I’ve been using a Oklahoma Joe’s Bronco for around three months and it does me well. So far I heartily recommend it. I find your pod casts very informative! Thanks for the knowledge!
Hi Malcom, really enjoyed this podcast focusing on the drums. Was great to hear from Mike. Just subscribed to his channel. In the podcast you were talking about how long a drum can last. Well, my drum I made around 2002 or 2003 and it's still going strong. It is so heavily seasoned you can smell that BBQ pit flavor from feet away when you open the lid. One thing I do is make sure it stays dry by sealing it up as good as I can when not in use and also giving it a coat of the rustoleum high temp BBQ paint every year. I'm in the rainy Pacific Northwest and if my results are any indication, they can last a couple decades or longer if well maintained!
Hey guys! As always your podcast is so awesome. I bought an Oki Joe’s Bronco Drum about mid July. It’s much smaller than the 55 gal. However, it has one intake and 1 exhaust as your guests. It runs great and I have done many of your recipes on it, and they come out awesome. The other day I made hung smoked whiting in the drum and maintained the temp at 120 to dry them for an hour, then held at 180 for 3 hours. It was my first time smoking them and they came out just as if I bought them at the market. Love the Bronco, but working on something larger.
After starting the charcoal basket Is there a difference setting the fire box in with the fire by the air intake....or opposite the air intake and letting it burn towards the intake
Great podcast. I’m definitely interested in getting a UPS now when I’m in the market for a drum. Would want to be able to put some bars in for hanging on one of these. Price looks unbeatable for a prebuilt drum, would be a no brainer if my custom RF offset wasn’t in the works. Would be an honor to have the first one in Cali.
Just made somre ribs yesterday on my PBC abd used your rub for the first time. Outstanding rub and I wish I would have bought it earlier as well as your gloves!!! I am defintely going to try starting my charcol from a small corner from now on. I have been using my chimney (which usually works fine) and today I couldnt keep my temps down to save my life.
Hey Kevin, I’m not sure if you’re using Android or Iphone, but since Apple’s last two updates, the app hasn’t worked right if at all. This is usually something either apple must fix or it is the app developers place to fix bugs based on the new platform. I hope this helps.
Listened to this with an 8lb butt in gateway. I've learned mine with a little trial and error - listening to a couple of pros talk about their methods let me know I'm on the right track. 👍🏻
Malcolm, thanks for all you do man. I started grilling and smoking a few years back, and your videos have been like mini courses. Appreciate it.
Malcom I made 2 drums going by your video and won grand champion in my first contest here in Texas. Pretty awesome. Still use them now.

Malcolm, what's up with your app? My wife and I love using it, but it's not been working lately.

A single 2-inch pipe is 2x larger than 2 1-inch pipes combined. This is because the area of a circle is Pi R *squared*
