Her mentions of undyne were what really got to me for some reason. When she’s defeated and she’s just like “if undyne couldn’t do it then of course I couldn’t” it really hit hard. I’m not going to be able to do genocide because I love them all so much
@@doktorfluuf1643 Its complicated, but Sans made a promise not to fight humans. In the genocide path, he realizes the world itself will be in danger if he doesn't stop you, so he breaks his promise. If you don't sustain the genocide run all the way to the end of the game, you don't get to fight Sans.

She just wanted to put them in danger and them save them from it in order to be their heroine and feel more confident with herself because of it. Sure, she did a lot of questionable things (though tbh it was Mettaton who set up most of them), and she's arguably one of the worst characters (by comparison), but she never had any bad intentions, and she redeems herself in the Pacifist and Genocide runs by facing her mistakes from the past and revealing the existence of the True Lab. Also, Alphys is female. Just saying because you referred to her as "this guy".
I really like the uniqueness of this fight's mechanics, on top of how neatly it would fit into an actual genocide run, in terms of the dialogue, the artwork, and also its lore-friendliness.
Okay, but imagine how Mettaton feels. He’s probably watching via cameras in her lab, watching his creator go down in vein. Imagine how much harder the Mettaton Neo fight would’ve hit. He might’ve powered through the low defense to avenge his doctor.
This is fantastic. The way her theme and attacks get more and more desperate at the end is incredibly gut wrenching, and the way the game outright refuses to let you spare her is cold. I’ve never rooted for a boss as much as I do here.
This is beautiful and heartbreaking. Alphys remembers everything about her friends and uses ALL of it against you. The music proves it. You can hear some of many of their themes within the battle theme. By this point, she knows it's suicide to fight you. But she doesn't care. She'd rather be dead if she has no one to live for anymore. She's got DETERMINATION in her SOUL, and if she loses, has set herself to be punished in the way she ruined all those other monsters' lives. Melting from the DETERMINATION.
And what seriously hurts me right There is that when the blow is delivered, as her magic depletes, her SOUL dies, and she turns to dust, you can see some pixels at the corner of her mouth - the sweet release of death, the release of the pain of melting… this is what she made Shyren’s sister, Snowdrake’s mother, feel… She deserves this. Goodbye, cruel world.
Personally my favorite part of this fight is from 7:09 to 7:32, they are at their strongest ever, and right at that 7:30 mark, the music starts to falter, their SOUL starts to fade away, and yet they continue to fight on, they become increasingly desperate to win, pulling out all the stops until, at the very end, only one hit away from victory, they are unable to push themselves any further. They finally see that this fight is one they cannot win, And they reflect back on her life, suddenly realizing that the amount of pain and suffering that they are going through was the exact pain and suffering that they gave all of the amalgamations. It is at this point where they realize that they deserve this, and finally give in.
nah. she's suck. she's a damn liar. lied to the amalgamates' families, lied to undyne, lied to us. she even created a goddamn treath like flowey. too bad we couldn't kill her ourselves in the game. and too bad that to get rid of her requires either undyne's or mettaton's life and papyrus's happiness. which is totally suck.
I love how when Alphys manipulates time the song just keeps going the way it goes, but once she is uses all her the determination the music also gets affected by Alphys' manipulation of time. Best fan made boss ever made

When she says “this… pain… this is what i made them feel!”,she’s talking about the amalgamates,the experiments she made by injecting determination into monsters,what she made them go through,and what she’s feeling now. Good detail.
Another good detail is when shes like "Why am I giving you hints?" And "The look on your face, the dust on your clothes... It was all wrong." That implies the player did pacifist beforehand, since she might vaguely remember what it's supposed to be like and the way she'd help the player by explaining puzzles
Even years later this is still one of the most impressive fan bosses. Gaster Blasters because she has some of the tools of the previous Royal Scientist, Gaster, Papyrus' maze, Mettaton's soul gimmick, the ability to rewind, fast forward, slow down, and pause, and that final determination attack... Wow.
All she had to do was to do what flowey did and completely surround the player with projectiles. Repeat until dead. Don’t stop until the player gives up.
@@the711devin4 ok, it is an idea. but sadly, one cannot acomplish that unlike the characters that break the rules of the game. flowey, frisk and sans are the only ones who have the power to manipulate some rules. flowey can surround you with projectiles, frisk resets the game, and sans makes you miss him. all the others dont have the power to do this.

A beautiful example of video games as art. The music, the dialogue, the humor and references to our journey along the way. The interactivity and using motifs from the other characters really elevates the whole experience. The world can be a horrible place, but we should be happy people are making art like this, sharing it and us experiencing it together. I can only imagine how Toby feels seeing this.
This is a really cool battle that I could see happening in a Genocide run. It's really cool and looks like it could be a good middle boss between Undyne the Undying and Sans, along with how well Alphys' character is captured here. Even the ending attack is really cool and seems unique to Alphys rather than being something similar from Sans, Mettaton, and even a little of Asgore. The ending with the game telling you to finish the job is gut punching with how you coded it so a player who was having regrets after the battle may try to back out after leaving her in a state of agony.
This would fit better as mettaton neo fight, Alphys shouldn’t resist this many attacks, even if this is cooler and more heartbreaking, tho that final attack would have to chill out a little lol
@@josuegarro5437 the story is that Alphys injected herself with large amounts of determination, simply put because of her determination to stop you. Unfortunately, monster souls don’t mix well with injected determination, and it causes mutations. But, if it had a chance to stop you, then it was worth it, worth the painful potential death to have a chance of stopping you and saving the world, not fully understanding that you have functional natural determination, on a path of pure evil rather than pure good. Normal Alphys without injected determination? Yeah, one hit would kill. With the injected determination? She at least has a fighting chance, but unfortunately the power of natural determination can accomplish anything.
what’s depressing is that by killing her in the end you’re actually sparing her, by putting her out of her misery. If you “spare” her, you leave her there to suffer all her injuries, and even the game itself won’t let you be THAT evil.
the fact that she was smiling with the last hit really got to me, because i’m pretty sure alphys killed herself after genocide because she "let everyone down" or something like that (not sure if its canon) so because everyone was already dead, she would’ve died anyway.
Not everyone was dead. When your stop the Genocide run at the last enemy in the core, you get an ending, where alphys evacuate some monsters like the monsters in Snowdin. Even thought they were in the True Lab and saw the amalgamates, everyone treated her like a hero, so she was the new ruler of the Underground. Since she lives in that ending and only 1 or 2 more survived, she didn't need to kill herself. It is still possible, but realy unlikely.

Frisk is at LV 12, which is around what you end up at after you get past Undyne the Undying, and definitely lower than your LV by the time you fight Mettaton NEO at the Core. When Alphys lists the characters you killed, she mentions Papyrus and Undyne, but not Mettaton. Additionally, she mentions that Mettaton never got to try out his human eradication features, so that she's beta testing them, implying that he may be able to use them later. This implies that when you fight Alphys, you haven't gotten through Hotland and fought Mettaton NEO yet. If Alphys is fighting you, then is Mettaton leading the evacuation? This would make a good AU

Alphys would not have been expected AT ALL, and with how her character’s been written, it would have made sense for her to have one final stand. This fight would have been a perfect way to cap off Genocide. Alphys leaves like a complete badass (despite her miserable cry of pain in the end), gives Chara absolute hell but is ultimately defeated in painful fashion. It’s an epic battle with a very depressing ending. Would have been a great way to cap it off.

yo the idea of Alphys utilising the abilities of other bosses like Sans, considering she studies them and worked with Gaster, is a REALLY cool concept, and I love that the theme here has some motifs from Battle Against A True Hero and (Asgore's theme that I can't spell)! Alphys definitely has the potential to put the "hell" in "bullet hell", considering she created all the puzzles in Hotland and Mettaton, meaning she gave him that power herself. you did an amazing job on this and it looks incredibly legit!
10000/10 battle, it's so intense and epic i love it, and not only that, there's a little extra fun challenge to the battle as well if you taunt her through the ACT button, maknig things way more fun, and the taunts are so brutal i love them, for example, when she says "how many more need to die before you'll be satisfied?!", in the next turn you can taunt her and ask her if she's talking to herself, good fight, and good challenge as well, the item setup is nice i guess too

this is so well done. It really feels like a real boss fight in Undertale. Even healing yourself in the middle of battle. It makes it even more realistic.

Sorry for commenting on a 5 year old video but this is amazing. When I noticed the CORE leitmotif I went nuts!! I especially love how her attacks turn into a rhythm game towards the end, I feel like that's so true to Alphys. I've never watched a fake boss battle that was this solid. Really nicely done.

I feel like, if this fight was slightly easier in places (like the final attack that practically demands full HP on account of its difficulty), this could absolutely work in-game. The attacks and dialogue are on point. This still holds up as one of the best fanmade UT fights ever.

I remember seeing this years ago. This is one of the best, most realistic and most creative boss fights I've seen by fans for this game
It does suffer a bit from a common problem with fan content where the difficulty is just way to high, but it was a cool fight

Personally my favorite part of this fight is from 7:09 to 7:32, they are at their strongest ever, and right at that 7:30 mark, the music starts to falter, their SOUL starts to fade away, and yet they continue to fight on, they become increasingly desperate to win, pulling out all the stops until, at the very end, only one hit away from victory, they are unable to push themselves any further. They finally see that this fight is one they cannot win, And they reflect back on her life, suddenly realizing that the amount of pain and suffering that they are going through was the exact pain and suffering that they gave all of the amalgamations. It is at this point where they realize that they deserve this, and finally give in.
The saddest part is that alphys acts like a friend trying to train you during most of this.

When she says “this… pain… this is what i made them feel!”,she’s talking about the amalgamates,the experiments she made by injecting determination into monsters,what she made them go through,and what she’s feeling now. Good detail.
Another good detail is when shes like "Why am I giving you hints?" And "The look on your face, the dust on your clothes... It was all wrong." That implies the player did pacifist beforehand, since she might vaguely remember what it's supposed to be like and the way she'd help the player by explaining puzzles

Even years later this is still one of the most impressive fan bosses. Gaster Blasters because she has some of the tools of the previous Royal Scientist, Gaster, Papyrus' maze, Mettaton's soul gimmick, the ability to rewind, fast forward, slow down, and pause, and that final determination attack... Wow.
The heart breaking part of all of this is that Alphys almost won.
The human would just reset
All she had to do was to do what flowey did and completely surround the player with projectiles. Repeat until dead. Don’t stop until the player gives up.

@@the711devin4 ok, it is an idea. but sadly, one cannot acomplish that unlike the characters that break the rules of the game. flowey, frisk and sans are the only ones who have the power to manipulate some rules. flowey can surround you with projectiles, frisk resets the game, and sans makes you miss him. all the others dont have the power to do this.

A beautiful example of video games as art. The music, the dialogue, the humor and references to our journey along the way. The interactivity and using motifs from the other characters really elevates the whole experience. The world can be a horrible place, but we should be happy people are making art like this, sharing it and us experiencing it together. I can only imagine how Toby feels seeing this.

This is a really cool battle that I could see happening in a Genocide run. It's really cool and looks like it could be a good middle boss between Undyne the Undying and Sans, along with how well Alphys' character is captured here. Even the ending attack is really cool and seems unique to Alphys rather than being something similar from Sans, Mettaton, and even a little of Asgore. The ending with the game telling you to finish the job is gut punching with how you coded it so a player who was having regrets after the battle may try to back out after leaving her in a state of agony.
This would fit better as mettaton neo fight, Alphys shouldn’t resist this many attacks, even if this is cooler and more heartbreaking, tho that final attack would have to chill out a little lol

Unfortunately, monster souls don’t mix well with injected determination, and it causes mutations. But, if it had a chance to stop you, then it was worth it, worth the painful potential death to have a chance of stopping you and saving the world, not fully understanding that you have functional natural determination, on a path of pure evil rather than pure good.
Normal Alphys without injected determination? Yeah, one hit would kill. With the injected determination? She at least has a fighting chance, but unfortunately the power of natural determination can accomplish anything.

the fact that she was smiling with the last hit really got to me, because i’m pretty sure alphys killed herself after genocide because she "let everyone down" or something like that (not sure if its canon) so because everyone was already dead, she would’ve died anyway.
Not everyone was dead. When your stop the Genocide run at the last enemy in the core, you get an ending, where alphys evacuate some monsters like the monsters in Snowdin. Even thought they were in the True Lab and saw the amalgamates, everyone treated her like a hero, so she was the new ruler of the Underground. Since she lives in that ending and only 1 or 2 more survived, she didn't need to kill herself. It is still possible, but realy unlikely.
@@Marxererer i like your view of it, but alphys also likely had depression and as someone with it, even if you're treated as a hero it doesn't make you feel like one. especially when all of your friends have been murdered. i think "she didn't 'need' to kill herself" is sort of a dismissal to depression. sorry if i'm wording things oddly

Frisk is at LV 12, which is around what you end up at after you get past Undyne the Undying, and definitely lower than your LV by the time you fight Mettaton NEO at the Core. When Alphys lists the characters you killed, she mentions Papyrus and Undyne, but not Mettaton. Additionally, she mentions that Mettaton never got to try out his human eradication features, so that she's beta testing them, implying that he may be able to use them later. This implies that when you fight Alphys, you haven't gotten through Hotland and fought Mettaton NEO yet. If Alphys is fighting you, then is Mettaton leading the evacuation?

skeleton gamer2007 It would have been the perfect twist too. Alphys would not have been expected AT ALL, and with how her character’s been written, it would have made sense for her to have one final stand. This fight would have been a perfect way to cap off Genocide. Alphys leaves like a complete badass (despite her miserable cry of pain in the end), gives Chara absolute hell but is ultimately defeated in painful fashion. It’s an epic battle with a very depressing ending. Would have been a great way to cap it off.

yo the idea of Alphys utilising the abilities of other bosses like Sans, considering she studies them and worked with Gaster, is a REALLY cool concept, and I love that the theme here has some motifs from Battle Against A True Hero and (Asgore's theme that I can't spell)! Alphys definitely has the potential to put the "hell" in "bullet hell", considering she created all the puzzles in Hotland and Mettaton, meaning she gave him that power herself.

10000/10 battle, it's so intense and epic i love it, and not only that, there's a little extra fun challenge to the battle as well if you taunt her through the ACT button, maknig things way more fun, and the taunts are so brutal i love them, for example, when she says "how many more need to die before you'll be satisfied?!", in the next turn you can taunt her and ask her if she's talking to herself, good fight, and good challenge as well, the item setup is nice i guess too

Sorry for commenting on a 5 year old video but this is amazing. When I noticed the CORE leitmotif I went nuts!! I especially love how her attacks turn into a rhythm game towards the end, I feel like that's so true to Alphys. I've never watched a fake boss battle that was this solid. Really nicely done.

I feel like, if this fight was slightly easier in places (like the final attack that practically demands full HP on account of its difficulty), this could absolutely work in-game. The attacks and dialogue are on point. This still holds up as one of the best fanmade UT fights ever.
As long as you have at least 23 health (like he did in the battle) and followed the music, you would win, like the person who made this did.
