hard locking this hero currently because he's new, but once I see an Ana or the enemy tank switch to any other tank, I've been enjoying the Ram buffs as well.

It honestly doesn't matter how overtuned Mauga is. Unless you tank via a blue rectangle or a vacuum, Ana will press 1 button and force you back into spawn.
You can 1v1 him outside role queue (when he has less health) without any issues.
and the support players will still claim she's balanced!
Play cover, you have to play him more like a DPS. You'll still be vulnerable to a push if you get purpled but it won't be nearly as impactful the majority of the time.

I agree anti is busted but we've really gotta stop acting like it's the end all be all of overwatch gameplay. If the Ana has it out for you then get a kiriko to be up your ass and you're fine

This is the model of any hero/champ type game. Make them OP first then nerf them down to the ground. They learned after Lifeweaver they don't want to be in that mess again. Especially when you are putting them in your BP.

The issue is that self-healing characters in overwatch are just the worst because if you don't consistently have your entire team focusing them they just will not die. Mauga now has (some) of the same issues Brig had on release. It's incredibly egregious in deathmatch

If he uses his self heal while shooting you, and you're bastion, your turret will essentially do zero damage. It's egregious
As a support I’m am scared for this season but I can’t say I don’t deserve it
I played against and with pracitally every support and can say Ana counters him heavy cuz he gets nuked if you anti him but playing zen or even mercy at times is really difficult

I had a game last night where two maugas just shot at eachother all game..i remember looking and they both had like 14000 damage while being like 4 and 1 in elims
That seems to be all Mauga is good for, farming dmg off the other tank
I feel like if you play against another Mauga, you're locked in a perma 1v1 for the whole game to stay alive.

I played kiriko last night with a few maugas. Kitsune rush + mauga just deletes the enemy team. Felt VERY good.

I played Kiri with a buddy of mine hard-locking Mauga, and we hard held the enemy spawn a few games with Fox Rush. It was awesome 😂

I found that the only viable strat is to counter shatter and charge the Mauga as soon as they get up.
Charge the Mauga into their back lines… I die, but this is the best strat to control the damage I’ve found :,)
I think they should add a heat-based mechanic like Orisa to his secondary fire because many players now using both guns all the time, adding some limitation to his secondary fire would force players to use it more wisely.
Something like that. His secondary fire whoops so much tail. You shouldn't be able to force a widow or honzo into hiding with just 1 second of secondary fire from a tank at basically long range. Maybe tune down the damage on the burn or adjust his range and damage fall off.

They should up the reload time by alot, like a 4-5 second reload time. But the thing is you can reload one of the guns at a time, so like you shoot the fire one, then you reload that one while you shoot with the other gun.
Makes you more mindful of just charging in firing both guns. Get caught out reloading both guns with that reload time, ya done for.
How is he supposed to tank if he has to go into cover for 5 seconds every time he reloads

Some things I learned about playing Mauga: His ultimate can function kinda like a Rein barrier if you place it further back and many enemies will be too scared to push into it to hit you, he melts tanks but struggles against anything with a small hitbox, ana presses RB and you die

Agreed, Bastion is as balanced as a "bastion-like" character can be. Long turret cool down, slow movement when in turret mode, manageable health pool, etc.

I’m going to need to get his sprays before they nerf him but keep the achievement value range to his pre nerfed numbers. Like Illari, good luck getting 8k healing with pylon in one round now.
My first game playing Illari when she dropped I got 10,200+ Pylon healing. However, it’s the first time I’ve ever ran into the bug where the game doesn’t unlock the spray. Everytime I’ve gotten over 8k pylon healing, I’ve not been granted the spray😭
@@klbplays damn that blows. That happened to me for her Sunburst achievement I got team kills twice in one game around the first week of her release and didn’t get the spray. But I randomly got the pop up saying I completed the challenge 2 weeks ago. Hopefully yours is retroactively given to you.
@@CrumbMuffins oh my gosh I hope so. I got her to progress lvl 25 in two days after she went live, and she eventually became one of my main picks
That's just harder now because people are getting more used to focusing the pylon mid fight (granted the health nerf, too). But on certain maps/game modes, 8k is still easy as long as you're actively moving the pylon in smart locations for your team and away from the current enemy's LOS.
Interesting his charge can't be stopped, but Reinhardt's can.

As a support main who picked up the game for the first time in season 6, last night was the least fun I ever had playing this game. Mauga just feels miserable to play against on every role. They’ve gotta do SOMETHING.
Play Ana. When he was released for a short time all I did was play Ana and gatekeep the shit out of him
@@l0kpcr397 I’m ass at hitscan and everyone else in my 4 stack plays her so she’s not really an option, I’m a Kiri main with a Mercy and Brig in the back, and I’m still limited in the other roles.
As Moira you have to drain him for exactly 25 seconds before he dies but that's IF HE ISN'T FRICKING HEALING in which case he's essentially immortal for all intents and purposes. His Ult is a complete death sentence for Moira, too, since it outright disables your movement ability (your only chance of surviving him because he can kill you in 1.5 seconds)

Played him last night for a good few games, was in 5 stack and we lost game one, and one of there players talked shit, we ended up playing against them 3 more times and steam rolled them, the last game the dude left and we ended up just messing around on Illios it was fun

All I want is a small echo buff where her duplicate doesn’t end while using a ultimate that way you can get full value out of it example sig or hog ult

@@reynauldwhistles2338 I’m not saying the whole ult. I’m just saying if you get ult and click q it should still revert u back to echo but it should also activate cage match. Even if it’s just for a mere 3 seconds. When you dupe hog or sigma ur shield or trap will still last after your echo hit ends for a few seconds. They should do that with cage match. Of they don’t no worries but it would be nice to be able to use the ult you earned. But I’ll just work on getting it faster and then I won’t have to worry.

What I love about playing mauga in escort matches is that he doesn’t kill anyone, he’s just so strong and tough that he bullies everyone off the payload

I play a lot of Ana, im so trained to shoot my dart when he charges like with Rein. But Mauga is invulnerable when charges, so I just end up throwing the fight because of it lol.
Im putting up huge damage with this champ, even in short matches you end up doing like 15k. Hitting enemies with crit as soon as theyre ignited then using both primary and secondary fire in close range is wild. Landing kills with his charge and stomp is also super fun. I feel like a nerf to either the ignite effect or the crit effect is the only way to go. I doubt they'll nerf both his primary and secondary fire. It honestly feels like his critical shots and secondary fire are super powerful at long to mid range, when using seperatly that is.
If they dont want to reduce his damage too much maybe only give him a 1.5X headshot multiplier
This game is fun, but has a fundamental flaw... problem with heroes who have a self-healing mechanic (J.Queen, Hog, Mauga, 76) is that no matter how broken af or weak shit they may be, Ana stands there with her nade like a raid boss just not caring about aaaanything they do.
No, I'm not saying Ana needs a nerf, but more like nade needs a rework. It just doesn't care even if you have the best or worst healing. That aint right. And no amount of Tank buffs or Support nerfs can get around this problem. So we need to rework this ability
I like how tanky he is but he does wayyy to much damage, if they reduced him primary and secondary fire like just a small amount he'd be more balanced.

im hoping this makes tank a little less miserable for tank players. ik alot of support players r not exactly happy with how much healing magua needs constantly but its nice to see people like flats genuinely enjoy playing tank again

@@reynauldwhistles2338 he definitely needs some tweaking, but so did brig, rom, kirko and jq. blizzard has a long history of releasing broken characters on launch and then fixing their issues. I just hope that he doesn't get nerfed into the ground so that tank players can have a little joy again. also u can run magua down in seconds if he doesn't stay in los of his supports and u anti him
Played like 5 games yesterday and everyone was playing Mauga and I had no way of beating him they just had a pocket and constantly had ult. How do you even counter this?????
Play Ana 😂 Orisa now needs to be smart with her cooldowns, Zarya also might be good because her bubble cleanses fire

@@l0kpcr397sigma can deny him pretty well too. Proper cooldown management allows for the sigma to mitigate all of his shots and therefore his sustain.
Bonus points if there is an ana on the team
@@thecyanpanda241 yeah I was thinking that Sigma would be good if he can ensure the Mauga will focus him. If the Mauga diverts to someone else negating his grasp completely he’s gunna have a bad time especially since now they nerfed his shield regen time

Hey, I'm colorblind and can't distinguish between the color of a enemy mauga in fire (from my gun), and it's healing skill... Are they different or it's only me? It's so difficult to know if I should continue the 1v1 without knowing the difference.... Thanks a lot!

Maybe it’s just because I’m low rank, but Sojourn seems from the games I’ve played like a good DPS to play into Mauga. He’s so immobile while firing that it’s fairly easy to chunk down with headshots and a quick railgun charge. But again that could just be because I’m low rank. Idk, what do y’all think?

I would actually love it if there was an interaction where if 2 Mauga's ult eachother he says "I'm not trapped in here with you, You're trapped in here with me!" Maybe even the voice line being in Samoan could be cool
Despite my horrendous lag where people get displaced because i play console i still think ult should make you heal and makes you fire a tiny bit faster ig however make his ult cost like 26% more

I've been hating this character since drop. My games either grind to a halt when someone switches to him on the defending team, or we just steam role the enemy team when our side picks him. His health is too high. His kit makes it so that he can basically 1v1 any other tank in the game, and his ult last way too long for comfort.

My secret to winning Mauga mirrors has been circle reticle and show accuracy. Putting the head at the top of the spread is so much better when everything crits anyways

Hey flats, i just found out that Torbjorn inadvertently counters Mauga. First game i played i thought it was just a coincidence. But when the second game also had a mauga, I still rekt with Torb. Please give it a try to confirm.

Again, Mauga is just heavy from Tf2, he mows down unsuspecting opponents while dominating causal players. A competitive Heavy from Tf2 is just pain and idk about comp for Mauga because I’m pretty sure he’s still not available for comp but once he is I’m sure he’s gonna be broken on some maps with large amounts of cover
I have been literally destroying people with this character. Play him like poke and get some good burn. If you run in, make sure you're slamming near a corner or door so that you can get behind it

I gotta say, fighting against the other tanks is completely fine but the Mauga mirror is complete ass. You're just firing at each other for what feels like minutes while both are getting healed up, but you can't switch target cause then the other Mauga will just melt you cause you don't self-heal as much anymore. Just feels boring tbh.
Also another thing you gotta look out for Flats is that if you put your hot down on an angle/ridge, they can go down and under the shield wall and get away from it.

Whats frustrating is you shouldnt be expected to perform as Mauga as well as you perform with the rest of the Tank list. This is solely based on time played/hero experience. Peoples initial response to Mauga was "oh feels a little spongey' when theyve only had hours to learn the character.
Mauga wasnt underwhelming because he was weak , he underperformed because the player base wasnt familiar with his kit and where he fit in the counter culture/meta yet. 2nd impressions comes with more comfortability using the character. (Theyre going to inevitably revert some of his buffs, which will only cause turbulence in the meta momentarily at which point he'll settle to Low A High B tier. Honestly if they build him more of a weakness to spongies it may balance him out.
I played mauga and I must admit he is very broken, I played two quick games with me and my buddies and I dropped over 20k damage games in 10 mins or less, his damage needs to be nerfed for sure and his self heal.

mauga might be op but there is always ana that means it gets waaaay harder to play him without kiriko or an ana yourself
try playing rein while mauga exists, its just impossible. mauga out heals your damage while melting you which is just outright ridiculous.

i will say the new tank did to much damage imo when we got a little teaser test. he shit on hog 1v1. now he just does stupid damage. queing for no limits without having mauga unlocked is almost suicide. its 3 maugas and zen/mercy combo you literally melt anyone.

Mauga is fun and overtuned as hell, but Life Weaver and Ana are still his hardest counters and the support role in general is still the best role. But this season is awesome still because the tanks at least have a bit more of a foghting chance so im enjoying basically everything this season. RIP Doomfist though (AGAIN!!!) 😂 his "buff" is an actual nerf in my opinion.
