dorothy the way she fell off that dragon in the beginning the animation of her model where she just become a statue when she does fall off made me laugh a little.
The demo was very fluid and already in a much better place than Alicization Lycoris when it launched lol. Dorothy's also likable, which wasn't the case with Medina at first. I thought she was the most insufferable gameverse character. They can still improve this game a lot with future updates like they usually do. I know they've said nothing about DLCs but I do expect at least two of them anyway. Especially if it's truly the last gameverse game. Updates and DLCs combined, maybe we could get like 2 years of extra content?
4:13 Sum up my thought, I'd like my auto-chain to be able to Skill Connect, like Alicization Lycoris. I miss the time when I was able to auto-combo with Moment Bite to go through the enemy, and then skill connect with Final Revolution to bring Kirito back near the enemy, and finished it with Star Burst Stream. Best dual blade combo imo, and it's easy and addicted to get used to. Now I can't do that, and Moment Bite was tweaked to not go through the enemy.
It's a good impression. You mentioned a good amount of stuff that I wanted confirmed. I can assume that some mechanics are already removed since you didn't mention it but it's better to confirm. The one I can think of right now are statue quest and the cube loot box system.
Statue Quests are there actually. They are more "trials" this time around. Some allow you to spend Skill Points to gain commands, some actually put you through a combat trial etc. They more serve their designed purpose now, compared to being identical to Service Quests in Lycoris. As I said, I did not want to talk about a lot of different things in this video specifically, so I glossed over a lot of the details, so if you have questions, feel free to ask.
Understood. I did remember another thing. Since Lycoris was cpu power heavy on my end and doesn't want to use my gpu even when I set it as the gpu to use. How is your cpu and gpu faring with Last Recollection?
Honestly this demo gives me hopes for the game although there is a few things I noticed from the demo. For whatever reason it was a huge pain to down an enemy after getting a break. It would launch the enemy but then it would just go into normal combo and the enemy would randomly get downed sometime in the auto combo. Not sure if I missed something. And the AI in lycoris seemed to be more robust. I developed an AI that would launch, down, and go into a combo in lycoris. Not sure if that is even possible anymore.
Yeah, that was a gripe I had with the combat too. Felt a little too inconsistent. In Lycoris, we'd just do the air lunge combo to down an enemy. In Last Recollection, it seems like its based on damage (?) after you break an enemy I guess? I still am not very sure, because there are no "down moves" the same way Lycoris had.
@Gamerturk from my gameplay in the demo, it does seem like there are some "launch" moves still, but it does seem like enemies getting downed after a launch is left to some damage threshold or something. I'm looking forward to playing the full game tonight when I get a chance
I wouldn't say so. Autoplay just lowers the skill floor and allows more people to play, but it does not at all take away from high skill players. It's just the middle ground that is now stuck in the middle.
Man I was writing a big comment with my thoughts but yt mobile crashed 💀 Basically I think lr's sword skills feel worse because Al's slower movement kinda contrasted with the sword skills making them feel really good, I think hit effects feel mostly the same it's just combats generally faster. Also blocking sucks and my favorite skill in al, flashing penetratior, got ruined in lr and it feels awful now. Also I agree pretty much completely about the simplification, but the inability to change other parts members roles Is terrible. I found tanks to be mostly detrimental because at this stage in the game you can't get much defense, so your tank just instantly eats dirt and you're down a member for most of the fight. I think Eugeo, Asuna, Leafa, and Lisbeth were all tanks, and because I can't change their classes, they're basically useless until I can get better gear. In all the other aquria sao games if you wanted to you could change everything about a characters equipment except weapon type which allowed SO MUCH freedom with party composition, I have no clue why they change this. I really hope its only in the demo you can't change them, or it's unlockable later. If not, I gotta pray premiere isn't a tank. But overall, I'm VERY exited for this game, and I did like the demo a lot. I reached the max level of 10, did all the quests, and I even managed to defeat 2 of the divine beasts, without any tanks obviously. I'm 10,000% sure the cube shop is gone and that's huge. And I'm very interested in learning about Dorothy. I rewatched the first 12 episodes of alicization last night and plan to finish it while waiting for last recollection to release tonight. Game is about 9 hours away for me and I can't wait!
Imo the mechanics were never really an issue for the casual player in aquria SAO games (but maybe that’s just my hardcore SAO fan talking) imo the problem has always been that even in tutorials aquria has always been absolutely terrible at explaining the deeper mechanics and systems of their games aside from maybe HF (but you had to go out of your way to find that stuff with Argo). If they did a better job of explaining I feel like more people could understand those deeper systems enough. But again this could just be my hardcore side talking and I just don’t understand what the causal and midcore player experience is like.
Trust me, we simply are very involved with these games to know what we are doing. The amount of people who don't even game regularly and see an SAO game there, just buying in because they want to see more SAO. Many of the simplifications are for them to have a better time.
Yeah, nah. Its definitely you being a hardcore SAO fan that ignores the problem. Explaining things better will only take you so far. If systems are too complex, players will get frustrated trying to remember everything. Not to mention people like to switch games. And it's much harder to come back into complex games due to all the things you can forget. These changes have definitely been made with the goal of making the game more approachable to people. Which us honestly a great thing
Hahah, trust me, I am above average at most. I never take the gameplay side of these games seriously. I settle in my comfortable spot and then milk that playstyle until the game is over. I don't experiment, I don't grind, I don't practice.
As much as I was excited to see SAO does actually have games (binge watched the anime last week) the game leaves MUCH to desire compared to the anime. Graphics look "too smooth" aka really missing the graphical look, combat is your average stand still and use abilities etc, and the story doesn't follow in par with the anime enough. (as an example Eugeo, Kirito, Asuna and Alice all fighting together in these clips). Sure these games satisfy many for sure, but in addition asking 60€(or 70€) for a game that looks like a mobile game is never a yes for me. Dissapointed in SAO games overall
Regarding the story, I think you missed the bit where the SAO Gameverse is basically its own continuity, starting with Hollow Fragment followed by Lost Song, Hollow Realization, Fatal Bullet, Alicization Lycoris and now Last Recollection. It's an entire series on its own. As for their quality, they are very high quality Visual Novel games. You won't find this quality in other VN titles.
@@Slippypippy270just a guess but I think it because tales of arise and xenoblade 3(Nintendo switch game that should say something) looks way more visually appealing compared to this game. You can even make a argument about the mobile gene graphic being better than this that my take for this
@@wrathfulzen799 To me this game just looks as good as Xenoblade. Sure it’s a PS5 game but other then Naruto and DBZ anime games don’t all look next gen. So why get on SAO’s back when every other anime game looks similar?

I just hope the story will be more than just go there and kill these plants like in lycoris.

Pretty much. I think the triple Auto-Chain would become a perfect addition, if we maintained the ability to manual chain out of it whenever we wanted.

This game needs to be on Switch like Lycoris. I’ll be waiting
Let's goooo

A lot more to come in the upcoming days too!
I think the combat is great, maybe on par with HR’s. But I am understanding towards those who don’t like it.
