This isn't just any fire truck; it's a 1945 American LaFrance, built at a time when resources were scarce, and innovation was a necessity. Crafted almost entirely from iron due to the wartime shortage of brass, this truck may be small in stature but is monumental in weight and historical significance, tipping the scales close to modern trucks three times its size.
The truck boasts a robust 12-cylinder engine, a powerhouse that also propelled the airplanes of that era, making it a rare artifact that marries the history of firefighting with the golden age of aviation.
Nearly fully restored and in running condition, this fire truck is a symbol of Negaunee's resilience and dedication to heritage. The town once sold this piece of history to a neighboring fire department, only to rediscover it years later, abandoned in a field. Seizing the opportunity, Negaunee reclaimed and lovingly restored the truck to its former glory.
Alex, with the help of his dad Brian, provides an engaging narrative that takes us through the streets of Negaunee's past and gives us a glimpse into the evolution of firefighting technology.

I hope Alex isn't the last kid to get you places... in fact, I hope he is not the last kid that shows up on this channel. I say this because, in one of my college class, we are talking about Climate Change and how kids are the ones that need to take action as it is their future... but the truth is that the fire and emergency services are in the same and if not worse boat.
