Welcome back to Station Rigs on Heroes Next Door! In this week's episode, we're diving deep into the operations of Piermont Fire Department, affectionately known as The River Rats, located in NY. Renowned for their prowess in dive rescues on the challenging Hudson River, this department is a beacon of expertise in the field.

Led by 2nd Assistant Chief Dan Goswick, a seasoned 40-year veteran, we'll explore every nook and cranny, unveiling the intricate setup tailored for swift and effective rescues.
But that's not all - witness firsthand the rigorous process of suiting up for a dive rescue, and discover the array of gear essential for success in these critical missions. THANK YOU FOR HANGGIN AT THIS HOUSE FOR A FEW EXTRA DAYS . A LOT TO TAKE IN ! INTEGRITY, HISTORY ! ONE OF MY FAVORITES SO FAR ! THANK YOU BROTHER MIKE !🇺🇸
We absolutely loved it. Thank you!
I agree 💯💯💯%
Outstanding department Mike!! As always, fantastic job!! When the 2nd Chief was explaining how they set-up on scene I was thinking “man I wish they would should us” and then BAM they did!! One of the best videos on this channel!! Keep up the great work!!
Wait til next week. You won’t be disappointed!
@@HeroesNextDoor Now I’m anxious Mike! I always look forward to Saturdays to watch the new HND video.
Great video. Makes you proud to see other first responders taking this much pride. Paid or volunteer we're all here for the same purpose, to protect the community.
Much appreciated!
@@HeroesNextDoor you're welcome. Brought back alot of memories training on the Illinois river with the rescue boat we had.
Passion and Dedication of a Volunteer.. 👌👌👌
The station price and ownership is apparent in the video with the appearance of the fire house. Strong work.
Thank you so much for showing the doning of the DRY Suit 😊. For me personally "WOOL Socks" a must. I have found or should say "FELT" my toes going NUMB First. Before my hands start. The Chief (Retired) did not mention ( NITROX)
Mix in the scuba tanks. For me, on Recreational Diving that pony bottle with a hight MIX of Nitrox for the Decompress safty stop really helps me when I get to surface 😊. But my guess is Nitrox mixing equipment is an add cost to this Department that they don't have. I can say from personal experience 😊 that the mix of pure Oxygen in the pony tank is a big plus on safty stops. The Retired Chief talk about water current in the Hudson. The "0"
Visibility is also another that has stress on diver. My breathing rate was a lot higher for me on the Night Dives.
This guy is a real gem! Piermont is lucky to have as be him !
Back in the 90s I was with Thiels FD and we MA with Piedmont FD. I was Chief Diver back then and I knew Dan SR.
I cannot believe how far they have come over the years! VeryVery impressed!
Thanks for watching. If you have not subscribed yet please consider doing so
Mike, Great video & walk around! Dive rescue is a really different part of a fire department! These guys operate just like a commercial dive team. Teathered & able to work in sewers. Wow. Most divers that I have seen work are only open water. But it sounds like they are very busy, on The Hudson!🌉. I bet that they work with the NY State Police, alot! Thanks for traveling to NYS👍
Thanks for watching. More to come next week too
Awesome to see a thriving VFD with a purpose built rig.
Awesome in-depth video … keep ‘em coming
You bet we are doing our best
Always great video
Thank you for watching
I guess he was just practicing with the truck that fell over the Tapenzee Bridge. Thats quite the drop, for those who don’t know….. but more station rigs.. best content
Thank you!
Always a high quality video. Well done!

Battery Hurst tools will work under water too.
On the TV show Emergency! Johnny and Roy used the Jaws of Life Underwater to save a Victim...
Next do republics fire dept in republic Michigan
We need invites to make that happen
Now when I took fast class and in our county of Greene County new York the fast team has to be self independent they supply there own pumper and tools what if they get called for fast and need handlines. That makes no sense to me rolling a rescue truck for fast
Most fast teams in NY don't have to have handlines because the main reason were there is to do Rescue Operations when answer if a firefighter goes down I have never heard of a fast team needing to bring water bc the fast team normally parks down the road and leaves truck there because there isn't any room for then to get close or just wanna leave the room for incoming depts that are going to work
