In case someone hasn't mentioned it, if you're wondering what the purpose of this area is with the BOS side, this is a potential location to build...what you use to get into The Institute, without going too deep into spoilers.
I use it as a scavenging station and just have robots go out and be my provisioners. Aesthetically I just enjoyed the storage unit vibe that was going on with it. I enjoy having a few separate robot settlements that kind of serve other areas. One of my favorite spots because of that - if that's weird xD.
For those that don't really know: this settlement only exists to build the signal interceptor, and the actuators for Liberty Prime, which is why options are so completely locked down. the only reason Ox can build anything other than a buildings, furnature and decor and crafting stations is the mod he used to unlock the rest of the workshop options. Unmodded, at best, you can make your own player home, and that's about it. You can move settlers here from other places, and supply them with food via supply networks, but all you can really do is assign them to defense stations and that's all. No stores, a handful of vault 88 items. The airport is just not a real settlement. Weirdly, though you can build a bunker hill caravan stop here. It is nice to just have a place to yourself where you don't have random settlers muddying up your floors to your personal shack though. It's still kind of annoying that you can send people here, but not Home Plate(which is a player home you pay 2k caps to get). It's probably unintentional to be honest. Oh, and Ox; there's a bell you can construct that brings settlers to it. I think it was part of wasteland workshop. Edit: Yes, the gathering bell IS enabled unmodded, it's under resources>misc. So if someone insisted on being silly and sending settlers here, and they get stuck in the BoS work area, that ingame fix is available to them.
While standard settlement attacks may not happen, I know BOS knights and even Paladins can spawn at the wreckage of the Prydwen. I've had it happen a few times. So I made this site extra secure. I plan to use it as a garrison against the BOS (I sided with the institute) and as a weapons and armor manufacturing hub. In a way, a lack of farms, shops, etc. Is ideal here, as I can assign most to security or supply carravans instead of wasting them on farming, stores, etc.
Without mods, you can't really attract settlers, or produce food or water. So it's best as a player home, an outdoor lounge area for Brotherhood members to chill when off duty, or as a robot trade hub for sending resources to full settlements. It has uses, but just isn't a complete settlement.
I'm playing on a PS4 and the garden plot does not show up when I access resources - miscellaneous within The Boston Airport. It's does in other places that have dirt within them. Am I doing something wrong?
+Sebastian Hopkins No, I have a mod installed (linked in the description) that allows all full features of the workshop in Boston Airport. In the vanilla game, Boston Airport has many restrictions, including the inability to plant food or make garden plots.
Hey Ox, if you need help finding places to place a water pump, you can place em in a garden plot. Believe it or not, it'll work. Takes a second to get the placement right, though.
This one made me furious. Spent HOURS building one of my nicest settlements just to get to the last thing and build the gardens just to find out can’t build produce not even when using the food plots in the decorations part nor recruit settlers. I wouldn’t had wasted the time if the game would make this known prior to building.
I just realised the same thing. I have played FO4 for over 500 hours and never built a settlement at Boston Airport. I spent the last two days building which in total took me atleast 10-12 hours, only to find out I can’t use it as a normal settlement…

Oxhorn the feature with no attack spawn points can relate to the games lore because if you become a part of the brotherhood of steel they could protect you but if you aren't in the brotherhood of steel there's no explanation
I went BOS and they are all over the place so I never saw any raiders. You also get the loudest neighbor in existence going with them sadly. Though the weirdest thing I've had happen is the super mutants across the bay will occasionally take pop shots at Ada...
To my experience, you can't attract settlers even if you bound with BOS. There's no option for a recruitment beacon in the menus, and I play it on console. So no mods, no settlement on console
You can still use it as a settlement, it just won't be super happy (since it is going to have to live on food pulled from other settlements). All you have to do is send people to it from elsewhere. Also, it is a good choice for a robot settlement (even near the Mech's lair) since they don't care. Also, it would probably be fun to use it as a trapping center if the BoS are still up and running - both to defend it from attacks and because you can trap up a bunch of fun and dump them out on the side for the BoS to tangle with.
Can you put down the garden boxes you get from Wasteland Workshop? Or did you need to use the mod to do that? I didn't understand which way you had to do it.

That's very strange.... my keyboard is set to UK English but I bring up the console by pressing the ' key. When I play Skyrim its the tilde key though.
I turned my Boston airport into a small base you know where all those soilder who don't have bed on the ship can sleep I want to get a few settler here But I don't know how to get them here .might use chest terminal and spawn settlers here I'll make a farm settlement not far from the airport I'm trying to build the thing up like fort knoxs..

As Oxhorn says in the first minute or so of the video, you need to find and download a mod that unlocks that functionality for the Boston Airport. By default, Boston Airport is very limited in terms of what settlement functionality it allows. If you're on PC, the mod Oxhorn used is linked at the end of the video description. I have no idea whether or not there is a console mod that does the same thing.

Personally I think the airport works better as a player home, especially with the lackluster home on the prydwen.
What is missing is the massive TSA lines to get in..

Before you destroy the Prdwyen there does not seem to be any raider spawns nearby BTW. I used the airport as my arena

This is really good with bos if u send a supply run from nordhagen beach and it never gets attacked because the prydwen is there lol

Looks like you need the Scrap Everything mod. Garbage decals and the like can then be scrapped and do produce scrap materials.

The garden plots come from Wasteland Workshop :) However, I needed to install the Boston Airport workbench mod to open them up.
