      Transplants usually last more than 10 years. I have seen patients with 15- 20 years of graft. It is very hard to tell how long it will be there. Best bet it take care of it as best you can to prevent infections or any trauma to the eye. Always ask your surgeon about these. Thats the best source of your information.

    This is crazy going through everything your going through right now lol. My hair was so oily I was scared to even try to wash it. Also I know it’s been 5 yes but did you taste your drops I feel like it’s dribbling in my mouth. You said you could not see the largest letter before your surgery, what was the reason you needed the transplant? I stabbed myself in the eye when I was little (7 accident) and 11 yrs ago I was hit in my eye and had to have emergency surgery where they pumped my globe back up and they did not out a lender back in so I can barely see I can see light and patterns. The reason for my surgery was my eye is always dilated and I have brown eyes but my right eye is blue and foggy so I have one blue eye and one brown. 2 days after my transplant I ended up in the hospital they thought it was an early infection which it was just my eye was bruised really bad my whole white was red, tomorrow will be 3 wks and it’s still red and tender to touch did you have any red or tenderness 3 wks after your surgery?

    I have to go to an eye specialist because I might have keratoconis I’ve had glasses since I was 8 and my eyes have just been getting worse and my optometrist mentioned that I have to get tested because I keep losing my vision, it sounds like it really sucks so I hope it’s not the case, I hope things get better for everyone who has keratoconis. Much love.

    I'm only seeing these videos now, because I'm having my cross-linking procedure done this Thursday (wish me luck, I'm bracing for the pain for 1-2 days after!), but I wanted to thank you for posting these videos. They're a huge help!

      Can you give a update once you are done with the procedure. Thanks again

    • @alexjones8545
      @alexjones8545 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@truegrizzlesfan2292 Sure! I had my right eye done two weeks ago, I’m having my left eye done tomorrow. I thought I was going to have epi-off (where they take the outer layer of skin on the cornea off, if you don’t know the term), but I actually had a form of epi-on. This meant the post-op wasn’t painful or uncomfortable at all-literally 0/10. YMMV, but I’m hoping for the same experience on the left eye. If you’re curious, I got my procedure done at Ophthalmic Consultants of Connecticut with Eric Donnenfeld. He’s one of the leading keratoconus specialists in the country/world it seems, so I trust epi-on was the right choice.

    • @truegrizzlesfan2292
      @truegrizzlesfan2292 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexjones8545 thanks for the info. Lastly, what are the recovery time. Before the surgery: what was your vision . after the surgery: what vision do you expecting to have, once everything heal. Thanks again bro.

    • @alexjones8545
      @alexjones8545 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@truegrizzlesfan2292 If you have epi-on, the recovery time for the cornea could possibly be as short as 1-2 weeks-NO guarantees, as I’m not an expert. Like most people, I’m expecting my vision to be the same after the procedure, since the aim of CXL is to simply halt the progression of the disease. I have a scleral lens appt booked for May 3 though :)

    Hi. I just had a cornea transplant for the left eye. You missed important fact that after 15 years your cornea endothelial cells will die and you have to go a DESAK transplant. You start with around 2700 endothelial cell and when you reach 400 your vision becomes fuzzy and turns white.

    My eyes were really bad but I could still see a little. I was on the nhs waiting list during 2019 but they never called me in. I rang up for confirmation and was told to wait. Then from February of 2020 my eyes were worse and legit cannot see anything. Double vision, transparent text, blur, floaters etc. Went to a pro opticians and he told me I have keratoconus and my left eye is damaged more and little scarred. Now I have an appointment booked for 22 February 2021 and then I’d be told whether or not a surgery is needed. I’m actually nervous because hearing you tell us about your experience made me get anxious, but now seeing how you went through it at my age (23 now) I’m feeling positive with my check up regarding which surgery is required

    I had a partial cornea transplant 4 years ago and by day 2 I was not allowed to be sitting up unless I was in the bathroom. I had be completely flat on my back for the first three days after surgery, I wasm't allowed to be alone for the first 2 weeks after surgery in case I got dizzy and fell. My nieces were so excited because they got to "jana sit" lol. I too was on toberdex as well.
