In far less than 100 years we went from flying 20 or 30 MPH to flying well past Mach 1 which is the speed of sound. Close to 750 MPH. If you want something perfected, turn it into a lethal weapon. Man will devote every dollar and every hour to making it even more deadly. I think its pretty obvious where we are headed.
We are nearing the crescendo of this , all this will culminate into either a dystopian hell on earth with AI dominating and enslaving us or wipe us out entirely. And Jesus is coming soon :D
@orrett - I think one needs to distinguish between the Permanent/Deep states of both Russia & the US (and the PRC too) vs. their people. The peoples of the world of course, do not want war. The Russian people certainly do not. But the Permanent/Deep states of both Russia and the US want what is in their "interests". Its clear Putin does want war with Ukraine, and their land. Probably Transnistria & Moldova too. Maybe the Baltics. He already has Belarus, and hegemony of Kazakhstan. But the US Permanent State too has a history of waging wars to further its "interests". --We were notorious for using force to further our economic interests in Latin America pre-WW2. And pretexts were arranged (Gulf of Tonkin, Iraqi WMD) for wars against N. Vietnam and Iraq. No elected or appointed officials were ever held accountable --- via the equivalent of a Nuremburg Tribunal for those "mistakes" -- keep in mind, 2 MM southeast Asians died from that conflict. And America just "forgets" to hold anyone accountable. ... American "mistakes" are often more bloody than Russian maliciousness.

@@gpnulife The first mistake in war is under estimating your enemy. Now I don't believe the people of Russia are our enemy, but just like the USA, Russia probably has weapons not on the hooks and not known.
In 1971 I was a B-52 pilot assigned to alert duty. Our targets (2 bombs) were near Moscow. I don’t think we would have made it to our target due to their defenses, but since our arrival would have been much later than the impact of our nuke missiles, maybe we would.
50 years latee and that scream of the b52 still intimidates the world! Can't imagine what it must have been like during those really intense years when Ivan was looking very scary
The overall number of both Trident subs and their nuclear-warhead missiles initially deployed has been cut back in the last 15 or so years as the boats' missions have been modified to some beyond nuclear launch, replaced by conventional cruise missiles. Or some missile tubes have been designated as subject to modification in order to serve as 'launch' pads for SEAL-type infiltration mission teams. The fewer subs to track, the more assets adversaries like Russia/China will have to look for and perhaps find the remainder, by default. The fewer missiles available to launch, the fewer that Russian/Chinese anti-missile defenses will have to contend with. Plus, the Tridents were never intended or built as first-strike weapons against hardened land-based ICBM sites---just like their Minuteman counterparts. So in the aggregate, the original deterrent value has been reduced to an extent that it is increasingly marginal. Likely still the strongest, most capable part of the overall U.S. deterrent, but a reduction in force has not helped.
They would have a better shot at shooting down one of our B2's than an ICBM. And shooting down a B2 is damn hard. Basically it would take an extremely lucky shot.
If I was an enemy of the United States I wouldn’t make the mistake you just made… There’s more than enough in our arsenal to kill the entire planet 20 times over no matter where the detonations actually occur, the food supply of the entire planet would be contaminated within 96 hours and won’t return to an edible state for at least 60 to 150 years… no human would survive more than a few months… I’d say we still have more than plenty if we should need them… And if ours aren’t enough the other 15,000 that would be launched in retaliation would finish the job… I’d say you are very incorrect that it’s not every bit the deterrent is very much as strong as it’s ever been… And I wouldn’t be so sure there are fewer out there, the newer physics packages are tiny, many more than you think could be lurking in few delivery packages, and let’s not kid ourselves as to the number of devices in orbit shall we… And they don’t have to destroy hardened targets my man, they just have to get within a couple hundred miles of the grain feilds, that’s how they kill!
He was wrong because everyone will be dead. RAD will contaminate the water and soil, crops will not grow and die and anyone that is left after the first strike will either kill themselves or die of starvation or radiation.

One-hundred-ninety-eight warheads from a single Trident submarine can take out 24 cities? I heard that the fireball alone on a 500 kiloton weapon would be as big as Manhattan. That leads me to believe that a single Trident can take out more than 24 cities.
They target cities with multiple warheads, to account for possible "duds" or targeting errors. And I think you may be confusing the effects of a multi-megaton warhead. You don't get into TRUE city killing warheads until you are in the 2-3 megaton range. Which are about as big as we (the US) have. We definitely have the know how to create multi hundred megaton warheads, but the effects of one that large are unknown, largest ever detonated was the "Tsar Bomba" at approx 50 megaton.
Yes, I guess it's true that a single Trident can destroy only 24 cities. My thinking was wrong. But 24 cities would be over half the population of virtually all the countries in the world. Pretty gruesome stuff. I think we can reduce nuclear arsenals world wide.

But the Permanent/Deep states of both Russia and the US want what is in their "interests". Its clear Putin does want war with Ukraine, and their land. Probably Transnistria & Moldova too. Maybe the Baltics. He already has Belarus, and hegemony of Kazakhstan.

They target cities with multiple warheads, to account for possible "duds" or targeting errors. And I think you may be confusing the effects of a multi-megaton warhead. You don't get into TRUE city killing warheads until you are in the 2-3 megaton range. Which are about as big as we (the US) have. @@hirdleyreid5796 what ?? By treaty USA and Russia has around 5000 nuclear warheads, China 400, France and UK around 200 each. US Defense budget 1.1 trillion $, Russia 48 billion $, China 209 billion $

either our government is bluffing, or is as dumb as people in hell
@@ulrichkristensen4087 US Defense budget is NOT 1.1 trillion $ and you should not calculate Russia's and China's budgets in US dollars they are not buying their subs in US...
Couldn’t you imagine an ancient times if there were ancient aliens that have submarines and the native people see the submarine when they didn’t have metal they would think that was some kind of sea monster is crazy huh
Thankful.for Trident subs They kept.our enemies from nuke war And still do.!
we have had missile subs capable of destroying country's since the late 50s, i served on one built in the 60s. this is not new. better subs these days but the ability to destroy is old
England does not have these weapons. The United Kingdom does.
England has in fact
True
The UK subs uses the same Trident 2 ICBM as the US.
@@Crashed131963 so they can not fire without GPS lol they are duds
If you listen to me commentary it states England has these weapons. There is no English navy, army or airforce. They are part of the United Kingdom with the submarine base located in Scotland.
@@ianurquhart9379 The good news is if you have subs with Trident 2s your country is off the "Country To Invade List".
Taiwan and Ukraine need a few Boomers out there lurking around in the depths.

Like nothing else, these U-boats give peace of mind to me. I hope we can stay ahead of Communist and Arab technology in submarine stealth and missile tech. God bless you U.S. Navy submariners. 💛🙏🏽
The US should know. It is the only country which has used nuclear weapons on civilians. Not to mention industrial scale chemical weapons on civilians. Not to mention development of Biological weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine. What a great country!
Where did it use chemical weapons ?

I feel more safe with the U.S. as or most important ally. Thank you!🇳🇱🇳🇱
Why don’t they use it if they destroy there’s nothing to worry about.
Even if you surprise the US with a first strike, those subs are there to make sure you pay the price.
the Russian And Chinese navies far outnumber what the US have in nuclear armed Subs ..
Nothing amazing comparing to Russian submarines.

What difference does it make? We are cowardly going about a situation that we'll eventually have to confront in the near future. It's strategic to go now, while we are the most powerful. To wait, has grave consequences.
