I also underwent a transplant back in December 2014. In 2008, I was diagnosed at 17 so I'm also in my mid 20s. It's been a year since the Dr. removed all the stitches which left me with a high percentage of astigmatism. I go in to see my Dr. this week to touch base on a Lasik procedure possibility in that eye. Its been on medical trials as of lately post transplant. But before any final consideration I'm exhausting all my personal sources to determine if that is the safest medical route post transplant to reduce most of the astigmatism to avoid the use of any correctional devices in that eye. Doesn't matter if you share human level experiences with your surgeon, Lets not forget that the Medical industry is also a business racket and surgeons of any specialty are business people that have to market and sale their procedures to pay off their vacations and BMWs. its always a smart idea to do your research on your own account when personal health comes in play. Anyway , Kelly, listen, at this point is the point of no return. Everyday should be focused in becoming a stronger version of yourself by enhancing the things we are mastered to do let it be a craft or just stepping on a stepping stone. Embrace these trials and hardships. Take the road less travelled and you will make your way back to society as a conquering individual. It's all up to you. On a further note, dump your useless boyfriend. A couple moons ago I had a girlfriend who lived in LA (I'm in San Diego) she had no car too. Being the go getter that I am lol I drove up there once or twice a month, got a nice cheap hotel, and spend the sunset walking along on the beach picking eachother's minds. I was 21 years old but who cares. If a man wants to see you he wont give a shit and park around the corner of your house calling you to tell you that he's outside. Chica, from my screen you are beautiful and if I crossed you in the street I would get your number no doubt. Don't waste your 20s in a long distance that wont reciprocate. Just a slice of perspective from a self made guy with some experience.. Stay Strong, that's all we know.

You are very pretty, my life is also affected, in my case by a lasik surgery, and I know that maybe it is something irrelevant to say, but sometimes a compliment can improve your day a little, and you are definitely very pretty and you look like a very good person

I can only drive at night after hours when there’s no cars on the road. My ex was not supportive so I broke up with him almost a year ago. It’s not our fault.

    Hi Kelly,
I watched this video at the start of the week but haven't been able to bring myself to write until now. At first I was very frustrated for you in regards to the transplant healing tightly. You think you're on the road to progress, but objectively, it is a tiny correction. At least your body loved the new cornea. Perhaps imagine that it loved it a bit too much, and we've just to to loosen that hug? (I'm trying to stay positive)
The emotional part of the video hit home. I've been struggling too, with this self imposed belief that I need to be someone/doing something important etc by 25 too. I'm still dealing with it. I feel like I'm in the same boat. I find it so hard to feel like an adult, still living at home, with no car, having to go back to school for another degree because by the time I finished my first there was no jobs. But I try to focus on how close the future is now. I'm a quarter through my degree, I'm in the process of saving some money to buy a car, etc.
If I remember correctly, ignoring check ups and eye drops, by 3 months after the cross linking you'll be good to go at anything life.
Sucks about the long distance thing. I can't remember how bad it was before my boyfriend got his car. I find texting helps a lot. But we're only about an hour away so it's nothing compared to your situation.

      Hello Emma,
its nice hearing from you again :)
I would agree that the relaxation incision is a very minor correction. I like your view point that my body took the new cornea very well, a little too well. I hadn't thought of it in that way. Honestly, i think is just knowing that i'm going to be tied up for a few weeks with these procedures is what got to me the most.
Its nice to hear that i'm not alone in the way I feel. I think the best way of thinking about it is, as you said, is in terms of how close i am to future goals. The seems to move a bit slower after undergrad to me. I just have to think that this year, as uneventful as it may have seemed, is paving the way for me to have a better future.
Im happy to know that the healing time for cross linking is relatively short.
my long distance relationship actually sounds very similar to yours. we're an hour and a half to two hours away (depending on the driver and traffic) and he has yet to own a car. its always reassuring when i hear of other couples who have made long distance work for them though :)

You certainly are allowed to, but I hope that you don't. I hope that this video didn't upset you. As I said, I'm here to talk to anyone who feels they need someone they are able to relate to.

To be honest I don't know much about the linkage between bell's palsy and KC. as far as the restrictions go, the major ones such as bending over or getting water in your eye last only a couple of weeks. The only lasting restriction that I can recall is the weight restrictions which, if i remember correctly, was 25 pounds for a month or two and then 50 pounds after that until the stitches are removed. I hope this is able to give you a better idea of the restrictions associated with the surgery recovery. please let me know if I can be of any more help :)
