I just bought a new Corvette. I was thinking about doing a relic job on it. You know, nothing too extreme, maybe Crack the windshield, kick in the quarter panel, burn a cou😢of holes in the driver's side seat. That should do it!

Glad to see the heritage! I have the exact same guitar and I absolutely love it as well! The pickups are amazing. The frets haven’t bothered me but I probably like more vintage frets. heritages do have fret nibs. sometimes they get rounded down to very little in the neck rolling process but if you look closely you will see nibs on all of their fretboards
I wore my new KYG work shirt to the airport yesterday back from Texas, after a 4 hour layover, I had more than a few people recognize the logo and asked if I was a moderator.
I bought a Heritage Custom Core shortly after they released them. I haven't had issues with the frets, it is a fantastic guitar! The 225 pickups are very vintage PAF, but I swapped them for a set of Jalen "Kingfish" humbuckers which are more aggressive in tone. It is my favorite guitar now. I ended up buying an H-535 and it is a perfect 335 style guitar.
I have one of these Heritage H-150s in Cadillac Green, purchased in Sep 2023, and it does have fret-edge binding, ie, binding over the fret ends, not frets over the binding

They don’t make them anymore). And ever since getting it, I’ve been planning to get the H-150. Sure looks like that’s happening sooner than later!
Regarding the question about the nut being cut wrong and using a tuner to determine this. If the nut slot is the right depth but not cut at the correct angle, all fretted notes on that string will be a little sharp when the open string is in tune. This will be the case even when the first fret string action is perfect.
Thanks for the heritage review! Been waiting for it for ages and was wondering why it was delayed. Frets are not too low for me because the action is so low and perfect. Only thing that bugs me is the single cut horn. It’s shorter than Gibson’s and digs into my leg when I sit with it for a little while. It’s my nicest guitar and it’s really phenomenal value and quality. Especially love how it feels like a vintage instrument.
I got an Eastman 259/v and it’s the best guitar I own. Better than my Gibson Standard. It’s so good ! I was blown away how good it was. Looks beautiful plays beautiful and the Lollar pickups are insane

Been thinking about the 150 model for a few months try snag a used one someday. Those first couple notes sounded exactly like the tones I loved in the early 70s from the Les Paul' players
I have a question and I hope it isn't one that shouldn't be asked at a NAMM show or anywhere else! Question seems pretty straightforward: which manufacturer of electric guitars offers the widest space between frets. Wider spaces would be great for us old guys. I understand a longe fretboard length will allow for wider spaces (unless two more frets are added). But looking at 22 frets, is one brand making frets spaced farther apart? I'm not looking for an acoustic. Any thoughts?
??? Hello Phil, I love your work. My question is.. I love the neck on my Ibanez RG 350. It just feels good. I am wanting a Kiesel but I do not know if they make something similar. I live in Florida so I cannot stop into their store. I am thinking headless because it is less likely to get bumped out of tune. I am also thinking 4 string bass because I have an Eart. If I love the Kiesel I will probably replace the Eart with the Kiesel. If you can't help with this perhaps one of your friends at Kiesel can. Thanks in advance and thanks for the Heritage Guitar of the day. Too pricey for me though. I will probably get the most basic Kiesel.
I've gotta say this while I watch you go back and forth over the Heritage and the Gibson: my Eastman Les Paul plays at least as nice your Gibson or your Heritage. In other words I wouldn't trade my Eastman (reliced) for either of them. Lollar pickups. I hope I'm never stupid enough to let it leave my quiver. If all I had left were this and my Gurian JM150 acoustic I'd never miss any other guitar I don't have.
A few years ago I bought a Fender Nate Mendel Precision which is reliced to match Nate’s. I initially wasn’t crazy about the idea, I mean the Geddy Jazz isn’t reliced. I bought it anyway because I liked the specs and the tone. Now the relicing is pretty light, Nate’s bass is almost 50 years old, but he obviously takes pretty good care of it. One day, I accidentally hit my drummer’s cymbal with the headstock and it got a little ding. That’s when I realized the advantage of a reliced guitar. If that had happened to my non-reliced Jazz, I would have been pissed. On the Nate, no big deal, just one more ding. I could even tell people that’s was from Taylor Hawkins cymbal 😅
Hi Phill Please review a MAYBACH - any model… youll be amazed with quality, mojo and price. Thanks for all your fantastic work! Sheers from sunny south Algarve (Portugal)
Randomly putting this thought here in case anyone else has an opinion: In the last few years I've bought two Nitro gibsons and two nitro Fenders, and maybe it's me but I would like to hear others' experiences, that it feels to me like a Fender nitro neck is WAY stickier than Gibson. I never have to take a damp cloth to either Les Paul, but the Strat and Tele both need cleaned after just a few hours' play. Now, the Fenders are newer yes, but I don't remember having this problem at all with the Les Pauls, and it was only a couple years ago anyway.
Whoops, yeah, noticed that later. I found a Custom H150, used (excellent) for $2,700. In description it says '50's C shape'. I was a little confused because I thought the classic, thin C shape was a 60's design and 50's for Fender and Gibson are fat as crap.
The comment “I prefer to know the story of all my dings and dents” is right on IMO. You should take a guitar and either finish it or add relicing to a new one. It’s fun.
Ibanez should be part of the big three over PRS only read PRS comes to mind is because it’s an American made that’s sells at prices that make them appear like they’re a top brand which they may be but not in sales numbers

When Badlands guitars was first announced, wasn't Phil saying he and a few other TH-camrs were part owners in the company? Now it appears they were only in a one year marketing agreement? I think the initial success was because of their involvement in the company. Now that he/they are no longer "involved" will they still sell?
Seeing there has been a lefty theme running through the episode, I would say the last 4 years has been very good to lefties (me). I was able to buy a lefty Gibson Explorer, Pelham Blue SG, A Gretsch Duo Jet for almost half price, a Bigsby equipped G5420T, and A Fender Jazzmaster. But now I see the lefty options are disappearing again as they become discontinued from the manufacturer. I find there is a 10 year cycle of when guitar companies try harder to cater to lefties. In 2000 when I started there was a lot of Lefties and then they disappeared. From 2010 to 2014 I bought a lefty PRS Custom 22, an EVH with a Floyd and a Gibson LP T, and then lefties disappeared again. Let’s see what happens around 2030.
Yeah, Phil mentioned Sire a few episodes ago. I wasn’t familiar so I looked them up and found I can get a lefty with real P90s which is something I’ve wanted for a long time. Planning on picking one up before they stop offering them! I feel like Gretsch does pretty decent for us lefties. I have three of them which pretty much run the gamut of their price range. I got so excited when they came out with the P90 equipped jets, only to find out they weren’t making a left handed version though…
they dont cure them nearly as much as you would think, I was in final setup and the guitars come straight off the buffing wheel to have hardware installed, and those guitars finish is still very "soft" very easy to blemish scratch or jab.
I don’t think we need nitro finishes per se, or fake nitro like on more affordable Gibsons, for tone or resonance or whatever. What we do need, I think, is thinner finishes.
Nitro finishes are trash and inferior. Let me explain why. Please try to remove bias from replies. The nitro that was used on vintage instruments was banned by the EPA in 1975. The nitro being using today is reformulated, restricted, and not the same stuff. There's also a ton of marking BS surrounding nitro somehow being more legit for serious instruments. When you spray nitro, 70% of the product consists of toxic solvents that evaporate. What's left is a thin, fragile finish that never fully cures. To do it right, you need to build up several thin layers. Gibson, for example, lays it on thick, in order to save time. This is why many folks have been complaining about the sticky feel of Gibson necks. Nitro finishes continually off-gas for years (has a sweet bar soap smell). This is neurotoxic and can affect the endocrine system as well as development of children's neurological systems. With that, I would not have a nitro guitar next to my bed or in my kids' room. There is no tone difference between poly and nitro. There has been no credible A/B tests using a DAW. Any perceived difference is placebo. Yes, nitro is easier to relic. This is a totally different topic. There's a running joke of doctors and lawyers buying custom shop relic guitars so they can give the impression thay have a lot more playing time invested than they actually do. Folks, save yourself the hassle and go for more modern finishes. If not for your health, then for your family?
I managed to bag a Heritage Custom S/Cut Lemon Burst last summer for $3,216 (after tax) in a sale. Everybody raves about them. I'm a rubbish player and feel a bit dentist-y about owning the beauty cos I can't do it justice.
im left handed ( im also moderately ambidextrous ) , in my opinion "right handed guitars" are actually left handed; the lefthanded dexterity required to play a "right handed guitar" imo is far grater than the dexterity required of the right hand. If "right handed guitars" work for right handed people i personally think there should be no "left handed guitars". I do suck at playing the guitar, but that's ad hominem.
I could lie to you about natural or artificial relic and you wouldnt know. MJT and others are relics. A fender from 1960 is a relic. Tell me how a sanding job that took 2 days is different than a sanding job that took 50 years?
@@revtimewest I could never lie to someone like that; it's just not in my character. But I can tell the difference between a fake sparkle finish done in a paint booth and a natural one created from fairy sneezes.
Gibson's invented relics with their "neck break" flaw repair. In fact, anyone trying to buy a Gibson get yourself one that already has the neck broken and has been repaired.. it will save you the heartbreak and headache down the line when you break the neck and have to have it repaired. Plus you will get a huge discount on it 🥸

Hi Phill
Please review a MAYBACH - any model… youll be amazed with quality, mojo and price. Thanks for all your fantastic work! Sheers from sunny south Algarve (Portugal)
Those pickups sound amazing in the Heritage! A different headstock want change that...
On Sweatwater's sight it says SD 59's for pups on the Heritage.
that would be the H150 this is a Custom Core H150.
Whoops, yeah, noticed that later. I found a Custom H150, used (excellent) for $2,700. In description it says '50's C shape'. I was a little confused because I thought the classic, thin C shape was a 60's design and 50's for Fender and Gibson are fat as crap.
The Fender JMJ Mustang bass is made in Mexico and comes with Nitro.
The comment “I prefer to know the story of all my dings and dents” is right on IMO. You should take a guitar and either finish it or add relicing to a new one. It’s fun.
The Ibanez Roadcore guitars did have more of the chunky Strat style neck. It's sad that Ibanez discontinued that series.
In this video what guitar is the black guitar above your yellow Ibanez genesis rg550
Just got the new 70th anniversary ultra strat amethyst top. So you think that will appreciate like the PRS silver sky nebula?
Ibanez should be part of the big three over PRS only read PRS comes to mind is because it’s an American made that’s sells at prices that make them appear like they’re a top brand which they may be but not in sales numbers
It doesn’t matter
@@stevemc75it matters enough for you to share your opinion just like I shared mine
I would say the silver sky sales numbers disagree with your assertion.

Hahaha! I love vintage frets and hate tall frets. Medium jumbo is not what I love, but that's as tall as I can deal with.
When Badlands guitars was first announced, wasn't Phil saying he and a few other TH-camrs were part owners in the company? Now it appears they were only in a one year marketing agreement? I think the initial success was because of their involvement in the company. Now that he/they are no longer "involved" will they still sell?
I believe Fernandes had the licence to make the original Floyd's but Floyd stuck a deal with Schaller which were made for the 1 st kramer guitars
Def. Talk about the first NAMM show before it leaves your memory! LOL
I got so excited when they came out with the P90 equipped jets, only to find out they weren’t making a left handed version though…
having recently been employed by Gibson Acoustic, and the current daily quota is 160.
they dont cure them nearly as much as you would think, I was in final setup and the guitars come straight off the buffing wheel to have hardware installed, and those guitars finish is still very "soft" very easy to blemish scratch or jab.
Late to the party, love you Phil
RIP Dickey Betts.
I don’t think we need nitro finishes per se, or fake nitro like on more affordable Gibsons, for tone or resonance or whatever.
What we do need, I think, is thinner finishes.
.? Hey Phil u don't do much about jazz boxes. How about Epiphone Broadway as an alternative to ES 175 that is now unavailable these days...?
Whenever I win the lottery I will definitely pick one of those up
Nitro finishes are trash and inferior.
My favorite is 1 Volume, 2 Tone.
I managed to bag a Heritage Custom S/Cut Lemon Burst last summer for $3,216 (after tax) in a sale. Everybody raves about them. I'm a rubbish player and feel a bit dentist-y about owning the beauty cos I can't do it justice.
Mackie quality control has gone really down hill in the last few years.
I eat ALOT of garlic but I haven't smelled my frets......
I guess I should have somebody check.
Can't smell my own frets.....
That would be wierd.....
Gal has a nice voice
⚓️ Thanks Phil 🌈 polecastro really bugs me. those guys that have all the knowledge for sale really are a pain.⚓️
The typical buyer of a Core PRS still definitely cares if there are any dings or chips on a used guitar.
You rarely see ESP, Ibanez, Jackson etc relics
im left handed ( im also moderately ambidextrous ) , in my opinion "right handed guitars" are actually left handed; the lefthanded dexterity required to play a "right handed guitar" imo is far grater than the dexterity required of the right hand. If "right handed guitars" work for right handed people i personally think there should be no "left handed guitars".
I do suck at playing the guitar, but that's ad hominem.
Badlands named after Jake e Lee album?
SCRAM KID, YOU BOTHER ME.....I literally cracked up when phil said that. Funniest moment ever. 😅 Well done, Phil. Love it... 👍🎸👍🎸👍🎸
I’m surprised how often Phil mentions he isn’t a Finnish person…
I thought it was obvious he’s an American
Been playing for 40 years and I just learned that the Schaler I owned is pronounced shaller and not scale-er... 🤬🤬🤬
Is anyone a wear of how many different instruments Yamaha make …huge company.
smh ***ESCONDIDO!!! is where kiesel is from
Floyd Rose Patent expired in 2003.
I hate relics but I love aging, there’s a big difference
It does blow Gibson away, economically.
The relic trend is the dumbest thing in the history of the musical instrument market.
I will relic my own guitars by playing them, the end.
Of course there are left handed pianos: www.youtube.com/@GezaLoso
Philly Cheese steak. 😀
Just one man's opinion (that means nothing) but, sorry, relic as a status symbol is a joke for people who have too much money! 😅
You tell your friend his moms cooking is great. What’s wrong with you?
I hate relic'd guitars. Unless the guitar was relic'd by normal playing wear. But when a guitar has been relic'd naturally, I can't afford it.
I feel similarly about sparkle finishes.
I like you and your channel. But there is no way I'm going to watch 2 hours and 12 minutes. Please edit down to 20 to 55 minutes.
Just use the timestamps.
