You hit the nail on the head! Falling in love can be relatively easy, but sustaining and honoring the commitment it entails can indeed be challenging. It takes effort and dedication from both parties to make a relationship thrive.

Things have been feeling nowhere near as fulfilling in the past 2 months or so... And guess why! We hadnt had a discussion about love languages yet. Turns out touch and quality time are important to me, and quality time and gift giving are important to him. Now we need to try some new things together!

My boyfriend just broke up with me because he was torn between making an effort for our relationship and enjoying the freedom of being single. He was cheated on twice so I understand the trust issues. It was just our 6 month and we had been having such good conversations at where we were at, how we were feeling, how to better understand each other etc. I tried my best but the worst is just letting it go because he doesn't want to put effort in.

Relatable, my bf left me 1 month ago and i can't get over it, he wouldnt communicate properly, wouldn't try to understand himself and never expressed his need to spend more time with his friends (basically that's all he wanted). I've never felt so abandonned and lonely, i gave him everything and loved and supported him so dearly, but he wasn't into reciprocating and still now refuses to make efforts to make the leftovers we have decent and respectful.

One issue that my partner and I just discussed a few days ago that lead to a lot of arguments was:
Be there for your partner, be caring and loving, show that they matter to you. However, take care of yourself too. You're only one person with a life of your own, worries, a family, wants and needs of your own, take care of yourself. Don't give up all your free time and put your needs away for your partner. Once in a while if your partner really needs you, okay, its good to helpful to actually do that, but not constantly. Its puts so much pressure and strain on you and you feel then stressed and irritated because you're not taking care of yourself, you're forgetting about things that your body and mind need.
My partner was always there for me and I felt so loved and cared for, but what we both noticed only after is that it started to take a toll on him. He was more irritated, angry, sad, unmotivated because he wasn't taking care of himself.
Be there for each other, love each other, spend time together, but never forget about yourself and your needs. Please.

Something REAL important that happened to me not too long ago was realizing that me and my boyfriend just didn’t have time in our lives to be in a relationship. It was something we had discussed early on but kinda brushed off because of the heat of the moment, but when time went on we realized we were both too busy to give each other the time we deserved from each other and thus had to split even though we had fallen in love by that point. Let it be known to always ask yourself and your potential partner if you guys have enough time to be in a relationship before you go too far

The "Ignorance is bliss" part resonated with me so much. In my past 13 year relationship I'm guilty to holding every little annoyance to myself. When she left her newly washed clothes that I washed for her on floor. When she left the dishes out in the kitchen or on the table. I didn't say anything for a long time, later I stopped caring if the clothes were laying on the floor, or if the dishes were layed out all over the apartment. And when she brought it up, the annoyance came up. But then she brought up every thing that I didn't do that she were annoyed with me. It became an argument and I thought to myself. i'm never going to bring this up again, it made me unhappy, we slipped apart. It all turned into a "It was good until It wasn't" situation

Its fantastic and makes everyday interesting. Yes, I keep bare bones order in my life and a routine because my ASD side will grow uncomfortable with chaos, but it is flexible due to my ADHD getting bored. i can say that the 2nd point applies to all kinds of relationship, romantically or not. i have the habit of just keeping every bottled up inside me cause just like in the video said, i don't want to cause a commotion over small things. i hate confrontation cause it makes me feel uncomfortable, thinking i'm being too nitpicky with the other person. but sometimes, just confronting the issue in a casual settings helps a lot in one way or another. i do realized this bad habit of mine will soon deter my relationship one day so i'm trying really hard to change it bit by bit. a close friend said sometimes, i just need to be selfish for a bit and just tell the other person how i feel, no matter what kind of response they would have. it also kind of shows what kind of people you're hanging out with and based on their responses, you can judge by yourself whether you feel safe to be around them or not. i really hope that slowly but surely, i could develop a more healthy way to communicate my thoughts with the people around me. as much as we want to believe that soulmates understand each other even though they don't speak on it, communication is still the key to a more better & healthier relationship

My partner knows my love language. I’ve told him mine. But he doesn’t do anything to share his love in that way… saying he doesn’t know how to even though I’ve given him examples. I’ve asked him to take the test bc I wanted to make sure I gave him all the love possible. He refused. So I gave him everything. Gave him all the possible love I can give in all 5 languages. Now I feel like he doesn’t love me enough bc he isn’t willing to try.

don’t we all enjoy multiple love languages? like touch is my biggest one but i won’t feel loved without quality time and words of affirmation as well. I still feel loved with all of them too. Gift receiving is my least important. But i still love receiving a gift that reminds me of my partner or it has something based on an inside joke or something between us. Or has meaning to me or her.

The problem is expecting the other person to act like an adult. Far too many are grown children who can’t-won’t-behave responsibly & is reason #368 why an activity partner w/ benefits-yes, actually doing things together outside-is the best possible option.

I agreed with most of it. But I disagree with the part that said there are only 5 love languages. My love language is constructive criticism. If someone never gives me constructive criticism I don't feel loved by them.

One could argue that the category "words of affirmation" kind of covers that? I'm meaning that everyone takes " words of affirmation" differently so maybe that could be the way for you?

    • @onnie1036
      @onnie1036 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@ozbornn3 You make a valid point. "Words of affirmation" in the Five Love Languages can indeed encompass various forms of verbal communication.

    • @ssutherland9019

Words of affirmation. I love getting that but only if it is really genuine, so I guess there would be a constructive criticism element, as they would be honest with you if they were truly genuine.
Words that are not genuine make me angry! Better not to say it then!

Another tip is to learn to wait for the correct moment to fix problems. You probably wont fix something in the heat of an argument, so learn to wait, take a deep breath, chill out a bit and let the other people do that as well, than you can try to fix anything. We tend to say a lot of things in the heat of a moment and most of time we regret the things we say, so learn this one and you will be fine

When alone in a place i'm familiar with i will go of on my own before returning but if i am in someplace i don't know then i'm like a puppy.
I also explain alot of why i do things... until i comes to awkward moments like talking about feelings or talking about things that both me (i know bad but growing up in a man's world does that)

What if I was open and honest about problems in my relationship... but every time I talked about it, the other person would just have a bad reaction to it, be hurt, and avoid me and then things only felt worse and like I couldn't open up more?
Especially if the same thing happened the other way around, I realized I would have bad reactions to things she says too, but only after things were too far gone. But I see how it must've been hard for her to talk too.
