There’s something beautiful abt this channel, the filming and editing from Daniel is amazing, let alone the incredible role model Phily is in the running community 🫶 Inspired by both of your channels every time I see a video, love the grind 😊
It’s been a team effort ever since the start, and we own this channel in equal shares even though it goes by my name/face. Wouldn’t have it any other way! ❤️
Phily gave me my mojo back recently, and I done my first half marathon distance in about 4 years, in a time of 80 mins. I'm a 57yo getting over health issues so a big thanks to Phily.
Amazing job Philly! A PB in 20 degrees heat, you can’t be disappointed with that. If the temperature was 10C you’d easily have run a minute quicker. People underestimate the effect of temperature.
It's great when u know there is more there even after a PB, I ran 71mins last year, 77 and 74 this year and feel I have trained harder and in better shape than that, hoping it all comes together dublin marathon 5weeks time
There’s a lot in this one. Firstly, your talent is so big. I work full time with elite athletes and to see you disappointed after running a PB would be tough as a coach. Granted it may be part of your macrocycle, in which case it is less significant than a race later down the line and vice Versa. You are an inspiring athlete, me and my friend lace up due to people like you, Ben Felton, Kofuzi, Kipchoge etc… Running is en vogue right now, a bright spot that the sport probably hasn’t been in, and it’s due to contributions such as yours. We always talk about the triangle of Enjoyment-Fun-Satisfaction and the difference between each for each session or competition we are in, dependent upon the athlete and stage of season. I think this is applicable here, enjoyment doesn’t always have a place. Thank you for what you do, we need you more than you know (probably). Love from your friends that you haven’t met yet x
Great editing and race footage. Daniel has a gift for it. Racing is funny sometimes, even when you run a pb you can be a bit disappointed but it's still faster than you ever ran and on a hot day when you weren't feeling it. Trust the process..it will come.
Chocolate Milk Love Story... oh my. I came for the running but stayed for the amazing creativity and video editing - the slo mo, the soft jazzy music - Daniel is really really good! Oh, and there's still the great running.
I love this! The post-race thoughts are the thoughts of a true athlete. "I ran a PB, but..." Keep striving for excellence! And it's a performance we mortals look up to. You're an inspiration!
It’s my first half marathon today here in Chicago!!!!! I didn’t get to train much. Im sure I’m walking a lot of it today 😅😅 currently eating waffles, 1 banana & pb 🎉
As they say, "That's Racing" You never know what's going to happen or how you are going to feel. Funny but I get butterflies watching your race videos, but I don't get them for my races. Been doing it long enough that I can control myself but watching you gets my heart rate up, haha!
You are a true inspiration to me, Phily! It's okay to feel let down in your journey from time to time. I hope you keep remembering to SMILE and enjoy every run you do!
Cracking result! You should be pretty chuffed if you've PB'd ... yet feel like you've got more! I ran the Nottingham 1/2 Marathon on Sunday and PB'd by nearly 4 minutes ... yet I'm still "slightly" miffed at having kept plenty in front of the 1:50 pacer, but my official chip time ended up as 1:50:01 where I was aiming for Sub 1:50. (My Coros says I ran 21.24k overall, and my 1/2 marathon time was 1:49:40 .. so I'll go with that! 🤣)
I am a very amateur runner and yesterday ran a 10k in the Montreal marathon weekend. Did not go as good as I wanted and felt a bit disappointed, until I came to the moment you talked about your coach. Hey, I have done a PB! Thanks Phily, you were as good a coach for me than yours was for you in Copenhagen!
You always learn more from when things don't go to plan. Just shows how far your progressing, if you get a massive PB yet still upset. Only a stepping stone to the Olympics
This was a fun one and great to see Phily, that when we fall short of our goals, you can still pick yourself back up and keep going until the next one! And the filming/editing Daniel, superb!
Oooh congrats! That was also my first half marathon… 13 years ago! Still very much in love with running and about to start a TH-cam channel documenting a year of marathon training 😅
I just want to recommend the half marathon in Gothenburg (Sweden) which is in May every year. I believe it's the largest half marathon in the world with thousands of participants and the number of events around the course is insane. There are so many live bands and the overall atmosphere is GREAT! I'm not sure if you're planning on doing a race at that time but if you do, Göteborgsvarvet is great!
A PB on an iffy day is a bigger win than a goal time on a good day. Yes, you struggled but you found a way through. A bigger defeat would have been to give in l, either push too hard or back off and give up (unlikely). "It felt like a 10k" may just be the ultimate point. It's not a marathon and that nasty mix of speed and endurance that a half presents said yes marathon runner you are faster (PB) but you are marathon runner (unsettled run). You have great days ahead.
A PB, what's not to like. I don't think you did anything wrong. I guess you're looking for a perfect race each time. Be proud. Well done and great video. So good job Daniel.
Phily just a fantastic race and experience. I'm so sorry you didn't feel confident and content with the results. It's such a solid step forward tho, well done to you! Great job! And stellar video Daniel🎉
Great job, Phily! I understand the whole PB “but could have done better” feeling! It’s actually a great sign when you think of it as progression … you just got a PB with an immediate feeling of improving on it - great spot to be… after all the dust settles…
It’s funny seeing you run the route. We crossed the route 3 times on our way from our apartment to our church (one of the side streets near the finish line in Frederiksberg Allé) also saw one of the drinks stations and I got excited about pipe cleaners on some of the bottles
I thought of your last marathon video a lot while I was running Berlin today and trying to channel your positive energy and enthusiasm. It worked! PB. You rock Phily!
Such a beautiful and amazing video. The editing was so great it even made me feel a little of the start line nerves! Congrats on the important stepping stone, and thanks for giving me all the motivation I needed for my last half marathon session of the training block today!
Congratulations on your result When I looked at the results right after the race, I wasn't really sure if you had the race/result you wanted. Like I said in your previous video: You have a tendency to bring sunshine to Copenhagen 😎 ☀ Stop doing that 😀 Anything above 17 degr. C is hot to me ! That thing with "out of sync" feeling, I can relate to in the race. For me it was absolutely the humidity that kept messing with me, that I could not evaporate enough heat. I've been procastenating all morning... Originally planed for a 30K... Then after waking up, changed it to 2 x 13K.. Then watching Berlin Marathon, and then Phily in Copenhagen, going on a chokolate milk frenzy 😀 (I hate that I've gone lactose intollerant 😞 ) Now I'm more likely to do a 10K and then a 5K later. I've got 8'ish weeks until my next marathon ( with a 30K trail in between and unfortunately a comming DNS on the 13K Eremitageløbet ), slowly gettting my sciaticaproblem under controle.
Haha sorry for bringing the heat (again), promise its not intentional! I think a lot of people felt it out there, saw plenty who had to stop which was really sad to see. Hope you got out for that run!
@@PhilyBowden Did the run, but changed to 5K + 6x800m (5K speed, 2 min. recovery) on track + 5K back home. Unstructured, but I let my mind find out what it really wanted to do. Once I got to the track, my mind said "You Love the Grind" and then I did the intervals and loved it, and did the 5K back home. I'm happy with that. Of you do not have any plans to visit Denmark in the mean time, then I hope you'll show up at the CPH Marathon next year. I have my place allready and will prepare for a sunny, hot and humid day 😁
Love seeing that elite or (in my case) not, we go through the exact same emotions through a race. I recently ran Berlin and killed it on paper with a 17 minute PB, but it was a fight the whole 42k. Like you, I never found my groove. Sucks because some training runs I was flying high! Oh well, lessons to be learned in every race.
Congrats! Solid run and new PB! Interested in what you said about not getting comfortable during the race. Look forward to hearing your race after thoughts.
Excellent race, been looking forward to your post race thoughts. Congrats on the PB and glad you’re not satisfied yet. That means we still have lots to more to come😊
I loved this video, that informal style with un-posed shots and glimpses of Phily's mood in the lead up to the race. Excellent work. Not a bad run either!
I completely agree Phily, I had it drummed into me by one of our local legends.... but hers an indirect question.... have you even run a PB on a hangover...... seriously I have and did get a PB..... why though It completely escapes me as to why..... may be I was still dreaming and had no issues.... just thinking aloud!!
Great video both and a fab run Phily. We've all been there with the disapointing run and your coach is right, use it as a stepping stone. You didn't feel great yet still set a new PB. Come the day you fire on all cylinders then watch out PB time 😊🏃♀💪
Loved it, amazing race. Just came back from my own with a similar kind of result. Way faster than I have ever done, but I know it could have been even better. But I actually had tons of fun, hugely because I remembered from some video somewhere, that smiling is key 😊 Thank you!
Love it Phily!!! Excited for that PB and what it indicates on where you will go in the future - if you can run a PB on a day when you are out of rhythm and not feeling it - it will for sure pay off in the long run... I am hopefully running Chicago in a couple of weeks - I say hopefully because I tripped on an easy run last week and hit the pavements pretty hard and bruised my ribs - it was about 4 days ago and I still cant run a couple of steps without a lot of pain so I know i have a bit and the training is there so I am hoping that I can be OK after about a week or so fingers crossed - Ill be there regardless for my athletes but hoping I can run it with them at least for a good part.
Great video and congrats to PB! You should be an actor 🤔I love your alcohol free beer commercial 😁Also great to see how the basecamp and race looks from eyes of elite runner.
Don't be disappointed, it's not like you have a tear in your calf 2 weeks before a marathon, like I got this morning.... You trained, got there, started, got a PB, wonderful!
Congratulations on a P.B.! That out of sink rhythm thing is the worst. Daniel did an amazing job with the footage. I really want to get a pair of those white pants you were wearing!

Ran the same race and the heat was brutal - they reported quite a lot of people actually needed help.
I must have been more then 20 degrees - it was like running through hell. Doing any kind of PB on that day is impressive.
I heard it was 23°. I'm no scientist. But running on black asphalt in a city, I think it might be even warmer! Or it will feel warmer!
It's great when u know there is more there even after a PB, I ran 71mins last year, 77 and 74 this year and feel I have trained harder and in better shape than that, hoping it all comes together dublin marathon 5weeks time

This was a great video, Daniel did an awesome job with the filming and editing :) Congrats on the PB Phily!
Thank you!!
They have the best background music. Like an old Charlie Brown special.
Seems everyone was struggling with the heat. Also 22 degrees in Denmark can feel warmer than 30 degrees + in south Europe because of the air humidity.
