    OMG. I have been driving a 2.5L 2008 Volvo T5 for 3 years. I suddenly feel such relief that the engine bit the dust (incl. a replacement that I foolishly had installed for 3600 Euros) I am checking out an excellent offer this weekend for a 125 ps 1.0 SCTi. I strongly believe in the saying that God never shuts a door without opening another. Thanks so much for this Real World Test. I am convinced in the mpgs for sure, and don't need to research any further.

    I would agree with this economy maximum. I achieved 60mpg on a 250 mile trip in the UK with a 1.0 140bhp, mixed roads and hills. The little engine has the advantage of lower weight and friction, but most importantly is low revs (1500-1750rpm), slow acceleration, and limiting braking.

    Exactly! You are very right about underreving the engine. There is no such thing of concern on Ecoboosts (and other engines as well) even if you floor it when at 1200rpm only. I torture my 1.0 125hp Ecoboost just like that as a routine and up to this day, the engine has no technical problems whatsoever and I also do oil analysis tests once at 2 oil changes just to see the health of the engine on paper. Otherwise, you could've changed each gear exactly when told by the computer (again, even if it might seem to early, it won't underrev) which is usually at some 1700-1800rpm and you'll get even better mileage (lower consumption), but most of the time you changed gears up from 2000rpm or higher. Try the same test again and change from 1800rpm only. You'll see a half a liter difference at least.

      Sometimes I just needed the power to accelerate, as I said, I am surely no obstacle to other road users and so occasionally power is needed.

    Really great video, good job. Today I took a similar drive to test mpg, distance was about 75km, but I have the 1.0L 125hp Focus St line wagon, I did park up a couple times to pop into shops, but really drove as conscious as I could in Eco mode the whole time. It was a mix of uphill, down and flat 100km limit with a bit of town driving. I achieved 4.9l/100 i think if I did it again I could get 4.5/100. What I will say is that it wasn't really an enjoyable drive, being so frugal and trying to anticipate everything. My car over the last 4000km currently runs at 6.6l/100 sometimes I have a passenger or two and don't always have it in eco mode. Generally I really like the car and in sport mode it has nice pick up and sound. Keep up the good work.

      Hey. How you are satisfied overall with the engine in the wagon? How does it cope if you load the car full with people and luggage for, say, some road trip?
      And, is your Ecoboost the mild hybrid one? Automatic? Thanks!

    Really thanks Sir. I really wonder that Focus's highway Consumption while driving on 120-130kmh. If it's really like 5.5-6.5liters, then I don't wanna buy Diesel anymore. But still I'm happy with my Corsa 1.5d(102hp), I've never seen more than 6liters on my car :).

    I am a driving instructor in the UK. I have a Ford Puma hybrid 1 litre eco boost. Before that I had a ford Focus 1 litre eco boost. Obviosly teaching people to drive in these cars is not real world driving, there is a lot of stopping and reversing and constantly having to tell my pupils to move up to the next gear as they forget to do it, a lot of over reving goes on lol. I have watched your video on the 1 litre Focus as well, noticing that the focus got 58.8 overall consumption and the Puma 60.1. My experience is different having driven the Focus for 2 years and 2 months and 42,000 miles it returned dead on 46 mpg. I have been driving the Puma for 18 months and so far have got a best fuel consumption after 51,000 miles of 45.9 mpg, but this has gradually dropped over the last 5 months to a current mileage of 45.3 mpg. I am dissapointed in this as I understood that hybrid cars would be better on fuel consumption. I researched this and found that the eletric motor becomes less efficient with mileage. My car is due for replacement soon and I think I'm going to go back to a normally aspirated engine and avoid hybrids from now on. Thanks for the informative video it was very usefull to me.

      @@TheZanshen By the time I swapped cars my Puma 1 litre eco boost had done 74,000 miles and the fuel consuption had dropped to 44.5 mpg. When accelerating hard in 3rd gear there was a vibration from the engine around 3000 to 4000 rpm which would last for about 500 rpm then smooth out again. Apart from that the engine was good.

    One of the last ford focus to have proper analogue clocks, instead of tft and proper climate and radio controls instead of big screen and stupid menus.
    2026 the Focus is being discontinued as everyone now seems to want the taller hatch/crossover some call them SUV, shame.
    Is this engine the one that blows up or had it been resolved in that year ?

    Im in the range of 5.6-6l/100 most of the time - Ford Fiesta 1.0 108hp and got remapped in 2016 and has 156hp. Only get the lower at highway and very little city driving. I don't like going under 1400rpm personally, as predetonation occurrence is higher if you lug the engine to much. Spritmonitor is spot on imo when you drive normally - the rating system manufactures use, are far from a real world scenario, and you will never be able to hit them as they are made in a lab setting.. I like the engines - but my timingbelt was toothless on 15% belt when i changes it and you need to do oil changes often, så you keep the belt free of dilution of gasoline. Also need to get it up to temp more often, especially when doing a lot of city and short trips. Oil is fairly cheap - engines are not..

    Imam 1.0 cmax 74 kW i ovako se taj auto ne vozi. Radi se samo šteta. Ići s njim u brdo 50 u 5.brzini? To se ne radi. Niti ga se vozi ispod 1700-1800 okretaja. Probao sam i ovakvu vožnju i razlika u potrošnji je minimalna između ovakvog ubijanja motora i vožnje kakva bi trebala biti. U pitanju je par dcl. Dugoročno vožnja ispod 1750 okretaja taj kao i svaki motor trga. Da ne spominjem vibracije i kako se pati kad mu se pri tim niskim okretajima dodaje gas.

    • @spejpo
      @spejpo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Slažem se. Ja kada vozim baš eco i ako je ravno održavam brzinu na min. 1600-1700 okretaja. Kod iole manje uzbrdice mora ići brzina niže jer je inače kidanje motora. Druga stvar je kada je auto službeni pa te briga kakav će biti nakon 5+ godina.
      Probao sam voziti slično kao gospodin iz videa i potrošnja i potrošnja bi bila slična jer kada su okretaji prenisko motoru treba više snage/energije/goriva da auto npr. ubrza. Zapravo tako nekako i uče u školi sigurne i štedljive vožnje da ne treba dizati okretaje bespotrebno, ali da ih ne treba niti spuštati prenisko.
      Uglavnom sviđaju mi se ova videa jer gospodin sve točno kaže osim što se ja osobno ne slažem sa ovim dijelom o okretajima 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @ecodriver1746

      Zdravo! Pre svega, hvala na gledanju i komentarima. Što se tiče malih brzina. Sve dok motor ne trzne, neće ga škoditi. Moderni motori su dizajnirani za brzine od oko 1200 o/min. Vozio sam isti motor sa automatskim menjačem i automatik takođe dozvoljava tako niske obrtaje. Proizvođači automobila programiraju automatske menjače tako da se motor ne ošteti i ono što automatik dozvoljava je za mene merilo šta motor može da podnese.
      I ja ovako vozim svoje privatne automobile i posle nekad više od 100.000 km motori su i dalje u vrhunskom stanju, nekad je motorno ulje još toliko dobro da ne mora ni da se menja.
      U vreme karburatora bilo je tačno da male brzine motora oštećuju motor, ali to više nije slučaj. Ovo je priča o staroj mehanici od ranije.
      Važno je samo da se ne vrti tako malo da se motor trese i zvecka jer je to loše za vešanje, ventile i sve zglobove.

      Samo za takvo nešto treba skilla, tj. lagani lagani rad sa papučicom gasa. Mlađi vozači uglavnom gas do poda i tjeraj brate 😊😊...zato niski okretaji znaju biti dugoročno pogubni ako se to često radi (barem većina tako kaže).
      Nisam stručnjak, ali sam dosta toga gledao/čitao (o modernijim motorima) i inžinjeri kažu otprilike da kada su niski okretaji, a da se previše gasa (max load low rpm), puno goriva dođe u cilindre i ne stigne kvalitetno sagoriti (ili tako nešto) i onda u samim cilindrima može ostati kao čađe koja kroz određeni vremenski period ošteti taj cilindar. Ali kao što i vi sami kažete čuo sam od dosta ljudi da su čak i puno starije aute vozili tako da su okretaje držali nisko (benzince i dizele) i da nisu imali nikakvih problema niti nakon 10-15 god što se tiče uništavanja cilindara i sl.
      A što se tiče vašeg kanala.. pravo osvježenje. Danas sam ga počeo gledati i odgledao već 6-7 videa...svaka čast i samo naprijed 👍

    • @ecodriver1746
      @ecodriver1746  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hvala na lepim rečima.
      Što se tiče previše goriva: U modernim automobilima, pedala za gas se ne koristi za regulaciju količine ubrizgavanja (kao što je to nekada bilo), već se motoru kaže koliku snagu želite, a kompjuter onda izračunava tačnu količinu ubrizganog goriva i potrebna količina kiseonika („e-gas“). Scenario koji opisujete, da se ubrizgava previše goriva, tu se ne može desiti. Još uvek postoje neka vozila na tržištu koja ovo nemaju, npr. B. Hiundai i10 koji sam testirao, gde sam - čim je bila potrebna snaga - napravio preko 1800 obrtaja.

    Nice consumption! Im very suprised. What is your opinion about the engine? Do you fell lack of one cylinder during driving? What about overtaking and acceleration? Is the engine is strong enough?

    • @ecodriver1746
      @ecodriver1746  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The problem I'd have with this engine is not the 3 cylinders, it's more the small size. I have driven the Volvo XC40 3-cylinder with 1,5 ltrs. and this was great to drive, this engine requires a lot of shifting work if you want to drive really economically. Overtaking needs some foresight and is generally a bit of a pain compared to stronger engines. But - as I said in the video - if you want a race-car don't get a Ford Focus 1.0.... ;)
