SOOOO much clarity right now! Thank you so much for this video! How exciting! What an absolutely beautiful time! I cannot wait to read this with family!
My husband and I have been really studying our Bibles and trying to learn about God's Holy Days and also Hanukkah. There is no documentation supporting the oil story. But I think if we look at what the feast of dedication was, purging the evil from the temple we can celebrate and apply that today. I'm still confused on why modern NT churches have no problems with egg hunts on Ostara, (Jesus died during Passover), Halloween parties and xmas trees in the sanctuary but only a rare few will acknowledge and celebrate Biblical feasts & festivals. I keep asking why is this but the only answer I get is they were for the Jewish and no one else. So how do we rationalize in the NT church celebrating pagan festivals and rituals? Our focus is on Jesus! 🤦♀️
The holy days were given to ALL Israel. All twelve tribes and those who attached themselves to them…the foreigners among them, not just the tribe of Judah. They are the Lord’s feasts, not the Jewish feasts like so many call them in error. Furthermore, as believers, we’re grafted into the olive tree, not the other way around. They point to what Messiah has done and has yet to do. They 100% are for all of God’s people. Praying your example and testimony are a blessing and light to others. ❤
@@lydiablustin , I 100% agree and thank you for your kind response. We were recently sharing our conviction with my husband's mother and found a book to help show why these Holy days are relevant today. Holidays including birthdays & mother's day for her are very very important to her and are a cause of anxiety for me. Honestly been hard throughout the years feeling obligated to buy everyone gifts even if we were going thru a rough time. I've suggested drawing names, etc...but the rest of the family was against that. This year they are getting baked goods in the mail and maybe I will give the others the Holy days book as well. Regardless prayers appreciated that they are received in the spirit that I'm sending them! Peace and blessings to you! ❤️🕊️🙏
@@Anna-cj8xp Lol, well we only gave to MIL because just sending the cookies cost an arm & leg! I cant remember name of it off the top but if explained who these Holy Days are prophetic. The spring appointed days have been fulfilled and fall days are practice. The book was highly rated, only thing I didn't like is the modern traditions in celebrating the Holy Days vs what the Bible says.
I take comfort and confidence in taking the Lord's supper, I feel close to God because he is in my heart. And I think Christmas is appropriate; it's a season when Christ is mentioned a lot, and know of people's hearts who have been touched during this time. Worldly influences are everywhere. I appreciate your zeal for God.
Reminds me of Palm Sunday. Hosanna! They were expecting someone to save them. Well, yeah, that's what he was doing. Thanks for the lesson Heidi. I don't know if I'm going to buy a menorah yet, but I'll be checking out those links. Keep it coming. This stuff is fascinating!
I recently bought a small one that holds 7 not 8 candles. It is like what they used to used in Bible times. You can light it for Sabbath and on God's Holy days. You could even light it when you sit down With your family for a meal!
I love hanukkah, im a gentile believer but remembering that God does miracles and that we can take back holy days and dedicate it back to God is literally what we have done by divorcing christmas and easter if you think about it! A whole other reason for a feast of dedication if you ask me!
Exactly! They purged the temple of paganism and rededicated it to the Lord! Parting from these Roman celebrations where people are seeking the "best" of both worlds when we know we are in the world but not of the world.
Hanukkah and Purim were added to the original 7 holy days but are not equal in importance. They were added to commemorate miracles that God did, to “preserve Judaism”. Purim celebrates the way God used Esther to save her people. Hanukkah celebrates the miracle of the oil lasting, so the Jews could preserve worship in the temple. Both holidays are celebrated with a lot of “glitz” in various amounts. Christmas celebrates the miracle of the Messiah’s birth and the fulfillment of many, many prophecies written about the coming of the Messiah. You can celebrate that with “glitz” or not. Personally I think all three are optional, as you said, but I think Christmas and celebration of the Messiah’s birth should not be ignored. After all, the angels who appeared to the shepherds on that night were SINGING in celebration of it! Just some thoughts…. I love how you say it is optional and a choice and invite those who wish, to celebrate Hanukkah. I love the story of it.💕💕
@@EmmaPerezableThat is your prerogative but I personally know too many to count who are true Believers who do in fact, celebrate Hanukkah and not Christmas. Hanukkah is not a salvation issue.
@@EmmaPerezableRight on! And it might be semantics but if you’ll note I also don’t use the title “Christians” either. I typically steer away from the title if I can.

Hi Heidi, could you please clarify with me why Hanukkah was only mention one time if it was an important celebration according to the Bible and if it was an important thing that we needed to celebrate why wasn't mentioned many more times like repentance and the baptism? Why did the people that were present for the celebration did not accept Jesus as their messiah? Because they weren't his sheep? They instead wanted to kill him. I don't think Jesus cares for us to celebrate Hanukkah because all those people celebrating Hanukkah on that day, were against Him and no one had love for him, so why it's okay for people to celebrate this holiday, if the people that celebrate it dont believe in Jesus and they are still waiting for their Messiah? I'm just very confused, and I need to understand. I know another place where Jesus went there many, many times on the Sabbath, where He went into the temple to teach the scriptures and why people don't make Sabbath a big deal and truly keep it Holy, It is in the 10 commandments. The scriptures also mentions a lot of baptisms and the supper, but there was also a lot of sabbaths that Jesus went into the temple to teach the scriptures and people actually, listened, followed him and loved him and many believed. www.kveller.com/actually-you-cant-celebrate-hanukkah-and-christmas/
Hanukkah means dedication. The story of the oil is no where to be found in scripture or in the apocrypha. The Maccabees went, took down the statue, Zesus if I remember correctly, and wiped out the pagan influence in the temple and rededicated it into the Lord. Hanukkah is not one of God's Holy days same with Purim. I see Hanukkah as a self reflection of purging the sin from ourselves and rededicating ourselves unto the Lord. No presents and only donuts and potato pancakes if you enjoy making them! Lol Also a 7 day manorah vs 8 because it's a reflection of what was used in Bible times and can be used on Sabbath as well as God's Holy days.

After seeing your video about celebrating Christmas, this one on Hanukkah was a bit confusing because the Maccabean revolt was OUTSIDE of Scripture - even though its history is true. I'm not attempting to disrespect you as I'm willing to look at all kinds of opposing beliefs through a microscopic but Biblical lens. I hope you'll answer if you are indeed Hebrew Roots. Thank you.
