5:32 Somebody deserves big sister of the year for caring enough to quickly guard her little sis from falling.
Yeah, I noticed that too, what a good big sister.
You lifting yourself up and gliding on ceiling rail gave me a good idea.
You did an amazing job this! The trolly and unistrut detail is perfect!
Thanks!😁
That bolt is the anti-theft devise. I used a Unistrut to support our(my wife's) boxing bag in our garage. I first screwed a 2x4 to the ceiling, then the strut. I slide it to one side when not in use. I am also thinking about using same system for a target system for my indoor firing range in our new house once it's built. One problem I see, is that when you are picking up a heavy load, it might want to "PUSH" your garage door closed. It looks like your garage is long enough to open the door all the way and just pick it straight up from what ever it was in, just move it closer to table.
thank you so much. this is the perfect solution for my shop
Awesome!😁
Thumbs up for making me smile lol
Great video, I would use a lag bolt for the stopper. I feel like that screw could shear pretty easily.
Looks great! I might need something like this in the future lol. Maybe one of those retractable cord holders might work?
i want one now!
hahaha man I laughed so hard at your intro! made me think of buster on arrested development, also great video and info!
😂😂Thanks!
Izzy Swan built his a few weeks ago as well. They are very cool , I think I’m going to build one too.
Sweet!
I can't stop laughing!!! So cool! Peter pan!
He said weee! 😋
Love the project, looking at one of these winches over a chain fall for my gantry crane to save on headroom and no cHains in the way.
That's a good idea! I built a gantry a number of years back with a chain hoist and this winch is more out of the way. Although it doesn't hold as much weight so keep that in mind.
@Aspiring Craftsman I figured I could use both methods. Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to. CHecking out more on your channel.
Glad i hung around with you lol. Nice
😂😂😂
the ones I Bought for my company have 4 wires inside I Cut the cable in half and added 4 pin xlr male and female connectors so I could add any length cable I want to extend the cable for our High warehouse ceilings Got mine at Harbor freight
I bet you got the idea and/or plans for that table saw folding out feed table from woodsmith issue 47, 1986 😊
This would be great for moving paraplegic people around the house. Most hoist sold for this purpose are very very very unaforable. This would be a game changer for so many families. I wish there was not so much burocracy and safety concerns and patents preventing this from that use.
Oh dear.
Ever heard of a 2wheeled trolley? Sometimes called a Diablo in Europe.
You can make one using 2 old car wheels and some cheap steel scaffold tubing.
You can easily move around 24foot 1000lb beams by yourself and turn them around on the spot and they work outside as well :-)
Hey Steve, can you send me a link to see this? I cant find it by searching
Wonder how is it holding up after a year? Are the wood screws still holding the track? Should you have used a hoist instead of a winch? (there is a difference!)
Have been wanting to install something along this line to lift groceries and lower suitcases down stairs in our condo.
It still works perfectly fine. The wood screws weren't a problem
I see your kids watch Blippi too. Lol
He had to do it. LOL
is there any curved tracks
How much space is between the top of the rollers and the inside top of the channel? Was thinking of using an octagon washer (which are made to fit in the channel) and a hex head bolt but want to be sure there’s enough space for the rollers not to hit the bolt heads. Thanks, Garry.
Not much. I'm not sure the measurement. The best way to do it is with the hangars
I know you keep saying it’s best to use the brackets, have you had issues with the screw heads making contact? Those brackets are so expensive. Have the wood screws held up with hoisting heavy loads? Thanks!
💖
I didn't think the trolly could fit in the unistrut track with the screws in the track. I thought it was a zero clearance system. Do you have a tall track? > 1 5/8". Or are the trolley wheels shorter than standard? Thanks. Great job by the way.
Running into that exact issue right now...
A lot of info out there says the top of the trolley will hit the screws that were used to attach the track to the ceiling if you install the track that way.. Obviously this wasnt a problem for you. Any idea why? looks like you used screws as oppsed to lag bolts (therefore the head is smaller). Is the clearance that tight?
The clearance is incredibly tight. I tried several types of screws off camera. It's best to use the track hangars
What Wood screw dimensions did you use? What brand did you use?
I'm going to implement your unistrut installation in my room after bridging across the ceiling with some 2x8s.
Thanks for the awesome tutorial!
Awesome! You can use GRK screws if you buy the brackets. I wouldn't suggest screwing through the unistrut the way I did
The ones I used were called Big Timber construction lag screws 3"
@@WyldeWoodworks
Was it these? 15 x 3" Inch Big Timber CTX153-100 T-30 Construction Lag Screw Knurled Shank Type-17 Bronze (100 Per Box)???
Thanks for the warning, but I will go with the Timber screws because I need the clearance for the trolley and the strut would hang too low for my purposes with the hanging brackets.

You're the best! Looking forward to more videos!
The first thing that came to mind was the SNL skit with John Lovitz where he purposefully answers trivia questions wrong so he can get wedgies.
Send the cord through the ceiling
Use bungee cord for the cord management
That's interesting
Wonder what might happen if the power went out while you were playing Superman, strapped on to the hook of this lift? We Know, just another old fart Killjoy right? At my age, yeah why not. 😞😉😙
Great video though. Nice job on this install. Two thumbs up!
😂😂😂 If I make it to the workbench I can stand up
I still think that you're missing a cape.
Lol
Maybe
Fender washers and wood screws? I’m glad you haven’t been hurt yet. Yet, is the key word.
what are the recommended size fasteners?
A single 1/4 20 can hold about a mini van in tension.
@@davidharris293 its not just static tension, shock loads are a whole notha level
In Terminator Salvation the boss terminator was decapitated with a piece of unistrut.
If you get stuck there it will stop the blood flood and cause a blood clot
Bad idea
I tried doing this same setup. My trollies seem to have a lot of freeplay, so when I have heavier loads (100+ pounds) it's difficult to move along the strut track. Any ideas of how I can fix this? Maybe something is wrong with my amazon trollies? th-cam.com/users/shortssY2PouHC8k8?feature=share
