Driving a taxi in gta 3 was nothing like crazy taxi, crazy taxi is a tried and true fun arcade experience, it doesn’t have to change greatly to be fun and appreciated by fans
Sadly, it's only fun in short spurts. I tried playing recently and while it's still fun, it was only fun for the first 15 - 30 minutes as there's nothing much in it.
I'd be happy if it was pretty much the same as the original but better graphics. Maybe have a story mission where you can soup up taxis buy taxi ranks ect
SoR4 is an absolute blessing and seeing SoR5 going 3D for real is worrisome but interesting. I know it won't capture the same feel that SoR games of old have so my expectations are different and open. I can only Hope that it's really fun and Feels good to play
The fact of the matter is SOR 4 DOES NOT feel like the originals on the Genesis. SOR 4 is horrendous it is a poor facsimile of a game, it completely lacks the feel of the original, SOR is slow cumbersome with bad controls and has some of the worst art ever to appear in a game. SOR 4 should never be compared to the originals as that would be doing the originals a complete disservice.
@@barrywallace2744 You are absolutely correct , as a real veteran fan who played SOR 1 2 3 on their lunch date , I wholeheartedly agree that SOR4 is lame by comparison to the OG trilogy , SOR4 had a lot , And I mean a lot of issues and downgrades .
How can you say that when the games aren't playable yet? Just because they bring back old IP doesn't mean they are doing anything other than most of the industry; banking on nostalgia. Hype addicts are consumers on a chain.
I'm hopeful for Golden Axe, if they play their cards right it could become a 3D beat em up in a way that God of War no longer is. We need games like that.
I'm a real Sega fan (old Sega) and i certainly don't want this. How about learning from history?? Why are so many so-called Sega "fans" still incapable of this after decades of failures? History tells us that the chances of these games being poor is very high, so as a real Sega fan i don't want to see more franchises ruined. Sega wont even be making them i bet. And common sense should tell you that SoR in 3D is even less likely to work.
Sometimes, you don't need top compete with the big AAA games, you just need to release smaller, more reasonably priced (both to develop and to buy) games that are fun to play.
Of course it terrifies you. *ANYTHING* terrifies you. You're impossible to please. I agree Sonic's not been in the best spot, but the people doing those games clearly aren't the same ones doing these ones. We don't know who's developing those games, but perhaps they're devs who know what they're doing.
I want these new games to be good that way SEGA will continue to branch out and take more risks with their IPs. Other wise we are just going to be beaten over the head with Sonic games for the next decade or two.
@@ironhell813 , Sega did kind of sell something modern, as well as American, around two decades ago, and people are literally still making mods of the game...perhaps you heard of ESPN NFL 2K5?
I really want Golden Axe to be good, since we got SOR4 it lead me to constantly hope for a new GA. From the trailer I do wish they kept Tyris Flare's hair brunette instead of changing it to blonde. Even though it's early to say hopefully that can be changed with mods.
I saw the trailer for monster hunter in which the player rides a beast and has to fight and then flee from a sand storm, jumping from high places etc. I think golden axe beast rider was a good idea but badly realised and Capcom's monster hunter trailer should have been golden axe. Let's wait for infos
When i saw this teaser during the recent Game Awards, I was ecstatic, excited, and hyped. Thinking it over after.. still interested. I am curious where they will take each game. Some may keep single player elements, or even include more features. There are so many possibilities
What makes the SOR formula work is the strategy involved in crowd management. Learning the player moveset to execute different throws and attacks based on the situation and Tying enemies up and strategically throwing and executing moves to prevent ganking, sneak attacks etc. is what gives the games depth. Can easily be extrapolated to 3D just as long as the director understands this fundemental aspect of the gameplay. Looks like they may do to an extent as there's a takedown move on display, so that adds one element of potential strategy for crowd control. They just need to add in the movesets and enemy crowding and it will work. Give the player options to flex their skills and get the satisfaction of controlling the mob well is the secret here.
basically you need a throw that you can use 360, grab and toss in any direction. You need moves that attack in all the directions, so you can maintain control...you'll need attacks that cover 360 both in the air and on the ground....and the ability to control the thrown weapons in the same way....THATS how you make a 3d beat um up....
@@rjframe4410 It sounds about right. I don't think it would be difficult to extend to 3d as the original games weren't that far removed from the extra space involved.
Dude your Crazy Taxi take is absolutely horrible, there’s room in this world for fun arcade style driving games, it’s a dying genre and is incredibly fun. GTA and Crazy Taxi are absolutely different in so many ways, what even was that argument??
I’d love to see some guest characters such as Moonwalker Michael Jackson in as a Streets of Rage 5, since they’re clearly focusing on older games here. I feel like that’d be pretty awesome, and I know I’d be hyped for it!
@@ironhell813 I'm talking graphics and art style wise. The comic book style of SOR4 was fantastic, which then was duplicated by Mayhem Brawler. I want to see a Golden Axe game done in that style.
@@ironhell813 Nah, that's nostalgia for you. Keeping the same style can get stale and boring since SOR 1, 2, 3 are practically identical. The change in 4 was nice and refreshing. Golden Axe getting the same comic book art style would be refreshing change too.
@@mr.sinjin-smyth I think that's the reason why he doesn't like SOR4 since it's basically an updated SOR2 in terms of gameplay. Other than the artstyle and the lush environments, at the end of the day it just plays like your typical SOR without doing anything new. Golden Axe doesn't need to follow what it has done, that's why we're getting something new instead of just sticking to plainly 2d for every installment.
SOR4 is one of my all time favorite beat em ups. SOR5 going 3D means a total gameplay change for a series that doesn't need a huge overhaul. Sega should know that but.....
Streets of Rage 5 could be a success if they implement a game play style the likes of Batman Arkham. More specifically like Batman Origins actually since that game introduced a side scrolling beat em up in 3d. The game would have to be smooth and less clunky of course.
The fact that Sega wants to make Crazy Taxi and JSR live service titles that's open world is incredibly worrying. The little they short of Crazy Taxi was actually really disappointing.
Yeah, I understand what you're saying. When I saw SOR in 3D, I immediately thought of that first next Gen SOR demo that was supposed to release on Dreamcast. I think they should have stuck with the 2D aspect of it like with SOR4. They should do the same with the new Golden Axe, although looking at the video demo of it, it does have some Dragon's Dogma/arcade dungeon crawler vibes to it (are there any arcade style dungeon crawlers out there??) Only game I'm really checking for out of the group is Shinobi; I'm getting some metroidvania vibes from it.
Good thing developers don't listen to complete randos regarding the type of style a particular game should look and trust in instinct of how good a game should be, y'all acting like this is the end of the world.
The most successful arcade style dungeon crawler I can think of is Gauntlet. Gauntlet Legends was a fun update on the classic, and even Gauntlet Legends is decades old now.
well we already got 4,2d streets of rage .cant blame them for trying something different if it would've been 2d you'd get a bunch of "its not better the Streets of rage 4" comments.same with golden axe enough is enough
@supremevictory4310 This is why Sega doesn't put out many games for their dormant franchises other than Sonic, because of the "fans" complaining about 2D being the standard for all games. If that was the case, we would just keep getting continuous copy and pasted games instead of trying new things like the trailer is showing.
Cool to see these series coming back, but SEGA probably shouldve started Golden Axe out with a 2D game to get thier feet wet again. Establish shit again a little more, then maybe get more experimental. With SOR4 they atleast had a very strong 2D revival. If they fuck up the 3D version there might be some room to bring it back with a 2D SOR6. Its going to be hard to match that pacing and flow of such a tight 2D game in 3D. It can be done but its a huge undertaking. Its also hard to make it feel like an SOR game at that point. I could see a behind the back style like God Hand working better for a 3D SOR.
That's too bad. Its tough these days since it takes so much more than a high quality game to be profitable. The masses often buy into alot of bullshit games, so that can overshadow the better games. I definately get the sense that SEGA is not the same company anymore. Theyve made some strange decisions in the past, so Im more confident that Golden Axe and SOR will be more like GA and SOR flavored games with completely different gameplay, likely worse than the originals. At best they will retain some of the themes but I dont have high expectations for GA or SOR in 3D, from them. Shinobi looks more promising. Crazy Taxi was a fun game for a little while when I got it on the DC, but I never got hardcore into the scoring so it didnt give me a ton of replay. Not a series Im that interested in but will check them all out. I will play through a mediocre game out of curiosity, but only pay 40 + if the games look top tier. @@ironhell813
Splatterhouse for PS3 was a pretty good attempt, but I kind of have mixed feelings about some of the environments. Seeing what happened with the third level was pretty interesting as showed the stakes were way higher than they're in the original, but at the same time, it might have been better to explore the mansion a bit more over the carnival.
@@ironhell813really? I am under the impression it outsold the expectations and sold so well it brought back the beat them up craze. I don't know the numbers but I believe it did pretty well and was included in many top list of game awards
And burning rangers. Cool designs cool concept but I could never play it as I didn't have a Saturn. I think there is potential in expanding the concept and it is quite a unique type of game, it could stand out of all the millions of games where you have a hero and a sword fighting bad stuff.
I look at the video title and only have one thing to say. Don't worry Top Hat Gaming Man your fans will support you no matter how poorly you do while playing this game for videos. At least fear of playing badly in a video is the only logical reason I can see for Top Hat Gaming Man to be terrified of the next Streets of Rage. I just wish they would bring back the Shining Force series as a SRPG, turn-based Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia, and maybe if the stars hit the exact right once in five hundred years alignment a new Sakura Taisen game with the tactical battles of the original games. Or hell just bundle the first five main series games and release them all in the US this time.
I agree. I'm personally not on the ''all classic remakes should be 2d''...If done right jumping to 3d is the better option as sometimes adhering to the 2d style limits replay/exploration/ and can sometimes feel dated, sometimes. Of course the operative term is ''if done right''...the Mario galaxy games is prime example
Just because it has never been done right doesn't mean it can't be done right at all. Adopting 3D graphics was certainly the right move, there's nothing sprites can't do polygons can't do better these days, given the approriate budget. With some talent and a little imagination, I'm sure they could come up with gameplay that feels like a proper 3D evolution of the established 2D formula. SoR4 was a big success for Sega and it has shown there's demand for more. The IP is valuable once again and I doubt they will half ass Revolution.
Lots of great points brought up. I've also wondered why so many gen z folk are seemingly nostalgic for games before their time, but I'm thankful for it since that is likely a reason why Sega is taking this chance to revive classics. Thanks, Scott the Woz, for being a good gaming influence to zoomers, I guess 😂
could be rentals, could be emulation's prominence, either way this is just a common advertising tactic, get young looking people to advertise your stuff so it sells more outside of the small circles that still enjoy these decade old albeit timeless franchises, maybe it's because I've been far too jaded for far too long but i really do hope these titles succeed in living up to their predecessors, making for new timeless classics for us all to enjoy decades down the line much like their predecessors, maybe I'm being too optimistic, for better or worse only time will tell
For me my mind instantly went to their parents or older relatives or family friends being the ones to bring these older gaming experiences to them and possibly being the games they grew up on or started them on their love for gaming.
@@traphousegamer1906 That's a small number compared to the general audience of that age range. They already have cellphones and online, so they know what modern graphics are and can't stand older games.
@@aweirdredtoad3637 You're being serious? Current culture has children raised on technology, current culture has single-parent homes and/or the worst parents from the results of how the current and previous generation have turned out. All one has to do is look of every metric of how the last decade or two has varied from the past in negative ways, primarily how attentions pans overall have dropped due to consumption of rapid information absorption and 200% or more in autism. The larger audience game companies and entertainment in general go for are those online or get their information from social media. They aren't targeting the older gen of gamers or their methods of PR and research/marketing would be different. You don't go for who is getting older, less malleable; you go for the new crop you can employ psychological tactics to far greater effectiveness. That's how you know. The "standard" should be understood just on the face of it, it's that obvious and been that way.
Never did get into Jet Set or Crazy Taxi, but those other 3 were some of my favorites. Looks like you and I are in the same boat. Thank you for for putting an elegant spin on my own thoughts. Merry Christmas!
I'm happy Sega is trying something new. Most companies just abandon they're older games. There's a ton of super old game I want a remake of. I loved the 360 golden axe & I'm happy they're making another 3d one. Look at final fantasy, every day has new stuff & some plays completely different. I love it 😍 change is good 👍🏾 it's not a big risk because most people don't even know of these games. Only older people like me 😂 and they're making more money off younger people 🤷🏾♀️ so why not mess around a little. Some will hit & others will flip 🙃
Transitioning from 2D to 3D can work if it was done with care, passion, and the understanding of current fans, while carefully drawing in new fans. Look at Ninja Gaiden and Zelda. These games transitioned to 3D successfully, especially Zelda.
Personally, I couldn't be happier. A new Golden Axe, a new Shinobi game? These are games that I haven't played since I was 18, twenty odd years ago. SoR 4 proved that there was a market for these games, and, as much as I hate to say it, living through the Sega / Nintendo console wars, I think that Sega was always better with games than with consoles.
The trailer was awesome, and it makes plenty sense. It’s a throwback to people my age. It has a very 90s vibe. The zoom in on the eyes, the dark room, 2 people on the couch controller swapping-it’s all there.
Same here: excited for *Shinobi* but nothing else. I mean, Streets of Rage 4 sells millions of copies as a state-of-the-art 2D game, so naturally SEGA decides to... make the next entry in the series a low-budget 3D game! (>_
@@ironhell813 Oh, I love 3D games... the problem is that making a great 3D action-game is incredibly expensive, and that's why SEGA sticks with its asset-reuse-friendly hit franchise: Like a Dragon. They could spend a lot of money making a 3D Shinobi but if it doesn't sell millions and millions, it'll bankrupt them no matter how good it is. So not spending a lot of money on these games makes sense... but then your only two choices are high-end 2D or low-end 3D. If high-end 2D is tried and true and tickles everyone's nostalgia bone... and 3D looks low-budget and isn't guaranteed to play well... I think the choice is clear.
2d proved to be successful for SoR4 on multiple aspects, Gameplay wise it was well cut and precise Esthetically, it was its own thing and was marketable because it had its own personality. Then it was a commercial success. I don't think it should keep with 2d forever but another sequel using the same recipe wouldn't have hurt because they could have reuse many assets and the game engine. 3d should have been brought up with a good reason, I hope they will show us an interesting 3d gimmick that will make the game worth buying
@@ironhell813 Harsh, no? People are not obsessed with 2d games, what they are is realistic in understanding that the gameplay of these games works best in 2d and doesn't transition to 3d very well. I don't want to judge your age, but if you were playing games through the early 2000's you should have the scars of many a beloved franchise that magically became 3d and was a complete pile of trash. Also, who said they can't update their games? Streets of Rage 4 was a pretty big update in terms of presentation, but it kept the core gameplay intact.
If they update anything it won’t really sell… all of the bottom feeding off sonic in the 2000s really sucked the winds out of sega. To remake in hd would be too much work for them. Like a lot of sega fans I avoided a lot of the sonic games entirely.
Iam 57 years old, and through my whole youth these arcade games iam obsessed with. And growing up when gaming was born was such a exciting time to be in, and remakes of alot of these games gets me so excited.Would love to see so many remakes of these games, like the Thunder force series to name one. But yes I know what you mean about old people hate everything lol, alot of people just like moaning about everything these days.😊
Don't worry, after watch the trailer, I am 99.9% sure it is Street of Rage 5 is going to be sucks knowing Sega past track records, especially when it comes to converting 2D games to 3D games. 😂
Sega has been pouring money into the Yakuza franchise and been neglecting these IP. It took an independent studio to ask them permission to make SOR 4. And it ended selling faster than any of their Yakuza games. At least now they know that making five fan favorites is going to be more profitable than making one yakuza game. I would be happy if one of the games turns out to be a great. I am hoping for Shinobi. I hope Koshiro does the music for Shinobi. SOR 5 will be DOA if Koshiro doesn’t do the sound.
I think its cool that Sega brought back these old franchises. I waited long for a new Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Crazy Taxi and even a new Golden Axe. Its unfair by the way to compare the PS3/360 Era games with this new one, its another time and team behind this games so give them a chance and stop making the games down before they even been released. Another thong is to compare Taxi drivin in GTA with Crazy Taxi, how the f-word could someone compare this? Its a whole other thing. Im happy for a new arcade freaky Crazy Taxi game.
That commercial made me feel old and made them look disconnected from their fans. I understand wanting to refresh these older and beloved series', and I would have thought they would know how to do that after SoR4... But I could be wrong.
SEGA has lost its touch and it pains me. I fear that bad and/or inadequate decisions will send SEGA into bankruptcy, since it is known by now that the company is not doing that well...
I hope it is. I love Streets of Rage and still return to my Genesis to play them. SoR4 just felt like the best beat em up I’ve ever played and I would have loved to see them keep pushing what that format can do. If this new one is a return to the OG with a 3D look it could be epic. The commercial still made me feel old, but I kinda am. 😆
I'm in my 40s and when i saw the ad, I couldn't understand how such young people would be so excited to play new versions of games released when they weren't even born. Nintendo really understands their audience much better than nowadays Sega, including how a "normal" family house would look like (no stupid RGB lighting).Nintendoes what Sega don't, unfortunately. I only hope they end up making good games, since I liked Sonic Mania and SOR4 very much.
I get your concern but I'm still hype for them. I'm willing to give whoever is developing them a shot. A lot of these devs had to build themselves up over the years and maybe this could be the start for these developers as well. Tho I am pretty pissed that RGG isnt doing the new streets of rage
Since Ninja Gaiden on the 1st Xbox, I always thought there's room for a 3D Shinobi, and Nioh, Sekiro or Wo Long didn't change my mind up. But I'm glad to see the licence is back in 2D, with such a high level of quality, this is the most convincing of the 5 games SEGA has revelead
When I first saw them that they were bringing back. I was utterly and most excited for crazy taxi🎉 Am I still in that game was amazing. And it's prime. And I still love playing it to this day and I would love a new version of it.💯 I guess you have to be a fan to truly no, how much it means to us.
I was actually extremely pumped when I seen this, even tho I am a bit nervous for the newest streets, because 4 was so good all around, I’m still excited for Shinobi and JetSetRadio off rip
I'm not against 3D per se, even if with the detail and realism of modern hardware characters looks always too "real" and photorealistic instead of cartoonish like they used in the past. I still don't understand why they have to turn a game that worked perfectly as a 2.5D beat em up into a full third person 3D brawler. Why not just do Golden Axe with a 3D engine but 2.5D gameplay?
You've got a point. I'd hate to see the next Streets of Rage game become something similar to Contra: Operation Galuga, which basically means a $40 indie game just because it was made by the "big" company
I think you're pretty far off the mark with this one. I'm excited got all these franchises to continue, and for SEGA to really invest in pushing them forward. Hard disagree on the last few Sonic titles, too. Godhand is an example of a good 3D brawler, too.
I completely understand your concern with Sega's new direction, but you should be glad Sega's once again does what Nintendon't: Revisiting old franchises they left it in the vault, while Nintendo's still with only Mario Bros, Zelda, Fire Emblem, Pokemon and Kirby, with everyone else being a joke to them. (Even F-Zero, and no, F-Zero 99 doesn't count)
I can name you a side-scrolling beat em up that greatly succeeded as a 3D conversion. Ninja Gaiden. Remember it started off in the arcade as a beat them up. And then it became a NES side-scrolling platformer. And now its one of the greatest Ninja 3D adventure games to date.
Only Jet Set Radio and maybe Crazy Taxi will be developed in-house by Sega. Probably Online R&D (PSO2 New Genesis Team), so prepare for microtransactions and focusing on milking whales. Rest are definitely outsourced.
Yeah I was quite disappointed seeing Golden Axe was a 3D game! It’s literally my favourite mega drive game ever! Maybe they’ll have a remake remaster after? No idea but I’ll still give it a go
@@TopHatGamingManChannelwell I would argue that it is not a bad idea in itself, I would even argue that it has potential and that Capcom released and trailer for monster hunter that seems promising. If anything this should have been beast rider Golden Axe. Running away from sandstorms. Hoovering, jumping from mountain to mountain. Although I agree that from what is shown here the 3d SoR and Golden Axe seem a bit generic and lacking personality. Hoping for the best but let's still prepare for the worse
I've been a Sega fan my whole life, since the Sega versus Nintendo days. I'm 100% hyped for every one of these games and I'm glad Sega is finally making a real push for leveling up their portfolio.
Just as you mentioned that Crazy Taxi was outdone by GTA, Shenmue was outdone by Sega themselves with Yakuza. If anything, I think having the Yakuza team work on a new Streets of Rage game might produce something great, so that probably won't be Sega's direction.
I'm a little concerned, but then again, I remember how good Spikeout was in the arcade. That was like a 3D SoR of sorts. I think it might have been a test run for that idea, from memory.
Curious to see what happens with Golden Axe. While I would have much rather had a 2d game in a similar vein to SoR4, I do feel Beast Rider could have been interesting if it wasn't for all the behind-the-scenes stupids and the lack of two-player. Whatever happens I expect I will use it as an excuse for a few more GA miniature attempts.
I am of the same opinion and for instance Capcom's monster hunter trailer that showed awesome beast riding gameplay (running away fast from a sandstorm, hoovering, jumping from mountain to mountain) is a great proof of concept. It is what I was expecting from beast rider.
I'm looking forward to seeing what they do... But equally, the art style on shinobi is like streets 4... Id love to see sor5 done the same along with Golden Axe that would just look EPIC!! but... Where's my Space Harrier? Afterburner? Outrun?? At that point I will sacrifice my children and hand sega every penny I can muster!
I’m cautiously optimistic I got into sega games back in the early 2010s on a collection for the ps2 fingers crossed for vectorman also I think the trailer may have been a reference to comix zone
They proved they could make a very good side scroller with streets of rage 4 so why not take a chance at making something different instead of falling into easy nostalgia? Innovation is better than imitation.
I'm a long time subscriber, but I've been missing the uploads of late. Forgot how much I f**king love this guy! Yeeeaaahhhh!! Also, what he said about the 3d Golden Axe - "It's crap!" - brilliant!!
I agree. If they would've just announced one old franchise coming back I would be more hopeful that it would be a quality title. But announcing all of them also makes me think that they're going to do some low budget experiment.
SOR4 is one of my all time fav games, me and my housemate still fire it up once or twice a week to do a round or two of Survival, one of the most rewarding games for mastering the characters moves I know of, at least in beat-em-up form. SOR5 looked pretty weak on the trailers, also not a fan of the shift to 3D rendered graphics, never seems to have the same feel as sprite or drawn characters, the weight and physics always feels kinda off.
NOT GONNA LIE BIGGEST SOR FAN EVER I DONT KNOW ABOUT MAKING IT 3D ITBLOOKS VERY JANK AND I LOVE 4 BECAUSE IT KEPT IT GROUNDED TO THE SERIES I PLAY ON MY STEAMDECK AND ITS AMAZING BUT YEAH I HOPE TO GOD THEY DONT MESS THIS UP
The one thing, I’m still shocked about Golden Axe, is how they are willing to try not just one, but 3 3D takes on Golden Axe without ever considering a port of Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder. I do have reservations about 3D beat em ups working as well as 2d ones, even today. On the other hand, they’ve made some pretty decent new games in some of their IPs. Shinobi has had decent titles, including 3D, but nothing really new since PS2. And they’ve generally been successful with the Phantasy Star Online games. I’m still cautiously excited for the new titles.
The only way I can see a modern beat'em up working in 3d is to do something similar to the combat in Arkham games or Spider-man. Those games have a very fluid fighting system with multiple combatants, though to get that old school feel would be difficult. The modern Beat'em up really needs to shift and evolve rather than staying stagnant.
I still want to buy GA4, because it puts GA: Beast Rider to shame. Also, a 3D Streets of Rage for the Sega Saturn almost happened in 1997, that game got rejected by Sega and later turned into Fighting Force for the PSX, N64 and PC (I highly recommend it). Sega also tried to make a 3D online-multiplayer Streets of Rage for the Dreamcast, but that got ultimately cancelled.
I think it would be better if they made the 3D Streets of Rage as a separate prequel series and call it Streets Of Rage Omega or something like that. Also keep all of the numeric sequels in 2D like Streets of Rage 4.
I agree with your skepticism. Sega is a weird company that seems to enjoy shooting itself in the foot. It's always baffled me how a company moves away from hardware to focus on games, and then goes out of its way to dismantle all it's franchise with weird gameplay decisions. I've been waiting for a proper new Shining Force since forever. As for the games, I always thought Golden Axe was somewhat overrated, so I'm not holding out much hope in this new installment, especially considering the last one. Shinobi looks super interesting, and Jet Set Radio is unique enough that if they just do a decent sequel in the spirit of the original then I can see it being successful. I agree with questioning what's the point of Crazy Taxi. The franchise by its name is very limited. If it could be something more like Simpsons Hit and Run then it could be a hit, but I don't see how they could do that without A) an established environment and B) gameplay that's focused on picking up and delivering fares. But hey, as a nostalgia piece it could work. What a lot of these have going for them is that there really aren't modern games in the same format, so they could have appeal in that regard. As for Streets of Rage 5... The fan in me sees that and thinks it's awesome, then listening to your concerns, I realised you're 100% right and a 3d environment simply does not work with that style of game. I suppose if they managed to incorporate a similar fighting style to, say, the Batman Arkham series where the focus is putting together combos and counters rather than just button mashing it could work, but I have no faith whatsoever that they'd do that. Honestly, why try to improve something that isn't broken? There is clearly a market for 2d beat 'em ups, but... ugh! I guess we can live and hope, though it wouldn't surprise me if Golden Axe releases, flops, and suddenly Streets of Rage 5 is no longer on the schedule.
At least here in the States Streets of rage 3 was terrible. Terrible music at a minimum. I hold very little hope for the same reason. Streets of rage should and always be 2d.
I agree on how the ad not being thought out very well. I think they could have had a couple in their forties looking unhappy and then once they start playing the new Sega games, they are turned to their younger selves. But Sega have always had issues understanding what their audience wants. However, I am still hopefully that most of these games hit the mark. the new Shinobi game does look very promising so far.
The Bouncer & Urban Reign on the PS2 are both examples of well-done 3D beat-em ups. The former is a little limited but was an early PS2 title & the latter is quite fun if maybe more of a more fleshed out version of the Tekken Force modes which I personally enjoyed playing. Mad World on the Wii was a much more gory, beat-em-up, hack & slash hybrid but also very satisfying.
No doubt about it....This games has to come back ...no matter what ! STREETS OF RAGE and GOLDEN AXE my bread and butter at those days late 80's early 90's
Driving a taxi in gta 3 was nothing like crazy taxi, crazy taxi is a tried and true fun arcade experience, it doesn’t have to change greatly to be fun and appreciated by fans
Need to convert the 3rd one to keep the Vegas level but of course it’ll be another rehash of the first one. Sega never gets it right.
Sadly, it's only fun in short spurts. I tried playing recently and while it's still fun, it was only fun for the first 15 - 30 minutes as there's nothing much in it.
Exactly. No need for the luxurious style with rich douchebags like displayed in GTA 6.
Yeah such a bad take, just like people expecting the new SoR to "top" 4 when it's doing something different

Solid points. Streets of Rage 4 is a great game because it feels exactly like it's 16 bit predecessors.

Sega is giving players what they want. Cut them some slack. They deserve a chance to come back with these old games.
Theyve remade stuff before and it’s always sucked, if they refuse to work with other devs than these will too.
Exactly, although I prefer these titles as 2d. I'll wait and see. also it's spin-off, not streets of rage 5 anyways...

I saw the trailer for monster hunter in which the player rides a beast and has to fight and then flee from a sand storm, jumping from high places etc.
I think golden axe beast rider was a good idea but badly realised and Capcom's monster hunter trailer should have been golden axe.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

@@ironhell813 Nah, that's nostalgia for you. Keeping the same style can get stale and boring since SOR 1, 2, 3 are practically identical. The change in 4 was nice and refreshing. Golden Axe getting the same comic book art style would be refreshing change too.

Streets of Rage 5 could be a success if they implement a game play style the likes of Batman Arkham. More specifically like Batman Origins actually since that game introduced a side scrolling beat em up in 3d. The game would have to be smooth and less clunky of course.

The shinobi is playing it safe.

@supremevictory4310 This is why Sega doesn't put out many games for their dormant franchises other than Sonic, because of the "fans" complaining about 2D being the standard for all games. If that was the case, we would just keep getting continuous copy and pasted games instead of trying new things like the trailer is showing.
you made me laugh when you pointed out the misplaced marketing :D
There is no target audience...only targets!
The Shinobi looks good! I hope Golden Axe is good!
SOR4 didn’t sell well despite the pedigree and to be honest I think Sega doesn’t have the chips to do any of them Justice anymore.

I agree. I'm personally not on the ''all classic remakes should be 2d''...If done right jumping to 3d is the better option as sometimes adhering to the 2d style limits replay/exploration/ and can sometimes feel dated, sometimes.

Most of the games announced by SEGA are not even being developed in-house by SEGA...

Honestly I think Yakuza is a better example of how a streets of rage would play in 3D.
The Yakuza series feels like 3D evolution of that same genre.
I love for a Streets of Rage game done in the style of Yakuza Like a Dragon.
I'm 16 and extremely exited for these franchises to return, because not everyone who enjoys retro games is a washed up middle aged man.
As a fellow 16 years old, I beat streets of rage 4 five times, *I need more*
@@camgamerxl6149 I resemble that remark
Wow! That has to be worst take on "Jet Set Radio" I've ever heard. Absolute Gem of a game BTW!
Haha, 🤣. To be honest it's a game I have never put enough time into to form an adequate opinion. Hence my tongue in cheek response to it!
Knowing sega itll be a Straight port of the original without anything new.
I miss Jet Set Radio Future a lot
Happy to see sega back.😮😮😮😮
I'm 100% sure Shinobi is being made by dotemu, the art direction is unmistakable.
They need to cook streets of rage 5
@@DragonBallUltra2024nah
They burnt out
They moving on
That Golden Axe looks nice!! I’m looking forward to all
shinobi.................best game ever made.
Golden Axe return of death adder was the best Golden axe sequel , this 3d one..now after my excitement died down , i'm also skeptical.
I’m cautiously optimistic I got into sega games back in the early 2010s on a collection for the ps2 fingers crossed for vectorman also I think the trailer may have been a reference to comix zone
If Streets of Rage goes 3D, that's fine as long as it is playable.
I love you too!
@TopHatGamingManChannel genuine lol!!! Cheers brother!
Interesting take
NOT GONNA LIE BIGGEST SOR FAN EVER I DONT KNOW ABOUT MAKING IT 3D ITBLOOKS VERY JANK AND I LOVE 4 BECAUSE IT KEPT IT GROUNDED TO THE SERIES I PLAY ON MY STEAMDECK AND ITS AMAZING BUT YEAH I HOPE TO GOD THEY DONT MESS THIS UP
3:22 I AGREE BUT THE PHRASE GOES IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT ILL GIVE YOU A PASS BECAUSE YOU ARE FROM THE.....UK???😅😅
shinobi looks sick AF
👏🏽 exactly multipler Arkham
All it needs is a zoomed out camera
how can people talk about Sega, beat'em ups and not talk about Yakuza? Are you people so ignorant like this?
New Streets of Rage looks like what “fighting force” was supposed to be.
Because that WAS going to be SoR.
Shinobi will turn out good for sure
GA4 and SOR5 will flop for not being 2D
Don't know about the other games
Couldn't have said it better than myself
Bring back SPIDER-MAN SEPARATION ANXIETY.
At least here in the States Streets of rage 3 was terrible. Terrible music at a minimum. I hold very little hope for the same reason. Streets of rage should and always be 2d.
I liked the Arcade Mode of Final Fight Streetwise and Fighting Force. If they make It like that, but Really good... I should be fine.
Yakuza 1-6 are essentially beat-em-ups. I've always wanted to see RGG get a chance at making a Streets of Rage game in that style.
0-6
@@sky-oq5mr True. Gigantic L on my part. 0 is actually my favorite Yakuza game.
When ever classic 2D games go 3D, they fuck it up.
Few games survived this transition.
Man, that sega saturn golden axe sure looks cool!
With 3D Beat 'em Ups, they really need to look at the Yakuza series and Shaolin Monks because these games cracked the code on that genre.
No doubt about it....This games has to come back ...no matter what ! STREETS OF RAGE and GOLDEN AXE my bread and butter at those days late 80's early 90's
Shinobi looks like a hand drawn work of art. Day one for me
