My last male beagle was named Hurley, but most often he was called Plankhead or Planky. His brain cell was named Alvin, as in the trouble making chipmunk. One day he and his beagle sister were being impossible on the leash. Out of frustration I told them to stop time sharing a brain cell. That got a good laugh from a fellow across the street.
"Stella" fits him cuz he's a ⭐ star! We had a Love Bird for 17 years and I can totally relate. So much fun! He passed years ago but he is still missed and always will be. Great vid. Good luck with both your little buddies.👍

Stella was checking himself out in the mirror. It's really cute, until it backfires on you! Most birds don't recognize themselves in the mirror, so they think it's another bird. The problem is that spending too much time with a mirror can cause a lot of behavior issues. Birds can easily become obsessed with their reflection. Mirrors can trigger hormonal behaviors like aggression, which is really difficult to stop once it starts.
@@Rebecca_English seconding this!! It can sometimes indirectly lead to death too! I had a bird that used to be an absolute sweetheart, he got a mirror addiction which caused irreversible aggressiveness issues. Please don't let your birds near mirrors like I did!! :(
Im also agreeing with the other two comments but added a couple things Mirrors can cause depression in birds and frustration because they get sad and frustrated that they cant mate with the bird in the mirror
I'm glad you didn't change his name! The same thing happened to me with my cat... I rescued her and the rescue had labeled her as male on the website. This went on for years, my thinking she was male, but then one day I took him to the vet and he told me she was a she. That was a funny day. I kept her boy name because she liked it and responded to it.

What a great story! I had a cockatoo for 15 years but couldn't keep her. I thought she was a male all those years until the person taking him (a bird expert) told me she was female. Birds are a blast and are sweet and adorable, affectionate if you're patient and calm. You and your fiancé are obviously great pet owners. Birds are high maintenance and a lifetime pet.
@@WalkerRileyMC Yes you can. It's just subtle. Females have light brown eyes, kind of a cinnamon color. Males have a much darker shade of brown. As with ringnecks, this only becomes apparent after bird puberty. If you spend enough time around them you can easily tell their sex by the shade of their eyes.
The same happened to my cockatoo, when i got him he was very young and i didn't know his gender so i named him Jasmine (female bird name).....later after some tests i figured he was a boy.......but i kept the name cause he loved it, responded and lived telling it 😍

Amazing. This is such good education. Just watched the one with the bearded dragons, and it's so educational about what they like, what type of personalities they have. Stella is a very cheeky boy. They are both gorgeous birds and such good company. I think him attacking the mouthwash was funny. Lots of it was funny. Great video and well done Morgan and partner for caring for these little souls.
My daughter first introduced me to Stella through tictok and I absolutely love him! ❤️He inspired me to buy my own Stella but they are super expensive. 😔Hopefully some day I’ll get to enjoy one of my own. The both of you are so funny together. Please keep sharing new videos of you and Stella.

But it really doesn't matter, he's exteemly trusting. Mine were tame and had quite a vocabulary but would not allow me to pet his head in the way Stella does. We had a green cheek a few years back and she favored me out of the four of us but we went away and the woman watching her called us telling us she had passed. She was in perfect health. We miss her EVERY day

But I had a feeling... that she was a he so I had his DNA tested, sure enough the test came back that he's a boy. He still calls himself a good girl like 20 years later lmao.
@@Veladus LMAO! I rescued a pair of lovebirds from a hoarding situation too and told they were both females. And then they laid eggs and we had a shit ton of babies every few months. They were bonded so I couldn't separate them, but it wasn't really hard to find good homes for the babies either.
Indian ringnecks are my favorite 🦜 parrot. They have the sweetest voices. Entire flocks of them live in feral communities in Europe from escaped birds. In London some in parks will eat fruit from your hand.

Good on you for rescuing him, an I'm glad to hear the person you saved him from got shut down. My neighbor had a similar racket, he ran a "parrot rescue" and would accept any parrot surrendered to him "free of charge". But he was really a parrot mill and just turn round an resold them or used them for breeding purposes, crammed into chicken coops and a modded barn. An then any that died his wife would pluck to sell their feathers online. It was just... *pure* *evil* all round. Thankfully he got shut down, I can't fathom how that couple could sleep at night.

The boys when mature have the dark ring on the neck the female has a very light ring ...I love the sound of their voice it's so sweet
Yellow colour mutations in birds usually dont have any black on them, hence the neck ring being white and red instead of black and red

Hmmm girl cats are easier to tell if it's a female or not. With birds it's difficult and sometimes the only thing you can do is to get a DNA test

Unless they did a blood test first, the person taking it didn't know either. You can't tell gender with 'toos by looking at them.

I knew a guy that got a bird and was told by whoever sold it to him that it was a male. Couple years later, "he" laid an egg.
@@Veladus LMAO! I rescued a pair of lovebirds from a hoarding situation too and told they were both females. And then they laid eggs and we had a shit ton of babies every few months. They were bonded so I couldn't separate them, but it wasn't really hard to find good homes for the babies either.

Indian ringnecks are my favorite 🦜 parrot. They have the sweetest voices. Entire flocks of them live in feral communities in Europe from escaped birds. In London some in parks will eat fruit from your hand.

Good on you for rescuing him, an I'm glad to hear the person you saved him from got shut down. My neighbor had a similar racket, he ran a "parrot rescue" and would accept any parrot surrendered to him "free of charge". But he was really a parrot mill and just turn round an resold them or used them for breeding purposes, crammed into chicken coops and a modded barn. An then any that died his wife would pluck to sell their feathers online. It was just... *pure* *evil* all round. Thankfully he got shut down, I can't fathom how that couple could sleep at night.
