The dark world Neo chassis is based on a design that the Deltarune version of Mettaghost came up with for himself but never had a way of making it real, so it ended up in the computer-themed dark world's basement. Somehow, the Deltarune version of Mettaghost involuntarily made the decision to buff a weakness he had in an entirely different timeline. Btw, this isn't blind speculation, if you talk to Swatch the butler in the shop after fighting Spamton Neo, you get this information pretty explicitly

I don't remember where did I hear this from but I heard there was two reasons toby didn't give mettaton a hard boss fight 1. Toby didn't want to overwhelm the player with two hard boss fights next to each other (mettaton and then sans) 2.toby wanted the player to feel invincible befor the Sans's fight. After all, before Sans the only one who does put up a good fight with you os undyne and Sans tenchially has 1 Attack and 1 defence. No one knew he could be so strong.After beating Mettaton You'll start to think that you are gonna finish Sans easily and then finish the genocide route,and that's when you'll GGGGEEEEETTTT DDDUUUNKED OOOOOON!!
If mettaton neo is a hard boss fight then prepare yourself to him then get the items to fight sans plus he has 9 def which means that he can fail easily to you
Also, it would've given the player that same high they probably got after beating Undyne the Undying, finally they got a great bossfight they beat. It would've busied them from really connecting with Flowey and Flowey's story, or at least really listen to it any.

Guys the reason he messed up the run is simple, by this point, you must be LV 15 to properly keep your run, Fas had LV 13 That means he didn't get all the monsters before facing Sans.
+SourceRabbit Depending of wich monsters you kill, you will have lower or higer levels. In this case, he messed up the genocide route because he did not get all his hits in blue/red.

You will always be LV 8 or higher when you fight Undyne the Undying, and LV 11 or higher after killing Undyne the Undying, and then killing the required number of monsters in Hotland will always get you to LV 14 or higher. Oddly, nobody in Undertale commented on my blatant racism against certain kinds of monsters.

That's because you landed a full strike, a very weak strike screws up your entire Genocide, starting with that dialouge, hence "you were holding back."
@@agent7103 Actually, it all depends if you killed everyone in hotland. As soon everyone is dead in hotland (aside from Mettaton), it's impossible to fail the route and hence, you'd get the dialogue. Should you not kill everyone, then the shown dialogue is what pops up, followed by a failed genocide route. Damage doesn't affect it.

I was dissapointed by this battle. I was expecting a boss fight of the caliber of undyne. But it's sad to know that mettaton ex is way more interesting than this. I understand that the genocide/no mercy run is supposed to sour a lot of the experience to the point of feeling bad about your motives. But I wanted to have a real hard battle against mettaton. One that he could deliver the most insane tricks and demostrated that he wanted to stop you no matter what.

Everyone is talking about how there should have been a fight for Mettaton NEO, but honestly, what I love about this video specifically is the alternate dialogue if you hesitate. Normally, they say a one-liner if you kill them right away. But I love how if you hesitate, they say “you’re not evil, because you held back against me.” I don’t know about you guys, but I found that a lot more… not powerful, but more interesting than when Sans tried to “spare” the player.
I’m pretty sure the reason he said that is because they didn’t kill everyone in hotland so it aborts the genocide route if you kill him before that and this is the way the game shows you aborted it

i really wish that toby would’ve made a boss fight with mettaton NEO and i know that many people say that it’s good that he didn’t because well, who wants a super tough boss fight right before sans? but, i personally believe that it would’ve been a good way to punish the player for choosing the genocide route and to also make the player think that it couldn’t possibly get harder than that then get their ass kicked by sans. but idk... that’s just my opinion.
Mettaton knows that he will be a one hit kill. So he doesnt let you attack. You must keep dodging until you can strike. The 1-hit ko will still be there, but you also have a good boss fight
I feel like I should mention, if you get this dialogue for Neo, then you’re not on a geno route anymore. He says this if you haven’t completely cleared out Hotland yet. His actual geno dialogue is along the lines of “guess you don’t want to join my fan club?”
Would have loved more if he could dodge somewhat like Sans and the only way to actually hit him is to be very accurate, because he surely would have been something..unless he suddenly starts to dance in the midst of battle..which he surely would do

+SarzaelX That's actually wrong, I checked him multiple times and tried to spare him multiple times, and when I killed him, I still went on with the genocide run. It's only if you didn't exhaust the random encounters in the Hotland/Core and battle him anyway that your genocide run will end.

Sans dies in one hit, he just keeps dodging your attacks.

Actually, it's impossible to be at LV 13 at this point if you're on the Genocide Route.
LV 14, but not LV 13. You will always be LV 8 or higher when you fight Undyne the Undying, and LV 11 or higher after killing Undyne the Undying, and then killing the required number of monsters in Hotland will always get you to LV 14 or higher.
Oddly, nobody in Undertale commented on my blatant racism against certain kinds of monsters.

earlier on it's meant to be difficult to actually intentionally be comitting genocide. at this point you're supposed to feel bad about all the senseless murder, this is meant to rub it in. same is true of the sans fight (once you survive long enough anyway)

That's because you landed a full strike, a very weak strike screws up your entire Genocide, starting with that dialouge, hence "you were holding back."
@@agent7103 Actually, it all depends if you killed everyone in hotland. As soon everyone is dead in hotland (aside from Mettaton), it's impossible to fail the route and hence, you'd get the dialogue.
Should you not kill everyone, then the shown dialogue is what pops up, followed by a failed genocide route. Damage doesn't affect it.

So true. I beat sans, Undyne the undying, asriel, photoshop flowey, all those bosses no hit: but nothing could amount to the difficulty of this boss. I lost with all items, temy armor equipped, and hours of practice. Took me like 37 attempts to beat the boss named NE- ok, I can't do this anymore.

I was dissapointed by this battle. I was expecting a boss fight of the caliber of undyne. But it's sad to know that mettaton ex is way more interesting than this.
I understand that the genocide/no mercy run is supposed to sour a lot of the experience to the point of feeling bad about your motives. But I wanted to have a real hard battle against mettaton. One that he could deliver the most insane tricks and demostrated that he wanted to stop you no matter what.
Fun fact: Mettaton NEO's theme is actually a remix of the first 5 seconds of genocide Undyne's theme. And genocide Undyne is fucking brilliant.

Everyone is talking about how there should have been a fight for Mettaton NEO, but honestly, what I love about this video specifically is the alternate dialogue if you hesitate.
Normally, they say a one-liner if you kill them right away. But I love how if you hesitate, they say “you’re not evil, because you held back against me.” I don’t know about you guys, but I found that a lot more… not powerful, but more interesting than when Sans tried to “spare” the player.
I’m pretty sure the reason he said that is because they didn’t kill everyone in hotland so it aborts the genocide route if you kill him before that and this is the way the game shows you aborted it

i really wish that toby would’ve made a boss fight with mettaton NEO and i know that many people say that it’s good that he didn’t because well, who wants a super tough boss fight right before sans? but, i personally believe that it would’ve been a good way to punish the player for choosing the genocide route and to also make the player think that it couldn’t possibly get harder than that then get their ass kicked by sans. but idk... that’s just my opinion.
Mettaton knows that he will be a one hit kill. So he doesnt let you attack. You must keep dodging until you can strike. The 1-hit ko will still be there, but you also have a good boss fight

+SarzaelX That's actually wrong, I checked him multiple times and tried to spare him multiple times, and when I killed him, I still went on with the genocide run. It's only if you didn't exhaust the random encounters in the Hotland/Core and battle him anyway that your genocide run will end.
